That springboard 450 was really impressive. Can't remember seeing that while she was in AEW. Yeah I don't think she ever did it there. I know statlander does a 450 too, but Kenny is making her save it for a big moment to start using it

I'm jumping ahead here, but it's so wild to me to have Aja Kong still competing at a legit level. I remember being so baffled as a kid when she won the '95 Survivor Series match and then the women's division just sort of disappeared

I was so sad when it just kind of disappeared from WWE Rewatching WCW, it's interesting to see how the division sort of migrated to WCW. I have literally zero recollection of women's wrestling in WCW until the Miss Madness/Madusa days in car crash WCW. Totally different age, obviously. But I think if they had given it a little more time the division could have gotten over. Madusa got some pretty good pops.

Great match. Really had me convinced Veny was scoring the upset there.
Also hugely impressed with Excalibur being able to keep pronouns straight that entire match. Not that I should be surprised.
Time for Maki Itoh!

Well I can't see Aja Kong losing which does leave me a little disappointed. Was hoping for one upset rather than just the four who have already appeared in aew advancing

I'm kinda thinking this is gonna be the Ryo mizunami party now. I can't see tjpw wanting to give up Yuka for any real length of time knowing that there's quarantines on both ends.

It was an enjoyable watch, for being an empty warehouse with pretty cramped space. I wish they had a little more room, because I don't think so many forced tight camera shots helped the presentation.
From Kenny's tweets, it sounds like they're planning on doing a lot more with these folks moving forward. I'm not opposed, but I also just don't know how well it will get over with American audiences at a mainstream level.
In related news, Taya and Millie McKenzie are both NXT and NXT UK bound. Not shocking, but at the same time AEW keeps plugging ahead with their women's division while WWE has an absolute embarrassment of riches.

We can't bring Maki Itoh over. We won't be able to comment on anything she ever says or does without our posts being deleted lol. You'll notice my other post commenting on her ability to come over has also disappeared 🙄

god was it refreshing to just hear Excalibur in his element. Not suprised they didnt have JR, Taz, or Schiavone with him since they would have said something questionable.

In terms of moves, back story, etc, they would have been pretty useless. And I say that as somebody who still enjoys both. I would have liked to see Veda back in the booth for this, but not sure how possible those logistics would be. For a one man booth, Excalibur killed it.

Really fun show coming from someone who's never watch Japanese women's wrestling. Looking forward to the rest of this little tournament.

Those who didn’t watch are missing out on some of the best damn women’s wrestling in recent memory That's Joshi wrestling for ya! They have a lot of weirdness at times (cuz Japan lol), but the in ring work is always top notch. No fault of the American women since the culture on women's wrestling is decades behind, but the Joshi's are always on another level.

after the first 2 matches it was so obvious the previous AEW women would move on which kinda took the air out of my excitment though.
