He could do Owen in his blue rocket attire as he used it in Japan too. Also no problem with a black singlet and pink heart. Close enough for my taste.

I think there was a brawler figure using that design too. In fact he even wore an early version of the Blue Blazer outfit aswell as a pink and black one that must have been a reference to his relation to the (original) Hart Foundation. I’m kind pf surprised that I know all this. 😂

It's interesting he mentions the Bomb issues but then says he's pursuing Owen. Which we've seen from PWTs most likely means we can only get Stampede or Japan Owen if he's trying to totally stay away from WWF IP. I'm really curious to see how that goes. I'll buy Owen whatever, but I think the Owen most people want is Rocket. Which is what we would have seen had the line not ended. Martha let Ryan do the first Brawler for a fraction of what Zombie would make her on these figures. Those were limited to 250 and Zombie would likely sell a couple thousand. Would love Fink, would love Alundra. Both fall into Double J territory for me where they're a Hasbro continuation and must have. Surprised to hear him say he's doing a ring. Seems like that'll be expensive from him. I can't think of many rings without branding I'd even want. Mania X and an ECW ring are the two I'd love most to go with these figures and he can't do either. Can't wait to see Raven. Really can't wait to see Raven. Funk to go with is great, and then Tanaka is huge news. Never had a figure and would absolutely love him with this ECW group. Which likely means Mike Awesome is a phone call he's also made. Also how can he say he’s staying away from wwe ip yet doing the exact Jarrett hasbro were doing down to colours and everything I get JJ wore similar elsewhere but for him to claim adam bomb is a minefield when he is making a figure depicting a wrestler working for wwe, who had a figure scheduled to come out in a wwe figure line depicting said person in wwe feels odd in my opinion

I hope this appears right in this thread because I originally asked about AEW making Legends half a year ago. This was by far the best answer so may clear up a few things about IP and such. Massive credit to stc13. His knowledge was excellent on this subject. To give you a quick idea of what should be possible, take a look at the Storm Hogan figures or the Legends of Wrestling games from the mid 00's. For example with Hogan, Storm made pretty much every iconic Hogan attire including Hollywood Hogan without issue. But they had to omit anything that would be a WWE owned trademark, such as the NWO logos on the boots or a NWO t-shirt. On the other hand, they did license the artwork for the tshirts for both Hollywood figures from the artist, which is something Mattel/WWE would never do. If you look closely, you'll see the Legends of Wrestling games use a lot of iconic attires. But there are some minor tweaks made to get around copyright/trademark issues. For example the Piper image on the cover of the game is a shirt that says "Piper!" in the classic "Hot Rod!" font. WWE owns the design for that shirt though, so it was tweaked. One of Owen Hart's attires is actually his Slammys gear (which I'm not sure Jazwares could/would make), but if you look closely instead of saying "Slammy Winner" the text just says "Owen Hart." Any intellectual property owned by WWE or another party is going to be off limits, including logos or names/phrases. So for example if they signed Bryan Adams, you could probably see a Kronik figure, but Adam Bomb would be unlikely. Same would go for things like the NWO logo, or an iconic tshirt design that WWE controls. But the vast majority of gimmicks and attires, particularly for folks who didn't work for WWE during the 90's "everybody has a profession" era are going to be possible. Where it gets muddier is that trademarks expire and needed to be renewed. It's sort of a "use it or lose it" situation. WWE actually lost the rights to the War Games for a period of time, and had to buy the rights back from MLW. So tons of gimmick names from the 80's/90's expired. In some cases, the wrestler filed for ownership of the name and used it on the indies. In other cases, nobody had ownership, but the workers continued to wrestle under that name/gimmick on the indies and and trademark was basically considered abandoned. If you google you should be able to find new stories and court cases for Brutus Beefcake and Demolition, who both fell into this situation and continue to use the name/merch outside of WWE. And of course there are going to be legal messes that Jazwares may decide to just sidestep. The Patriot gimmick is owned by Honky Tony Man, but that is disputed by Del Wilkes, who most notably wrestled under the mask. Del has PWT merch as Del "The Patroit" Wilkes. It might be possible for Jazwares to make a Del Wilkes figure in Patriot gear, but may not be worth the possible legal trouble. Or a Raven figure wouldn't be able to include any of his iconic tshirts (bands, Sandman, etc) unless they licensed the rights from whoever owns those rights. Anyone under contract to WWE is going to be off limits, at least for the duration of that contract. I expect people like DDP and Jake will end up signing with moving over the AEW merch whenever their WWE deals expire. My gut feeling is those dates are fairly soon, and part of why we're suddenly seeing new WWE figures is partially to undercut demand for future Jazwares figures. But WWE's legends roster is about as small as it has ever been, and there are literally hundreds of possibilities. So to some of the examples you noted, The Natural Dustin is almost a given, I think. Sting should have very few restrictions besides not using any NWO/Wolfpac logos, and possibly his TNA Joker facepaint. We have seen WWE need to tweak/adjust some attires as well because there's IP that is owned by another company - changing the font on Seth's Bears attire, or leaving the X off of his X-Men gear. But there will be the same ways Jazwares can/will work around limitations if they desire. But on the whole there should be more than enough meat on the bones to make put some figures collectors have been asking for for years.

In regards to Owen, if a company gets a deal with his estate, they honestly could push the envelope pretty far on the IP issue if they're willing to take a chance. I just don't see a big publicly traded company suing a widow, who's husband's death they're responsible for, over a couple logos. It would be a really bad look on their part from an optics perspective. Could they? Yeah, for sure. Would they? I personally doubt it.

I'm assuming one of the new pics i see on Zombies Insta is One Man Gang, right? When did he wrestle in that type of gear? It almost looks something Brodus Clay wore.

yeah that's his iconic look, but look at the figure mold. the shirt isn't like that. But I googled OMG MID SOUTH AND WCCW and it looks like he wore the singlet style in those territories

Looks like he may have used the same torso mold from the King Kong Bundy. Can't quite tell 100%.

It is the same torso -- it looks NOTHING like One Man... If he keeps re-using molds like this even when they don't match, the quality is really going to suffer.

Not being a fan boy, but, Bam Bam, Earthquake and Typhoon come to mind. Shawn Michaels, Macho Man, Martel, Jannetty. And there’s others. All of these figures from the line these are meant to emulate share the same molds, respectively. I’m not saying I want nothing but re-hashed figure molds, but, IMO I think it makes the figures look more akin to the Hasbros. Same for Chella. I like the fact that their figures use similar molds to the OG Hasbros. But, maybe that’s just me.

I don't mind reused molds at all. I think we'll need to see the finished product on this one as i assuming his chest and legs will be painted black (as if he's wearing a shirt and pants). I can't find any picture matching like that mold like it's depicted now. It's throwing me off the way it is

I don't have a problem with the re-using of the mold. He could have easily re-used the entire body and just have been done with it (much like Hasbro did after S2 with a lot of their offerings). Besides, OMG seemed to wear almost compression shirts under his singlet, so I don't think it will look strange at all. Don't forget, he'll be coming with a soft goods jacket as well, which will really complete the look.

Kind of like how Brodus Clay wore his attire. So it just looks odd to me

A working pizza seems completely unnecessary. Also, hope you remove the Nike logo from the shoes there buddy, wouldn't want the back end drama of Nike suing you.
