that , and most have rings. or can buy a 100$ AEW ring right now. i think its safe to say , almost every person who has wrestling figures has a ring in some capacity. and isnt in the market for a new ring and much less a new gen ring. That still doesn't stop people from constantly asking Steve when we are getting another scale ring. They probably just figured release a ring first with a cheaper entrance then if it works they can concentrate on bigger stages only with ways to customize the ring. well most of those asking , want a current ring , not a new gen ring. and the issue would be blue bottom posts , base, etc..etc.. itll never be good enough, from what your proposing. but i do get what your suggesting.

Wish PayPal was a payment option. Still on the fence when I really only want the figures I don't understand why PayPal isn't integrated into the site. Very poor move by Mattel IMO. Same for Amex. I was told they can’t take Amex due to them not taking the money up front. That doesn’t make much sense since I’ve been able to back HasLab and Kickstarters with my Amex and didn’t have any issues

I just think the vast majority of us only care about figures. I think the stage/ring is super cool but don’t need it in my collection. Maybe if I had unlimited display space. that , and most have rings. or can buy a 100$ AEW ring right now. i think its safe to say , almost every person who has wrestling figures has a ring in some capacity. and isnt in the market for a new ring and much less a new gen ring. I'm one of those people with a ring that really isn't in the market for a second. I've already said no to a ring with a referee.

It is kind of weird that it's not accepted here in a scenario where the card may never even get charged, but with the potential for such a small return, I can understand why they don't want to pony up the fees to American Express.

To those who keep mentioning how most of us have scale rings already or want a different era ring, Bill always said they never made accessories like a cage or cell because they didn’t sell enough rings to justify them. If this gets backed, they will have sold enough rings to justify a cage or cell down the line as a future project. Action Figure Attack even alluded that a future project like that wouldn’t require buying another ring entirely because they would just include the needed posts and ropes and skirts with the cell or whatever it is. So I guess what I’m getting at, or Mattel is getting at rather, is this ring is MODULAR. It’s meant to be the ring of all rings. Any future accessories will be compatible with it. So you’re not just buying a “new gen” ring, you’re also buying a base ring for multiple eras in the future. I love you.

I do know that Amex can be expensive, but it’s also widely used and in a case where you need support, I don’t see the wisdom in cutting it off. In my case, I went from not wanting it, to being convinced to back it, to not being able to back it. So with me, that’s at least 1 backer lost, and I can’t be the only one. Also, Sideshow doesn’t take Amex, but they take PayPal, and my PayPal draws from my Amex. In a roundabout way, I’m still able to purchase from them using my Amex. If this doesn’t get funded, I kind of feel bad for Steve. I feel like he’s done his best in trying to sell this, but Mattel keeps negating it with weird policies

Action Figure Attack even alluded that a future project like that wouldn’t require buying another ring entirely because they would just include the needed posts and ropes and skirts with the cell or whatever it is. How do you know that, though? You think they sold fewer than 5,000 rings before? Possibly, but we don't know. Regardless, just because this one would sell 5,000+ doesn't mean Bill/Steve think this would be enough to justify a cage. And the second bolded part would go off the assumption that the exact same people buying the hypothetical 2nd, 3rd, etc. crowdfunding project would've bought the 1st. Since this New Gen ring is a new scale, any new accessories will require you to own it and no other ring. So if Mattel tries to sell accessories in a future bundle, there will be at least some frustrated "investors" who'll have to pay for useless accessories. Likewise, there will be some who just want the accessories and not anything else in the bundle (which is the same issue I have with this one).

I've been putting off getting a ring and one specifically for my New Gen collection and this came a long. I think this is another example where people on the board who have been collecting for 10 plus years forget there are other people who don't have all what they have.

I get that you kinda want to self-insure such an unproven endeavor, but in doing so, they've kinda shot themselves in the foot, to a degree.

Yeah you'd have to think that they would be sensitive to, and cognizant of, the people who backed this project when thinking about future projects. Of course that's assuming that this gets made but I agree with you on all points. If you're sitting on the fence right now, there is literally no risk. If the project doesn't get the necessary amount of backers the pre-authorization charge on your credit card simply drops off.

I was thinking about this once I saw the NotSam video and also saw some discussion above. Do you think we'll see accessories for this ring down the line given there will only be a max pool of say 5000 potential buyers? Do you think Mattel would take the risk? Hope so..
This is my first time looking into crowdfunding projects so just wonder if expansions based on previous projects are common in the toy industry?

They may have. But you’re comparing two completely different entities. Remember mass retail stores are different. Maybe they didn’t sell enough to satisfy Toys “R” Us or other retailers to the point that they were going to order accessories. Shelf space is precious and is one of the main bottlenecks for bigger than life products like this. The beauty of crowdfunding is that they are cutting out those limitations that come with mass retail. Selling 5000 rings probably isn’t good enough for Target, but for selling direct to consumer it could be a whole different story. Steve said as much on the NotSam interview. I love you.

Yeah I mean if it’s not for you it’s not for you. I want another ring because to this day, no one has really made a great ring imo. They all have major flaws thus far. This seems to be the first one that nails it. I personally would have preferred a Raw Is War ring, but this is the next best thing. I love you.

Particularly if we're talking about ring skirts, ropes, etc. Anything in plastic that needs tooled probably needs to hit around that 5k number. But if it's just a screen printed cloth ringskirt? They could probably get by producing smaller quantities.

So if they do those skirts they may be a tough sell.
