Here's a question for the board: Would you buy Gooker in its current form if the original costume/character was not deemed possible? If so, would you display it with your Legends figures even if it wasn't a proper Survivor Series '90 version? I think I would have to get it knowing how long it's been since the version I want most was first teased, and especially if a debut Gooker is never going to happen, but I don't know if I want to spend a lot for a knockoff. I'd be content with Mattel never attempting it at all if it's not the one, true Gooker costume. I’d buy the 2020 Drew Gulak Gobbledy Gooker. Not sure if I’d buy the Xavier Woods/Maryse costume. Honestly, I'd probably buy any Gobbeldy Gooker. Just to have him in my collection would work, whatever version we got. I'm not that much of a Purist for Golden Era stuff. Any Gooker would be fine for me, just give me my Turkey.

Did he sign a contract with Randy Savage to get his figure deal? We’re comparing Hector Guerrero and Randy Savage? Legal precedent.

You go tell Vince to sign him then Did he sign a contract with Randy Savage to get his figure deal? Yes. The plan was for Savage to come back for various WWE projects, which never happened due to his passing. Whatever the issue was with Savage, it appeared to have been settled.

The one they previewed at comic con wasnt very accurate to the costume. However I think it would sell very well #MakeItHappenMattel #DontBeScaredHomie

Mattel was unable to make a figure of him until he signed that WWE deal.

I’d buy one and put it in my 1990 era shelf even if it wasn’t 100% accurate. Just gimme a Gooker.

Mattel was unable to make a figure of him until he signed that WWE deal. I may be mistaken because it was 12 years ago, but I think in the beginning Mattel signed Steamboat, Savage and the Von Erich’s to figure contracts themselves. But not long after that it changed and the WWE had to sign them to Legends/merchandise deals and then give the Ok Mattel to make them.

I recall them talking about Savage being in video games and other things going forward when they announced the figure, so it's entirely possible that I could be wrong.

I'm not going to dig through the Observer from 2011 to find out the specifics. Even if it was different a decade ago, the fact remains that Mattel cannot currently sign individual talent to figures without a Legends contract, as they have repeated many times.

Don't be a turkey, Mattel. Give us that turkey.
Make it an RSC exclusive too.

The issue now is the new rule that the talent in the suit has to be under contract. Steve has expressed interest in trying to make Gooker but can’t without Hector signed to a deal. Other wrestlers have appeared in the costume but it’s not the same as the SvS90 one. That being said, Gulak wore one very similar to the original this past SvS so there may now be a chance. Through in a Gulak alternate head sculpt and wah-lah. Loophole lol

So offer Hector Guerrero a Legends contract. Why would they offer him a contract and pay him money for little return on that investment. I'm not sure his merch would be flying off the shelves. That's probably why WWE aren't going out of their way to get older guys under deals. They are looking to cut costs right now.
