So how does it work? If it doesn’t reach 5000 backers then everyone gets their money back? Plus spending $250 for something that comes out summer of next year?

You are probably right but it’s their fault for wanting the money up front when no other company does crowd funding that way. So out of touch. Who doesn’t do crowdfunding this way? This is exactly how crowd funding works. I’ve personally done Kickstarter campaigns that worked just like this. The crowd funds the production of the product. If they didn’t need the crowds money to fund it, it would be like any other sale of a product. I mean taking the money upfront rather than when the campaign ends. What did you think I meant? Obviously I know crowd funding means it isn’t put into production until they get enough numbers. That is very, very obvious. |

I've seen a lot of people say they don't have room for a ring or don't want or need another one but also others asking for or wanting an NXT, Nitro, Raw set-up. It seems like a split in what people actually want but I really hope this is it for rings and they concentrate on other aspects for any future campaigns.

Can Mattel have embarrassed themselves any worse with this Comic Con?
The crowd funding project has a ridiculously low amount of orders.
The legends pre-order didn’t go as planned, as usual. I think it’s more embarrassing that during the panel they always say “IT’S UP FOR PRE-ODER RIGHT NOW” when it never is.
Most collectors didn’t even come close to getting the Amazon Exclusive Ultimate Edition figures because they went up prematurely twice now.
Mattel Creations didn’t even come close to meeting the demand with their SDCC Exclusive and it doesn’t ship until January. With G.I. Joe at an all time high in popularity, they left a lot of money on the table.
Almost no one wants to pay $40 an Elite Ciampa with the wrong torso.
They had to make a post about all the above issues for damage control purposes.
Let’s be honest this has also proven that no influencer can actually influence people to buy much of anything in this community. Just because people watch someone on YouTube or follow them on social media doesn’t mean it will drive up sales. You can have the Major guys push the Ultimate Arena but no one is buying it, literally.

If this had been a great $250 entrance playset -- it would have sold. I hope in the future, Action Figure Attack can be honest about what happened and mistakes made -- but I think this will sadly be the first and last crowdfunding project for WWE Mattel |

I have 3 wct rings and one jakks one that I’ve acquired by needing to buy them with certain play sets. What I want is entrance stages to go with them, crowds, mats, barricades, commentators etc. |

We gotta stop with the "people" or "nobody" wanted a ring comments. YOU may not have wanted a ring but plenty other have. A properly scaled ring has been something long asked for on here.
Whether you dont want it, cant afford it or whatever...thats fine...But stop trying to loop everybody in with you just to try and justify your decision.

This is my first time on the forum in probably 2-3 years and after reading this thread, I realized why I stopped coming here. While this offering isn't perfect, I'm super excited about it and what the future holds for projects like this. Initially I thought I had to buy the 2-3 I wanted for myself and potential giveaways this weekend, but I'll hold off and buy them in the coming weeks.

I don't have a problem with them offering a ring (like I said before, the upgrades are cool).
The problem in my opinion is that this was the first thing they came up with after years of people begging for crowd funding for figures (usually less mainstream ones) and playsets/accessories.
They released two rings like 3-4 yrs ago (that were eventually marked down to $60) on top of the rings released by other companies.
So I'm happy for the people that want another ring or their first ring - I just think this should have came a couple years down the road and def not as the first offering.
Imagine if they released the new gen entrance and a new Gen Ultimate, then the next tier was the Raw letters with a Attitude Ultimate, and the next tier was the Smackdown fist with a RA Ultimate.
Or if they did the Barbershop with a HBK/Brutus Ultimate, Funeral Parlor with a Undertaker/Jake the Snake/Ultimate Warrior, Brother Love set, Pipers Pit, etc.
I think those are the things people have been asking for and would expect from a crowd funding project (and new FTIL figures that might not get a traditional release or take forever to be slotted in one of the 6 CE spots each year).

If you read my threads, you will see I am INCREDIBLY supportive of this line -- and kept saying I hoped I was wrong and that this project gets funded.
What I am bothered by was being told that I'm wrong and there IS demand for this . Clearly, there is not. iF all the people who stayed off WFigs because it's negative (which it is) funded it, either there's very few of them -- or they don't like this product either.
I think WWE Mattel is a great toy line -- and Steve Ozer is literally the best toy employee right now.
But everyone makes mistakes -- this was one. And there's nothing wrong with being respectful but honest. This is going to kill Mattel Creations for large scale WWE products if it doesn't get funded. And maybe by pointing out mistakes, there is some way Mattel can still save this before next month.

You just paraphrased exactly what I said. You’re not making the connection between how his personal priorities have anything to do with Mattel. Do you want them to make the toys free so he never is caught in this dilemma again? No, they need to make more of their 30 second sellout exclusives for future releases so that people don’t have to choose between scalper prices or backing the one shot we have at ever producing a crowdfunding campaign. The slaughter figure is a limited exclusive. It’s not intended to be easily attainable. If you weren’t one of the lucky ones, you have the option of not getting it at all. He’s opting to not get the ring set at all. Most people don’t have the luxury of getting everything they want. What’s hard to understand about that? |

My buddy and I were just talking about the updated Jinder/Goldberg ring exclusives. The ring pairing took them out of regular release options for a ling time. Mattel would have hit a home run if they went with your suggested names of Jarrett or Bomb and I’ll add these two to the mix: 1. Kona Crush 2. Evil Crush |

So you’re issue is the value for the price? Unfortunately the consumer didn’t get to name or negotiate the price. Mattel is in the business of making a profit. They aren’t producing thing solely to please consumers. They’re fulfilling a consumer request but at a margin that makes it worth their while. My point was crowdfunding wasn’t the only way to sell this. You said it was. I was countering that point. Firstly, It is because they said it is. But also, the route you propose just may not have been profitable enough for them to decide to proceed which is what they alluded to many times. |
