yeah its really reaching to compare the Slaughter situation to this crowfund. 2 completely different things.
im furious i wasnt able to get a Slaughter. legit.
but i still backed this project because i want it and i want it to succeed

I never saw it from this perspective, but you’re right. This is exactly what happened to the Legends line, tag team Legends, etc. Their early legends strategy was "Let's focus on the guys/attires Jakks never made" to convince the many people saying they would never start a Mattel collection to switch over. Problem was Jakks and Mattel figs look like crap side-by-side so the strategy didn't work. (Plus I'm sure the $10 price hike didn't help). Here I think the strategy is more "the early 90s revival is huge right now (ie. Tmnt, xmen, gargoyles and beast wars) because that generation of kids has hit that sweet spot of nostalgia+money" and "this relatively simple set at $250 might be a better market test than a smackdown fist/titantron/real scale HIAC that we plan on charging $400+ for" The main issue with this project is nobody wants a dang ring. I'd pay 150 for the entrance, diesel and Doink, but a ring adds way to much cost for something I can't even display. Precisely! I’d even do upwards to $100 for just the entrance, any day of the week. |

I'd love to know the percentages of collectors who simply display on shelves/detolf cases vs collectors who do actual matches or figure photography (and would need or want an elaborate ring and entrance.)
I'm the display on a shelf collector and have no interest in or space for a ring. I wonder what would be a better crowd fund for people who display and aren't setting up arenas in their homes. Thinking along the lines of something that would also fit in and look cool on a display case is something to think about.

I lost interest in this mainly due to the price. I don’t need to spend that money on a ring when there are cheaper ones available that are just as good for me. |

After looking at this multiple times a day every day for like a week, I finally backed it tonight! I love the stage and I hope we end up getting Doink. All in all I have a lot of fondness for the new generation because it was going on when I first discovered wrestling as a kid and I’m sure I’m not alone.

That Diesel is lazy. Just reused parts. Add some leather/rubber tassels to the vest at least or different pants(silver tassels even).

I'm still hopeful they'll think of something to make this more appealing and/or advertise it to reach a bigger audience. They can always extend the time frame if they make a major change. Fingers crossed...

I’ve backed 3 of these but Mattel has done a very poor job of rolling this out with taking payment up front then not taking payment upfront to then going back to taking payment up front....Very sloppy.
If you really wanted to get ppl ordering this like hot cakes and were adamant that the price be $250 then you really should have a FTITL Ultimate Edition instead of Diesel. We already have several Diesel’s and it’s just not a wow factor.

7K- Elite Adam Bomb
8k- Announcers Desk
9K- Monday Night Raw Celing Banner
10K- Elite Baston Booger....And make it be known that this is the only figure of Baston Booger that will ever be made....So if you want it this is the only way.
