TK himself has hyped this up so much, that almost anyone mentioned this week would be a disappointment. I believe Christian will be in the ladder match. Id love for it to be Christian but I’d be concerned if a guy who had to retire due to concussions made his return in a ladder match.

Any chance the big signing could be someone from Japan? Everyone keeps focusing on former WWE stars but with AEW’s core audience having a decent understanding of wrestling from Japan (or that there’s atleast other promotions there with top names connected to The Elite), any chance we get someone big coming over?

I don't think bringing in a big star from Japan for "their core audience" is going to grow ratings.

I think they've really painted themselves into a corner. We're half a Monday Night Raw thread deep here on who Paul Wight's big surprise is going to be. Brock Lesnar and CM Punk are they only 2 people I can see being worthy of this hype. I've NEVER liked CM Punk and don't really want him there. I think he's the most thought about name though, but Wight said "it's not who you think" so I don't think it's Punk. Brock seems to have a love hate relationship with Vince and I could see him taking a huge pay day from Khan as an FU to Vince, but he doesn't fit the "spot." His schedule and style won't work in AEW. He also doesn't have a Paul Heyman. I guess they could get him one, but, meh. I don't think it's him.
Show can be goofy and this could be a swerve for all we know. Hornswoggle could walk down that ramp as Wight laughs talking about his first AEW "turn." This is AEW. They like to be goofy at times and this could be one of them. I hope to hell it's not.

Despite being as likely as Brock or Punk (which is basically 0%), I think enough fans know the name Okada where he could bring a few more eyes to the product (again, this is basically 0% of happening but there are a few Japanese names I think would fit the “big singing” and could bring in some new eyes). Realistically, I think it’ll be Angle, Christian, or RVD (which will be a letdown compared to the hype they’re building).

It's not like TK doesn't have a history of over-hyping. The announcement that will send shockwaves through the wrestling world was the FTW title, which has been literally meaningless since it showed up. Remember how great that empty arena match between Mox and Hager was supposed to be? Yeah... I love TK but he over-hypes everything.

Maybe Mark Callaway? He won’t be able to be Undertaker, but so what? That character was put to rest after 30 years. Maybe Vince doesn’t want to pay him for 15 years to do nothing and Mark himself wants to work so they quietly parted ways?

That would be hilarious, a guy known for his loyalty to the 'E breaks it for AEW lmao Still wouldn't protect him from the washed-up fossil insults, though...

It seems super weird that Big Show's debut was just him hyping another debut, unless THAT debut is a much bigger deal than him. Which basically leaves Lesnar, Goldberg, Cena, Undertaker, Batista or Punk. Then there are names that are a smaller deal than Big Show but maybe not to the AEW fanbase - Christian, Angle, RVD, Styles, Samoa Joe. It probably can't be any of the above though, because it's WrestleMania season and we aren't gonna be able to REEEEEE about Edge's age and part-time status while cheerleading the push of any of those guys. Ah who am I kidding, hypocrisy has never been a sin. We can still REEEEE about old guys while supporting old guys. My prediction is the 41-year-old Shinsuke Nakamura. This is actually a good guess.

I have a feeling that the "huge" signing is Wight himself.

I’d laugh so hard if it is another Wandavision “big cameo” situation just days later.

At this point we'll see in a few hours. If it's Angle or Christian, I still think grabbing someone with some casual recognizability who was a world champ is still a big get. Particularly if it's Christian - the top of the card could still use some additional depth and name value for the casual fan.
The Punk/Brock speculation will never die down until they either are in WWE or AEW. But that never seemed like a reasonable guess here - you invest that kind of money when you have a full capacity live crowd and can pop them with a total surprise, or you debut on free tv to pop a rating and subsequent PPV buyrate like they're doing with Sting. Doesn't mean they won't happen, but this isn't the right scenario for either of those investments.
