Official Ultimate Edition New Gen Arena Megathread

I just thought of George Costanza cold calling people trying to sell computers. “Hello!?! Wanna buy a computer!?! Why not!?! Ok, good answer!”

So, today was payday, and part of my payday routine is I pay off my credit card and look at my remaining balance. I think I’ll actually put my debit card down for this. I don’t wanna miss out on Macho Man if this does fund. The announcer option opens up a lot of photography possibilities.

If this doesn’t fund, they could come back with almost the same package and do it a bit different. Here’s some ideas:
1. Don’t take money up front. That turned off a lot of people from the jump.
2. Brand it “Legends” or “Old School” or “Retro”
3. Replace Diesel with Bret or Shawn. Make Diesel the unlockable figure
4. Include an extra set of ring skirts in the base tier. Maybe just plain blue
5. Keep Macho Man and the commentator set in the base tier, even if Macho Man is in a more toned down attire
6. Get rid of the wooden boards under the ring. It’s gonna be covered most of the time. It’s unnecessary detail and cost
7. Launch it around the spring. This is a terrible launch time. People are drained from vacations, back to school, SDCC preorders, gearing up for NYCC, gearing up fir the holiday season, and competing with a current and upcoming HasLab
8. Announce it maybe a month before launch and do some podcasts and messaging before launch. Don’t wait until after launch to convince people to get on board. Having people ready and waiting to rush the page when it goes live
9. Do some product walkthrough videos. For the most part, I still don’t know some of the finer details about the ring and entrance. I wanna see it being handled and interacted with. The pictures make the entrance look kind of small.
10. If possible, include some guard rails. At least 2-4 to go alongside the entrance

Judging by the interviews they've made it pretty clear if this thing doesn't go off we probably aren't getting anything like it for a very long time or ever again.

If it fails, I don’t think they should come back with the same set.

Instead, go with a Raw is War Ring, real scale Cell, and Attitude Era suited Vince. Early Bird: red announce table with chairs and headset/monitors. Throw Ultimate Mankind in as a stretch goal. Or you could include Mankind and make Vince the stretch goal. Either way, couple that set with no payments up front and you got a winner.

I see where you're coming from, but at this point, anyone who's familiar with crowdfunded toys knows about stretch goals and expects them. To not announce them probably would've caused as big or bigger blowback.

Again, he’s not going to say “if this fails we’re definitely gonna continue doing these.” Of course he’s going to use the smart way of thinking and say no, then tell people what could be made IF they back this. Maybe next time when you do a crowd funding don’t make the price point $250, you always start small.

It’s gonna be hard to get another one started. The higher ups at Mattel are gonna assume they put their best foot forward and it failed. It’s gonna be difficult to make an argument why they should give it another go.

If he says they’ll try again, people will be like “Well there’s other stuff I want. I’ll focus on that and go for this when they try again.” Saying they’ll try again lowers the incentive to back it now
