It’s a good effort. All you can do is admit you made a mistake and correct course. I think any big positive shift in moving the needle is going to help this thing. This was the right move, regardless if it’s enough a difference or not.

How does the pending payment actually work? Usually in the UK with pending payments they still lock in the money so it’s unavailable until cleared and would bounce after 7 days if it doesn’t.

How does the pending payment actually work? Usually in the UK with pending payments they still lock in the money so it’s unavailable until cleared and would bounce after 7 days if it doesn’t. From my understanding it’s placed on hold in your account so you technically can’t access it, but Mattel doesn’t have it either. I know Smyths does the same for preorders. |

But what is the pending charge? The charge is authorized but not posted. The total will be deducted from your available credit but you won’t be required to pay the balance or pay interest while the charge is pending. Your card will be declined if you do not have the available credit room. Once the charge is posted you will need to pay it off or pay the interest. Ok, but how does that work with a debit card? Isn't the money just taken from your bank balance as if you had paid it anyway? |

Without argument can anyone explain the substantial difference of being charged now or later? If the charge now conflicts with bills etc. how will it not affect those things when they charge it at the end?
I have the fund either way but still plan on waiting until the end to order it

Smart(er) move, but it might be too little too late. Damage has definitely been done. The problem with crowdfunding is its psychological. People now look at this as a failed/failing campaign. That first day was very important to get this off on the right track. A lot of people who looked in the first few days probably won’t check back now. Maybe if Cardona and people like him plug the crap out of it it’ll bounce back? It’s gonna be a tough hurdle though. I agree. It should've been like this from the start, but live and learn. The campaign was clearly failing. Not sure if this is too little too late, but at least they changed it. So that's a positive. |

Definitely. It's still pretty early, and that's a major barrier to entry they removed. At the very least they might not have to rely so heavily on last-day orders and they might have more consistent buy-ins. I'd rather see a smoother upward line than a big spike at the end.

Best thing mattel could do now is change the stretch goals. Give Doink and the skirts to everyone at 5k. I think that could be the difference between this being successful or failing

It's removed from your available balance to spend/charge/withdraw from an ATM, but it's not actually taken out of your account and given to Mattel yet. |
