I am in the middle of reorganizing my toy room and realized my WWE Mattel figs have gotten out of control. It got me thinking what I would have done differently after over a decade of collecting this line. Here’s what I have came up with:
1. Do not buy anything past Attitude Era 2. Only collect wrestlers I really admired or made an impact 3. Only 1 figure of a character within a particular timeframe 4. No customizing or fixing up figures 5. No basics 6. No exceptions to rules 1-5
I think if I woulda made these rules and stuck with them I would have a more manageable collection. If you could go back and set strict rules for yourself at the start of this line, what would they be?

I would do one thing and it’s the opposite
1. Buy every figure period.

I stopped collecting when the contract with Jakks ended after absolutely loving the classic superstars line. I haven’t looked at figures since, and then was at Target a couple weeks back and came across the Legends Undertaker and Vader. Now while trying to sell off my other collection, I’ve rationalized that I’m trying to recreate my original BCA collection only in Mattel elites… had I come to this realization sooner I wouldn’t be eBay searching that damned flashback Goldust so much. I do find the same thing happening though, I’ve no desire for the new legends DDP or Beefcake but I keep checking online for them. Seeing the Mattel vs Jakks has been a cool transition. However, they do not have the mobility I thought they would on seeing them compared to say the Deluxe Aggression. Anyway, onward hoping we’ll eventually see an Ahmed Johnson lol

I’d do the same. I mean, crapis out of control and I have probably hundreds of figures and I don’t need so many Seth Rollins or Dean Ambroses or Roman Reigns or Randy Ortons. I have no idea why I bought 2 of the exact same Kevin Owens figure. I think I was going to do a fix-up on one but I never did and then I got his whole damn arm tatted and I’ve got 2 outdated KOs when I didn’t even need 1 because they’re all roughly the same post NXT.
No, I’m too far gone. My saving grace is that I haven’t bought the guys that debuted post 2019. I stopped watching wrestling during the pandemic, so I don’t really care much about buying the newer talent.

I wouldn’t have started collecting. I’d just put that money into savings for travel.

Seeing as I’ve only been collecting for 4 years.. I’d start from the beginning.

I’m not very aggressive as a collector because my focus is mainly on the WM3 roster. The only pieces I’m missing from there are King Harley Race and Bobby Heenan with the black jacket and that’s because I never found either.
I do have pieces I’d be able to sell or trade for Race and Heenan but that is where I’d have regrets.

I wouldn’t have been a dumbass & sold my Moc RSC 2012 Kane for $50 all while thinking it would be an easy buy back later on

I would’ve started collecting Mattel on date one. Would’ve saved me a ton of money & time going back & filling in holes.

I was telling my friends a couple weeks ago that I’m thinking of selling off a big chunk of my wrestling collection. I have 4 tubs of figures that’s my “main collection” of different eras. Then I have 3 detolf cabinets of figures on display. I wanna sell a lot of the figures in the detolfs. Most of them only ended up there because I got an updated version of the wrestler.
What I’d do different I guess is immediately try to sell older versions when I get a new one, instead of trying for an elaborate display.
I find that since I got into photography, my collecting habits changed. I collect less with display in mind and more for what I want to photograph

Would have bought a lot more doubles of legends.

I should have just stuck to buying the Women's figures. However I bought mainly basics when I started collecting and I'm now stuck with many of them. I really shouldn't have tried to collect every new First Time in the line figure that came out. Oh well.

I wouldve bought as many Elites as I can from 2010-2018 and sell them after 2019.

I would have bought more figures for retail that I had even a slight interest in.

I would’ve started collecting Mattel on date one. Would’ve saved me a ton of money & time going back & filling in holes. Same. Passed on demolition and akeem because I already had the jakks versions. Now they are so expensive on the secondary market. Would have discovered rsc sooner. The exclusives I missed out on and knowing about collectors editions and where to look for them. Wouldn't have missed gorilla monsoon, mean gene, etc.
