Says Chella and the Adam Bomb deal with his name isn’t going to end well/he wouldn’t touch that one with a 10 foot pole. This caught my eye. I wonder if he knows something we don't?

Bryan Clark says he has the trademark for the Adam Bomb name. Don't know why he'd say it and Chella would sell it if it wasn't the case 🤷🏻♂️

Just had a chance to finish listening to the Silver Linings episode with ZST (available on the MWFP Patreon). There was quite a bit of news coming out of it so I’m going to try and remember what the highlights were: There will be a ring (it’s well into development and will “knock our socks off”). He’s working towards accessory packs. Raven will likely come with a pleather soft goods jacket ZST is working hard towards signing Owen Hart. Terry Funk signed Masato Tanaka signed? Rock n Roll are signed and it sounded like Midnight Express and Heavenly Bodies were likely. Says Chella and the Adam Bomb deal with his name isn’t going to end well/he wouldn’t touch that one with a 10 foot pole. Pre orders for series 2 will likely go up in October. He doesn’t want too many pre orders available before products are actually in hand (to avoid what Super7 and others went through). He seemed positive/responsive to other former ECW talent like New Jack, Zombie wants to lean away from anything that would be legally difficult where a character might not be available by name or by look (was worried about Dino Bravo for example). This was in response to a question about W. Mercy. Sounds like Chris Hero signed with Masked Republic? Dances around the Kevin Costner figure a bit. Plans to release 15 physical figures a year to sell. ZST is all for doing repaints in the future (sounds like he wants to target event specific things for limited releases/special editions). Mentioned NYCC, SDCC, Live Major pod events, etc. Wants to release figures until there is no one left to sign/doesn’t see an end to this line until people stopped buying. Trying to sign Medusa/Blaze but she won’t return his messages. Has tried to get a hold of Fink’s family but that’s all that was said. To expand upon the Adam Bomb thing. “A lot of those guys are WWE IP.” “I’m not throwing anybody under the bus but those guys that made Adam Bomb - perhaps Adam Bomb owns the trademark- to the name Adam Bomb - doesn’t own the IP - so that s.hit is…I’m tellin you man, it’s not worth the cease and desist and there is no way they are legally doing that. So again I’m not trying to throw shade, I’m just sayin - it’s business man….and *sucks teeth* I wouldn’t touch that with a 10 foot pole, man. It’s…it’s not going to end well, I think. That’s that.” That is 99% close to what he said. I might have missed a little bit in there but hopefully this clarifies for some of us what is going on. Do not dwell on this, turn this into a debate or start flaming. Read it and move on. Stay positive and don’t get this thread shut down.

I'm not an expert by any means, but from looking into it on google trademark comes under IP. The only thing I can think he means is using the attire likeness, which could be WWE IP because he wore it while working for them. I'd argue that making King Haku would probably be more hot water for Chella though.
On the same veign, wouldn't Earl Hebner be the same issue? He only ever wore that ref outfit in WWF.

This caught my eye. I wonder if he knows something we don't? Bryan Clark says he has the trademark for the Adam Bomb name. Don't know why he'd say it and Chella would sell it if it wasn't the case 🤷🏻♂️ Multiple people can hold trademarks to the same name but have different limitations to what they can use said trademark for. Clark could potentially hold the trademark to name "Adam Bomb", but WWE could (hypothetically) still hold the IP to the specific look and it's specific use in the wrestling sector. I'm not going to pretend I know all the details, rules and regulations to this specific circumstance, so it's really hard to know what's truly going on.

It is a minefield and I also really have no idea. I was just thinking back to things like Acclaim Legends of Wrestling game, a lot of "IP" was used in that. Albeit some bits that would be trademarked were changed or removed. I don't really see how the look of Adam Bomb differs from the look of a 1994 Jeff Jarrett. WWF created both characters essentially.

Jeff Jarret was not a WWF created character but I would agree that look was primarily used in WWF. However, it’s possible they used some of these looks outside of WWF or that WWE abandoned/won’t pursue some of this. WWE’s track record for being petty is inconsistent so I would side with Zombie in that it wouldn’t be worth the headache if something were to go wrong.

WWF created the "Double J" character, but Jarrett wore similar outfits in Memphis prior to and after his WWF run. As long as they don't specifically put "Double J" on the packaging, they should be fine.

15 figures a year seems like a lot -- but i guess these were very profitable for him after all... I wonder if it will keep up

That’s what she said.
I really hope it does as there are tons of guys I would like to see made from every generation up through today. Some figures will be far more profitable than others…but I imagine with his current price point, he will be profitable after selling 500 (per figure). Do I know this for a fact? Absolutely not. But given the costs he has laid out previously, that seems like a reasonable estimate. The question then becomes how much is it worth to ZST to continue this and what will demand look like with continued market saturation from Mattel, Chella, and others?

on the Adam Bomb situation, Chella should have (one would expect) investigated the Adam Bomb "appearance" before committing to releasing figures of that design, but if Bryan owns the Adam Bomb name and likeness/IP rights (assuming WWE let that part lapse when they did with the trademark on the name) then if Adam has the rights to use the outfit design/likeness too, then it should be good to go
a lot of this is subject to whether WWE's legal team want to pursue cases for copyright and IP rights for characters they can't even use themselves, if Bryan owns the Adam Bomb trademark now, WWE/Mattel can't release a figure without him either signing over those rights (unlikely) or going into a partnership type deal (even more unlikely for a minor character like Adam was)
that said..... Kronik is coming too, so does Bryan also own the rights for the Kronik IP which was presumably taken over as part of the WCW sale? if so, what other characters/trademarks did WWE allow to slip through the net for the talents to buy?

ZST is working hard towards signing Owen Hart. NGL after what an ass he's been to members here, I really hope Martha doesn't allow him to make Owen.

I can see why some might feel that way. It was a very unfortunate decision and it’s created a lasting stain. However, let’s not focus on that aspect of it.
Not sure what ZST is planning for a ring but I sincerely hope it’s either a hasbro sized RSR type ring or a ring that has the real traditional colors (white mat, blue aprons).

Have to say, I agree with Warriah' -- I was on the fence about giving some of the figures a shot, but after his conduct here, I decided I didn't want to support that person. Maybe if I see the figures in person at some point and think they're really great, I'd pick one up second hand

And seems a bit expensive too, especially when adding in shipping cost; but obviously that’s just how shipping goes if you’re ordering from a different country. But I’m really happy to be getting Chella’s and Retros!

I was just thinking, no! please, faster lol. I want that Power and Glory! And others of course. I'm glad Bundy is S2 at least.

It's interesting he mentions the Bomb issues but then says he's pursuing Owen. Which we've seen from PWTs most likely means we can only get Stampede or Japan Owen if he's trying to totally stay away from WWF IP. I'm really curious to see how that goes. I'll buy Owen whatever, but I think the Owen most people want is Rocket. Which is what we would have seen had the line not ended. Martha let Ryan do the first Brawler for a fraction of what Zombie would make her on these figures. Those were limited to 250 and Zombie would likely sell a couple thousand.
Would love Fink, would love Alundra. Both fall into Double J territory for me where they're a Hasbro continuation and must have.
Surprised to hear him say he's doing a ring. Seems like that'll be expensive from him. I can't think of many rings without branding I'd even want. Mania X and an ECW ring are the two I'd love most to go with these figures and he can't do either.
Can't wait to see Raven. Really can't wait to see Raven. Funk to go with is great, and then Tanaka is huge news. Never had a figure and would absolutely love him with this ECW group. Which likely means Mike Awesome is a phone call he's also made.
