Went into my local 2 days ago and they had full pegs of elite 82 and elite 83. Picked up a 6th Bliss and both versions of Edge That’s crazy. Must have just been put out.

I just buy online now. Why even bother going to Walmart? The pegs sit empty the majority of the time. I suppose there may be something there and I just miss it, but I’m also not going to Walmart every single day to keep up with this hobby. Because it’s easier to stop at Walmart and pay $18 for an elite than it is to get the same elite off RSC for $35+ shipped and wait a week for it to arrive. And you can’t really mention Amazon because they don’t always have the figures in-stock for $19.99 Prime. We shouldn’t be forced to order online to get something, that’s the whole point of them being sold in stores.

Big box stores methods for stocking doesn't translate well to toys/collectbales at all. The general ideology is that each peg is supposed to sell 1 item per week. So of they order a case of 10 hammers and put them on a peg they expect to sell 1 of those hammers per week and that will last them 10 weeks. But that's not how toys/collectbales work, a collector/scalper walks in and sees they have the newest set and cleans the entire peg in one purchase, well those 6 figures were supposed to last 6 weeks and since ordering/restocking power has been taken away from human employees for the most part guess how long it takes for the computer to send for a restock? But it is automated. When the inventory shows that the pegs are empty, a new order is automatically regenerated. So theoretically if Walmart gets in a case of Elite 82, puts the entire case out on Monday morning, and they are sold out by Monday evening, the inventory would show as 0. So an order would automatically be generated. Ideally the next case would show up by the end of the week. But that is not what is happening here. It feels more like the distribution centers are not getting the cases and are unable to ship them out. Which would explain things. The issue would be in the distribution centers not having the stock to send out. Not necessarily. If even one figure is stolen, hidden to purchase later (and never found), doesn't ring up properly, or there is just a pegwarmer the computer waits. Also the computer isn't set to auto restock the moment it hits zero like it would for food or household items, if that were the case then you'd be bitching even harder when after the second or third restock that set sits there forever because the demand for it is gone and you have to wait for it to sell before you get the next set. While toys and such are targeted at kids, demand is still a thing and over stocking is a big fear for those items.

While toys and such are targeted at kids, demand is still a thing and over stocking is a big fear for those items. That’s a point I see a lot of people miss (or don’t even know about). While Walmart’s system is automated and will auto re-stock essential items like food and clothing, non-essential items are not (including toys). Let’s say they get a case of 8 figures. Within Walmart’s system of non-essential items, those 8 figures should last 8 weeks based on their math (1 figure sells a week). So regardless of whether a case of 8 sells immediately or over a few weeks, Walmart simply cares that the case sells within 8 weeks. That’s why we may see a new set hit shelves and someone buys them all that same day and the pegs sit empty for what seems like forever. It’s a flawed system but to Walmart, it works. Does it benefit them to have empty shelves for months at a time? No, not at all. But like you said, the opposite is then auto-restocking right away and we get stuck with one elite set warming shelves forever. Then Walmart will see they arnt selling out within 8 weeks and possibly drop the line due to lagging sales. (Took a few marketing classes and Walmart’s inventory system was a heavy topic)

Last night, I saw my first elite figure at Walmart since Christmas. That includes 4 different stores I check almost weekly.

My Walmart’s haven’t gotten any AEW in a while, and the only stores that have stock on Brickseek are two stores that are known to have weenies, to be brief, working the toy department who are either incompetent or hide stock for themselves or people they know

I haven't seen anything at Walmart since they sold the last of their Basic FFH Bray's over a month ago. They had a dozen of them clogging the shelves. Now, with them gone, all that's left are slam cycles and AEW Belts.
Oh, and on the Marvel Legends side? I've seen them get restocked at least twice in that same period. First they restocked the ItSV wave (2x I think) and then they got in the new X-Men wave. Last time I was there they had a handful of Peter B. Parker's and not much else.
Meanwhile, the MOTU and Real Ghostbusters Retro Figs are rotting like a dead skunk.
The figure aisle is a MESS.

I don’t really check any other figures but I have noticed those get stocked more than WWE, or even AEW. I just don’t understand. That’s why I asked if this is more Walmart’s fault or Mattel’s, since other figures and other toys seem to typically get stocked regularly.

If you’re buying from RSC and not spending at least $50 you’re doing it wrong
Since retail doesn’t want to sell toys I’ve just been buying from RSC more

If you’re buying from RSC and not spending at least $50 you’re doing it wrong Since retail doesn’t want to sell toys I’ve just been buying from RSC more some of us can’t spend $50 at once I am usually the very first person to jump on this bandwagon. And yes, it is very true. But there's something to be said for what it would take to make a RSC order that falls below 50 dollars before shipping.
You would almost certainly have to be buying one newly released figure, two at the most. Looking at most WWE Preorders, two figures is all it takes to get over 50. That's it. And I say newly released because, frankly, if you were looking for old stock, you wouldn't be looking for it at Walmart anyway.
So, focusing on new releases only then.
If you're only going to be buying one figure at a time off RSC, you are almost certainly better off looking elsewhere. Put aside the money you would have spent on that one figure and hound the 'bay and amazon. More than likely, you'll be able to get that single figure for a cheaper price shipped then you would paying for it off RSC. I have played this game to hell and back and yes, sometimes secondary is better. There are reputable dealers on there with ample stock (for WWE anyway) that can stock you in the event that you just want a single figure.
And, in the event that you want multiple figures?
As stated, RSC is the place to be. Two figures at 25 dollars a piece, guaranteed, is a better deal than spending the time, money, and effort to deal with Walmart right now. You play the walmart game right now, you're going to lose. Simple as that. I know it sounds like I'm trying to shill, but again. I have played this game for 3 years now. Very rarely has going to Walmart been worth the effort for me. If anything, I've found that seeing the shiny plastic figures in person goads me into buying something I normally wouldn't have bought just so I don't leave empty handed for the fifth trip in a row. Spending 50 dollars on 2 figures I definitely want rather than 36 dollars on two figures that end up in a box is the better deal for me.
I mean, you do you, sure. But online shopping isn't as bad as you might think.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with this! There’s still a “thrill of the purchase” when you find it in person, though. I’m just saying it would be easier if Walmart would do their job and stock their shelves, and I didn’t have to resort to online. My problem with Walmart isn’t only WWE figures not being stocked, it’s also other things not being stocked as well. I purchase from RSC sometimes, especially for some items I know for sure I won’t find in stores or that are RSC exclusives.

IDK why they did another run of those Ghostbusters figures like 6+ months after the initial release. I unfortunately ate crap on them picking them up on the first run intending to hold them and flip them later on so that's a fat RIP for me.
