If this looks like it will reach 7000, I'll back it, but not sure I'm interested in spending so much without the Doink figure. If it was Doink instead of Diesel, I'd be in. My fear is if people wait like this instead of backing now or waiting until the end it will cause low numbers that will scare others off and this probably won't even hit the 5K You are probably right but it’s their fault for wanting the money up front when no other company does crowd funding that way. So out of touch. |

This is essentially collectors throwing egg on the face of Bill and Co for a litany of reasons that have built up, whether right or wrong. To have his version of crowd funding completely fail will damage him from a perspective standpoint within the industry, however much he would brush it off. |

im definitely going to back this thing because if it gets made i want it
but the shine has come off from the initial reveal and when i start to think about what it is, how much is costs and what it COULD have been, it makes me hesitant. and its not a big issue for me personally but i think its kind of foolish to charge people up front for something like this when its NOT guaranteed, and then have to go refund everyone if it didn't get made versus just taking the orders
it makes it seem like even they arent confident in it, so rather than worrying about people's payments getting declined and such just take it now
that fact could easily keep people away from the getgo, maybe they are waiting until a better time of the month, etc.
but if im mattel and when its getting close to the cutoff, if they are still a few thousand away they better re-think their strategy....extend that crapanother month and include Doink + the ringskirts

the Haslab preorder tier thing became a reality BECAUSE they reached the backing goal in record time....so they said hey if we can get more of you to buy this we'll give you more.
mattel is already stretching their reach from the beginning with 5,000 (this isn't star wars)....and by saying "well if we get 7,000 instead we'll give you this infinitely more amazing Doink Ultimate" its basically telling the average consumer that this thing isn't good enough on its own so we want to hit a ridiculously high number of orders to just give you an extra $30 figure

Should’ve been a complete arena setup with a pop up crowd. ehhhhh i wouldnt have wanted that. thats a lot of things to take up real eastate. plus a bunch of cardboard with printed fans? yuck. i just would have liked more accessories. ring bell, chairs, microphones, the mats that go around the ring, a belt. ...an American Flag, some of the stuff that you would see back in that era. that sh*t costs pennies and would give it more of a complete feel hell, give me a long black cloth thing to run from the entrance way to the ring to make it like an "aisle" How about a metal/"leather" strap Winged Eagle belt like the old Jakks 1/500's used to be? would have been an amazing accessory i think its cool as hell this is the most authentic ring we've ever seen, and it SHOULD be the single best ring ever made |

But there is NO assurance that they aren't going to try to sell us a nearly identical set in 9 months. With the Haslab items,they aren't making another Galactus or Sail Barge. Rings are constantly made and remade. I want some assurance they aren't going to get me to fork over $300 for the same ring with a Raw stage and skirt. Or Nitro. I don't expect those assurances, because I expect them to try to force me to re-buy a super premium item. There's zero trust. And losing consumer confidence in any business is very bad. |

I really REALLY want this set. I don’t have a ring (do they even make the scale rings anymore?) and I love this era of WWF + the Entrance, Diesel & Doink are perfect.
The issue, I don’t want to pay $250 for something I may not get, so I’m just donating $250 and then I have to wait a year to get it. Blah. If I got it next month, sure, but I can’t stand pre ordering something that comes out a year from now. I’d rather just spend triple and get it tomorrow next summer. I’m sure that’s just me though haha.
Why couldn’t they just do a payment plan even? $20 a month for 12 months, at least it’s not such a money dump for nothing. Waiting the year & paying a year out for something is a deal breaker for me, It’s too damn long. Toys are impulsive purchases.

Mattel showed a scale entrance stage at Wrestlemania axxcess years ago and I asked Bill if they had any interest in crowd funding and he said those don't work. I pray he isn't right with this.
I will say this until I'm red in the face, wrestling collectors are the most fickle collectors. They bitched with Matty Collector when they had to pay $35 for a figure. Yes that Digital River shipping company sucked.
I think the best plan of action for Mattel is mid funding, they add an additional tier ( blue guard rails and mats) at 10,000. Then show off future potential crowd funding projects to boost sales and interest. I do question the time frame of this campaign as most collectors dumped their funds into SDCC merch and presales on Mattel and other companies. Not to mention Hasbro has a current $400 campaign running at the same time. September would have been a better call. Then again, most wrestling fans start to bank cash for Wrestlemania week presale tickets.
I want this to be a success. There are so many possibilities with this campaign being funded. Some smaller than a $250 venture. We could see $150 box sets. Why not have an Ultimates NWO set? DX? Or an nWo Elite box set . A WCW arena? An ECW arena? How about a scaled Elimination Chamber? A Wrestlemania entrance stage with LEDs? I plan on grabbing 2 sets. Just to say I helped.

Steve is a lot more in touch with what the audience wants than Bill but still you can’t always put the blame on the collector. It’s almost midnight and it’s still sitting at 719 people funding this thing. It’s early but I think it’s looking like a failure. To be honest the tiers could be much better. When I think of New Generation I think of Shawn & Bret 1996 era, not 1994 with Diesel & Doink even if that is considered the New Generation. |
