Im totally down for Orton winning the big one a few more times. Just to get Orton vs Cena (high number) at wrestlemania both tied on 16 title Reigns, the winner takes Flairs record. I think historically that match is something. I see this suggested a lot. Makes no sense as Orton would go into the match as a 16 time champion. If he wins, he’s still on his 16th reign. The only way that works is if the title is vacant and both men wrestle to see who wins number 17. Or a triple threat. It wouldn't take a massive leap of imagination for them to make this work.

I wouldn’t call him the worst but CM Punk hardly main evented PPVs during 2012 as WWE champion due to playing second fiddle to Cena and his storylines always comes to mind.

Kofi Kingston. I can't buy him as a main eventer especially when his opponents were bigger than him.

I found some enjoyment in most main eventers...hard to pin down the worst though.

Kofi Kingston. I can't buy him as a main eventer especially when his opponents were bigger than him. He's 6 foot. he's also like 190lb. I don't necessarily agree with him but I can understand Kofi is pretty small for a world champion.

See, I agree with the Del Rio stuff but what’s funny is that for a good while so many people here loved him and sang his praises. Go look back at the 2011 Rumble thread. People were so high on him. Haha DELLLLLL RIIIOOOOOO literally everyone here loved him

Cena. The reason I stopped watching wrestling. You went from an Olympic gold medalist to a guy in jorts feigning military service. I’ve come to admire his philanthropy. then goes on to be in a movie where he played a military guy. literally a cash grab on patriotic people..and a ton of them watch wrestling.

I would rather watch Great Khali vs Giant Gonzalez in a 3-hour Iron Man Match than Del Rio vs Swagger for the world title.

Alberto ing Del Rio. He was trash from the start and pissed me off SO BAD when he returned to end Cena's US title reign. Mahal was bad too but he understood his role and wasn't a prick in real life like Del Rio.

he's also like 190lb. I don't necessarily agree with him but I can understand Kofi is pretty small for a world champion. The problem with Kofi for me was he was a tag team specialist for so many years with New Day and had become a Royal Rumble gimmick for so long he just wasn’t believable as a main event wrestler to me.

The way Kofi was booked; I loved Kofi as champion. But I kept forgetting in 2019; who's WWE Champion again? Then; I would think really hard. If he had compelling reign that would be fine; Orton and Kofi I thought had good program. And Kofi and Dolph wouldn't have been bad if more was given to it. I don't know that reign could of been a lot of fun. They didn't blow it as bad as Rey's 2006 title run. By they damn well did got pretty close.
Seth Rollins as baby face top champion kinda fell flat; and I think that again was lack of compelling storyline through summer of 2019. A lot of these guys really weren't bad; just garbage booking. Bryan's World Title run in 2011 was also kind of worthless; until
Sheamus had decent run in 2012 with the title; if the whole summer program with Delrio wasn't so damn boring. Delrio and Sheamus could work fine together; I saw them in a Street Fight at a house show that summer. Those two were stiff; hard hitting and impactful. Delrio just was not very compelling. I thought Delrio had some very good matches with Cena; and those two gelled well. But I don't think Delrio really became the star he needed to be until his double turn with Ziggler.
Ziggler's 2013 world title run was such a huge let down. Even if so; if Delrio took the title and the double turn happened. Ziggler had more then enough traction to get his win back at Money in The Bank or prolong the feud to Summer Slam with Baby face ziggler redeeming it. And; roll from there. Any time Ziggler picked up traction in 2014-2016; they dropped it. To where; Ziggler has been so damaged I do not care to see him anymore. He makes good supplementing role; and you can push him just to work angle with your main eventer and him to lose. And that's his role now.
Delrio is weird. He's a exceptional main eventer in his time period. He belongs in that 2010-2013 time period. But when the Indy darlings; and some other big stars started to break through in 2014. I think Delrio took a backseat. And you could see that; he took backseat after losing to Batista. Becoming a lower mid carder for the rest of 2014. And when he returned in 2015; to me he felt so damn out of place and it felt weird. Delrio and that whole league of nation stuff felt like 12 year old me on a all night passing out from a cheatos and mountain binge and letting universe mode book itself.
Delrio did put on some decent work with Edge (wasn't Edge's greatest stuff by long run) but WM 27 was a fun match. Delrio got thrusted into the main event scene way to quick. But; he started to mature as performer. And when the WWE roster I think in those years was very thin and bland. Delrio was a find staple bad guy. But; that's where its just bland and medicore to look back on.
Sheamus in 2009-2010 was just boring to me. You break out and beat Cena; just to do a screwy finish. Then drop it at the chamber; job out at Mania. Regain the title; just to drop it in the Fall. And shoot down to mid card status. 2012 Sheamus was a strong baby face and to me it felt like was the #3 good guy; going back and forth with Ryback on that #3 spot. Sheamus had fun stuff with Bryan; and his matches with Show were actually really fun. But; the Delrio stuff took up bulk of that reign. I thought Sheamus was very convincing top baby face at the time. But his reign also lacked substance.
Outside of Cm Punk; and the Shield when it came to 2012 it was such gross boring year. I just wanted to add; the decline of John Cena angle was cool. But; Cena really didn't decline to much. He beat Brock; lost to Johnny Ace; but took back a win in a Steel Cage got Ace fired; won MTIB; lost it; challenge for the WWE title few times and got screwed some of them; and ran program with Ziggs. Wasn't the total worst year as the angle tried depicting it.
