For those of you who got rid of your set, did you sell the whole arena or by parts? I'm thinking of holding on, but considering getting rid of the ring.

For those of you who got rid of your set, did you sell the whole arena or by parts? I'm thinking of holding on, but considering getting rid of the ring. Personally I found it a lot more profitable to sell it in individual parts. There's a lot more people willing to spend $100 on Doink, another guy spending $100 on the stage, another guy spending $100 on the ring -- rather than finding one dude to spend $300 on all of it. I'm just making those numbers up as an example but you get the point. Seems like I see daily sales of the individual parts of the set but hardly see any full sets selling. And the full sets that do sell are selling very cheap at the moment. I was able to get a lot more out of my set by selling in pieces. I kept one set, sold one in individual parts, and then I have a third that is still totally sealed and packed away in a closet. I still hold the idea that the most all around profitable move is to sit on it and let the circulation on eBay die out a bit. Less available, the higher price you can ask.
Quick edit: Wow, I am shocked at how prices on this have risen since just a few months ago. I would not say that full sets are "very cheap." I haven't been keeping up on prices but I swear some people were losing money on these sales -- letting sets go for just around what they bought it for, and then of course eBay takes their cut. But I just looked at sold listings and the full set is back up close to $475 shipped. Someone just a few days ago sold a Doink/Diesel/Macho Man UE lot for $365 + $35 shipping! That is mind blowing. Just the ring selling for over $130. Ring/stage combo for $220. Prices are back up on this thing it seems. Could be for gift giving this holiday season? Maybe people are spending again because the economy isn't looking as grim as it was back in July/August/September.

I have the same mindset too. I've seen a lot of sets sitting at 300-400. Then seen individual stages, rings etc for a 100=130ish each. I'm definitely keeping the stage and figures for future profits. The ring is my only concern because Mattel is already pumping out another one. I think it's probably the one piece that goes for a little less, who knows? My set is sealed and stored away.

Yeah, I edited my original post after checking current prices. I can't believe how far they've jumped up in the last month or two. I went a long while without checking them because they got so low but these are not cheap anymore.

I've seen people selling at $350-450 but no takers, then see them slowly bring their prices down and still not one bites. Haven't checked ebay in case they are moving there.

When I put my ring together one of the parts was missing the clips to hook the ring mat to, am i the only person who had this issue? I contacted Mattel Creations and they want me to return the who arena and then they claim they'll send me a new one (I dont believe that for a moment) Donβt do it, they told me theyβd get me a replacement for my lost macho, waited 3 weeks and they refunded me $15. Thanks for the heads up

I backed the set for Doink, by the time my set and macho were in hand, the market was flooded. Hoping to move my set as a set( minus Doink), everything is still sealed until I am able to move the set.

My only concern is the ring and shipping. The ring being the biggest gamble because Mattel is rereleasing another one so quickly and who knows which other ones they have planned. Had I known about the raw ring, I would of sold mine. I really just wanted to convert it into a Nitro ring, but this has blue posts.

Yes, I only made my judgement off of sold listings. Not off of for sale listings.

I sent a Masters of the Universe Classics Faker back to Mattel back in the day to get a replacement (had two of the same leg), and they sent me 20 bucks. The armor alone would probably fetch 20 bucks on eBay today, and I could have used the parts for customs. So I'd never send a product back either unless it was something I didn't need or want. You could part out this ring for more than what they'd send you given the price breakdowns.

so i figured i'd throw this question out here first before making a new thread...
has anybody figured out if its possible/worth the time and effort to hardwire the entrance so it could be plugged in and controlled with a switch? i know it could most likely be done in the sense of turning it on/off, but its more the bypassing the automatic shutoff that i'm interested in. i feel like i would get much more use out of it as a decorative light if its possible to do, but no sense in it if it just turns itself off after a few minutes. its definitely a project beyond my expertise so i don't want to start messing around with it, but if its something thats possible to do...well, i might be more willing to take a stab at it
edit: and before anyone says anything about resale value...i have no intention of ever trying to sell it off. so thats not a factor for me

It's possible, but I have no idea what they actually did to accomplish it.

Especially if you donβt wire it correctly it could be a fire hazard. Iβm sure you can watch YouTube videos on how to wire stuff.
