What is the deal with Walmart? In the last week or so, I have been to 4 or 5 different ones, and NONE had any elites, but some had some basics and/or battlepacks. I’ve also noticed others talking or posting about their Walmarts not having anything either, not even basics or battlepacks. Is it really that each one just isn’t stocking figures or that they order 1 or 2 boxes and sell out? Or is this something on Mattel’s end?
I’m not trying to bitch, I’m generally curious. I thought it was just my Walmart’s employees not giving a crap, but Monday I went to 2 that are hours away from me and they didn’t have anything either. I don’t understand.

Most Walmart’s have been like this for about the past 2-3 years now.

It’s the norm for any Walmart I walk into in the last 6-8 months. Only exceptions being both DOD shippers.

It’s like they get in a box or two, sell out, and don’t re-order for a while. And if you ask them when they’re supposed to get in more, you check on that date and there’s nothing. I just don’t understand.

So of they order a case of 10 hammers and put them on a peg they expect to sell 1 of those hammers per week and that will last them 10 weeks. But that's not how toys/collectbales work, a collector/scalper walks in and sees they have the newest set and cleans the entire peg in one purchase, well those 6 figures were supposed to last 6 weeks and since ordering/restocking power has been taken away from human employees for the most part guess how long it takes for the computer to send for a restock?

Went into my local 2 days ago and they had full pegs of elite 82 and elite 83. Picked up a 6th Bliss and both versions of Edge

I have never seen a wrestlemania or survivor series elites at my walmarts. Based on my multiple recent trips if you to Walmart your guarantee to see zero elites or at least 1 Elizabeth summerslam elite

But it is automated. When the inventory shows that the pegs are empty, a new order is automatically regenerated. So theoretically if Walmart gets in a case of Elite 82, puts the entire case out on Monday morning, and they are sold out by Monday evening, the inventory would show as 0. So an order would automatically be generated. Ideally the next case would show up by the end of the week. But that is not what is happening here. It feels more like the distribution centers are not getting the cases and are unable to ship them out. Which would explain things. The issue would be in the distribution centers not having the stock to send out.

I was listening to an interview with a (non-wrestling) online toy retailer. He said that Walmart really only cares about having toys fully stocked during Q4 for holiday buying season. Beyond that, it's not a priority. But because of the sheer volume of product that they order and sell in that quarter alone, Hasbro and Mattel have to cater to those stores. And they get exclusives and content that smaller retailers, who could better distribute to the core customers, are left out in the cold.
That's why they get the exclusives, high demand figures, etc across pretty much all lines. Even when they're poorly stocked, undershipped, and are a huge turnoff for the core customer base. And again, that's pretty universal across all lines/brands right now. The tail is wagging the dog, but I don't see it changing any time soon.

I feel like you could eliminate the Walmart part and it applies to every major retail store in the US right now.

Does Walmart even have distribution anymore?

If you have a store with no elites, basics, 2packs on the pegs at your walmart store.
That means the on hands are most certainly way off, so the stores don't order anything new.
People who work at walmart don't care so you have to find someone who does care to fix or correct the on-hands.
My advice is to try to go there during the week when the department manager should be there.
I did this at my local walmart and its been a lot better.
So to everyone who is complaining about walmart, do something about it or order your figures online.
My local target is much worse than walmart in stocking elites, legends, etc.
So its like anything, location, location, location....

I think it's Walmart that just sucks that bad. Same thing here, never anything at my Walmart, but the 2 Targets are usually pretty well stocked.
It's not just WWE, most of the male geared aisles w/ the possible exception of Lego, are always half empty.

I just buy online now. Why even bother going to Walmart? The pegs sit empty the majority of the time. I suppose there may be something there and I just miss it, but I’m also not going to Walmart every single day to keep up with this hobby.

The 4 nearest me haven’t gotten anything in for a month or so. Same with my two. Last I saw was E82 Balor left and was surprised. Before that at the other one I found E81 Belair on sale for $9
