Looking like a small chance of the 5k getting done by Friday (who’s going to back it after Macho deadline, really?) but the Doink seems to be resigned to the bin 😩 no chance of 7k at this point….surely Mattel know that now? Throw Doink in for one last push guys!!

If this gets funded, I have ZERO doubt the Ultimates in this set will individually sell for 150+ a year (or sooner) from now. Doink would probably be 200+ if he ends up getting unlocked. Collectors are funny that way. They won’t pay retail for a figure they’re on the fence about… but tell them it isn’t available anymore and they break the bank for it. On a project like this… exclusive Ultimates behind a timed paywall? If people don’t get sucked in by the FOMO, they’ll drown in the ocean of remorse and pay five times over for that life jacket. That ing clown will fund the buy in price on this whole set a year from now. And Nash’s first Ultimate? Gosh. Look what his first elites did when they went off the market. Sheeeeeit. I love you.
Here's my thinking on the "re-sell" subject:
Anyone willing to pay *ANY* sort of inflated secondary market price for any portion of this product....Would be the type of person *well aware of the project* and ready to fork over the $250 to hop on while it's being crowd-funded.
Why would anyone pay $100-$250 for a Doink Ultimate on the secondary market, when the only people willing to pay that high of a price...WOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN IN THE CROWD-FUND!? You'll be hard-pressed to find someone who didn't know about the Doink available with the crowd-fund, that is willing to pay a high markup on him.
Same goes for Diesel and Macho. If people buying these on eBay are CLEARLY avid collectors....then chances are, a massive % of them are in the crowd-fund. Why pay $100- $250 for an Ultimate in a year when you can get the whole ring package for virtually the same price?
The only people willing to pay any kind of marked-up price, are the ones simply unaware of the crowd-fund when it was live....and again, the type of person *unaware of the project* is very likely to be someone disinterested in inflated prices. So that mostly cancels itself out.
The re-sell idea is not a good one. These aren't going for a markup any time soon after release. Plan on waiting years if you have sights set on getting $400+ for this thing.
I don’t really know where I sit on the re-sell argument, hard to imagine that the Ultimates won’t at very least follow same trajectory as the ones that have been released already…i don’t really understand your argument, figures like the UEs that were readily available to people all over the world, god knows how many more made than this set, main line elites, all go for double, treble and above on secondary market. People could have just bought them for $20-30 when they were in stores or available online, by your argument, figures wouldn’t go for $100-200 each secondary…but they do. If this gets made, there will be 5,000 macho man figures maximum, in the world. Probably the same for the others. There’s not many figures from Mattel that we KNOW how many are out there, we will with these. They’ll definitely be worth big money IMO. You’d make profit on these easy…and you would at least get $50-100 for the ring, the entrance way, hard to say but again it’s a cool piece and you’ll only have 5,000 or so out there. Anything limited is like moth to a flame.

Wow so many have no clue about the secondary market for Mattel figs. That Macho Man will never be available for the 250 we can buy it for now.

That's fair. I'm confident Macho will fetch a decent price as well, I just think it'll take a while. That's my main point here. Not really an argument. I just feel the pool of people willing to pay high prices for these are involved in the fund. But you bring up a great point about the limited nature of these Ultimates, that will no doubt hike the price higher than any Ultimates....in time

You're forgetting arguably the biggest piece of this project, which is the LED entrance stage. So no, not just "2 UE and a ring". so 300 euros for a ring, led entrance and 2 eu?
Just telling me why an american could pay all this 215-220 euros and european 300 euros?
Make a warehouse or a european store, like 99% companies of this industry. That's why this project will fail. Have you ever asked yourself why legends line is running good? Because scalpers buy and resell on ebay to us.
10 years ago was harder to sell overseas that's why legend first lines failed.
Absolutely not why the Legends line failed the first time...

You are forgetting or ignoring two different groups of people. New collectors who come aboard between now and next year when this comes out. And people who might not necessarily have the money to pay for it now but will have additional money next year for whatever reason.

For people that think these ultimates won’t be worth a lot you have to think about this.
5000 ultimates will be made and I would assume that half of those 5000 will be opened from the package. Now we’re at 2500 moc figures that will hit ebay and I’d assume 30% if those ppl will open their figure to display.....So just like that were pretty much down to only 1200 - 1500or so Moc in the whole world.
They made 20-25k of HBK & Rock and those are going for $150-$200. These Diesel / Macho / Doink could go for $300 +

Why are people paying 250 for an HBK figure that was on Amazon and RSC for months? Look at Storm Collectibles Mortal Kombat figures. They sell for a premium out the gate. They are widely available on big bad and other sites. And as soon as they aren’t, they triple in value. I don’t know what the ring or stage will uptick to. But the figures will 100% cross the 150 line. No doubt in my mind. I love you.

listened to the major pod interview with mattel about the ring and there's 0 chance they "add" Doink to this thing at 5k backers
if it doesnt hit 7k, doink ultimate will never see the light of day, ever.

Can we just start ignoring the trolls who keep coming into the thread trying to start arguments? Don’t want this locked and we’ve already been warned to keep it positive in here.

I dont understand why you think it would never see the light of day. they literally said ultimate edition is for top tier legends/talents. doink doesnt exactly fit that mold its a VERY expensive figure to tool and produce, and might not even fit the budget of a regular ultimate edition release. they were able to get it done this time because of it being a special circumstance

Well dang, that’s a bit deflating about Doink, as for me, he is the best part of the whole proposed deal..

Does Doink need to be ultimate tho? Wouldn’t an elite with the evil head and jacket be fine?

We got over 200 backers in just under 20 hours. Probably because the Macho Pack is about to expire. They should definitely extend the Macho Pack. Otherwise the numbers will collapse.
