Even though I can’t afford it, I really want this to fund. I want to see more cool stuff in the future. I’m not fully convinced they won’t try again in a couple years if this one fails. All it will take is some suit going, “Hasbro keeps making these big items and whipping up a lot of press. Make us one, too.” “We tried. It didn’t work.” “Well try again.”

If this fails and Mattel doesn’t try again with something else, they’re dumb. Hasbro’s second Haslab failed, and they just went “okay, well how about this?” and just kept chugging along. It pretty much cost them nothing to offer this. Just keep trying until you offer something more people want. That’s the whole point.
It kind of feels like they started at a price point and then figured out what they’d have to put together to make it feel almost worth that much. The sum of the parts are really not worth $250, but then you tack on “exclusive tax” and it makes sense.
What really sucks is that they’ve locked this awesome ring behind this crowd funding project. If they just offered Ringside this and opened preorders for it for around $100, I bet they’d already have more bought than people who’ve backed for the set.

I feel like if they had just made the arena and announced it as a limited edition release (like Sarge), they probably could have sold 5000 a lot easier.

While I like the idea of the Smackdown fist, I have to wonder just how humongous in size and price that would be if tried. I’d have to think it would be north of $250. At a certain point it'd be cheaper to paint your own fist silver and just hold it there for photos.

if this one gets funded, it'd be cool if going forward:
instead of getting a smackdown (for example) ring, we just get the stage, a figure, and then skirts, ropes, and turnbuckles to swap onto the ring we'd be getting now as opposed to having to buy a ring every time

I'd hope they would try another project if this fails but it doesn't make sense for them to say that I guess as then it'd put more people off backing it

Are the turnbuckles on this not built into the base frame? I must rewatch the video

Everyone, please take this into consideration that if this gets backed and goes smoothly and Mattel decides to do this again in the future, a SmackDown fist entrance stage with a Ruthless Aggression style ring or any other sets could be also made.
It already hasn't gone smoothly. Even if they somehow manage to pull it out at 5,000 -- they are still going to be hesitant to do this again.
And you stated the whole problem -- they should have started with what people actually want -- like the Smackdown entrance stage.
Even if this gets funded (which seems impossible outside of drastic action by Mattel), the damage has been done -- and we probably won't get that anyway.

what damage has been done within 4 days of a 30 day campaign?

Even when they talk about this set, they come off like they picked something that was cheap to make, not something people want. I mean, if we’re gonna crowdfund something, what’s the difference what it cost? Make it cool and people will find a way. Unicron was 800 bucks and he got backed by 10,000 people. It was simply something that people wanted. Mattel half ass puts out something that’s like, well, we picked Diesal because he’s cheap to make and nobody will be upset because we already made 3 other Diesels, and we made the New Generation set because it’s the smallest entrance. Oh and we put boards under the ring because that makes this look more expensive even though that’s the equivalent of giving the wrestlers real organs…who’s gonna see them anyway? The whole thing was done in a way where it wouldn’t tick off the people that didn’t want it, but also didn’t give the people that do buy it anything truly different. Do we really need ANOTHER Diesel? I can’t even rationalize in my mind how we’ve gotten like 4 in the first place, he wore essentially the same attire for 3 years. Had they given us Double J or something, oh, that would irritate collectors…why, because they’d want it? Isn’t that the ENTIRE point? So by default, isn’t this whole thing an admission that it’s a bunch of stuff nobody cares to have? It cost them next to nothing to throw a concept out there and ask fans, hey would you guys buy this? They played this ultra safe and tried to crowd fund something affordable rather than something we’d actually want. (I know some of you actually like this, but it’s not 10,000 of you yet like Unicron or the Sentinel, both of which were WAY more money . The Sentinel got over 20,000 backers at $350 a piece…there’s no reason wrestling can’t get just as many.) It’s a matter of making it worth the effort. If it’s cool, everyone will find a way. You can’t tell me a Transformer from an 80’s movie can sell 10,000 units at 800 bucks a pop but there aren’t 5,000 wrestling fans that will go spend $250. There’s 5,000 of us, there’s probably a million wrestling fans, this is simply something that’s not worth the effort and it shows.

If we like they just said “let’s just do a Kickstarter! Okay, what do we wanna do?” Instead of having a specific piece on mind that they’ve always wanted to do, that fans have demanded, and this was literally the only way to do at and this was the only price point doable. I could easily be wrong just my opinion.

I see people saying this is something they dont want. This is actually something I DO want and I dont but a lot. But I enjoy the New Generation. My problem is the figure choices, they've made Diesel and Doink, I just dont care. Get that Jarrett deal done, make Sid with SID pyro, find a way to get Jinsei Shinzaki to sign and make Hakushi. Do something different for this. It's not super collectible if you just keep producing the same people.

I think I also woulda preferred 3 elites over 2 ultimates. Gimme Two Dudes with all the belts and a WMX Macho.

Pretty insane they didn’t let anyone at least vote for what they wanted us to crowdfund, so they know the demand is actually there?
Instead they’re just like “Here’s a big set that you may not have wanted but we need you to crowdfund to make the cool stuff you actually want”.

sorry because I'm pretty sure this has been asked already, but i can't find it. Did Mattel say they would still produce Doink if this arena doesn't get the backing it needs?

Diesel probably could get an ultimate but in a different look. Doink parts I can see being used for an elite (1 head with 3 wigs, mallet no jacket, or jacket no mallet)

This is what I am thinking. I wonder if a lot of people will back it in the last week it's available. This way, if it doesn't get made, the $250 dollars is only out of their account for a week instead of a month. Yeah, me too. That Doink is amazing. If it doesn't get backed, I hope they find a way to release the Doink figure anyway. They have a new Ultimate Legends line, he could easily fit in there. Don't remind me about that stupid Legends line. I'm in Canada so we don't have a Target, stores that carry ultimates or very good distribution. I have no idea how I'm going to get that Batista Toys R Us has been getting the Legends, albeit a very, very minimal selection online. Hopefully we start seeing them in stores on a more frequent basis because I absolutely need that Batista.

No stores here have carried any since series 3. I highly doubt Toys'R'Us will bring this in.
