Me & my friend was watching alot of the AEW shows a few weeks ago, as we were watching Dynamite/Dark/Elevation, it occured to us as the matches went on during the show that almost every wrestler on the roster are aligned with a certain faction to the point we were counting how many there are in total on the show. I've counted atleast twelve without too much thought put into it while writing this post, i'm probably missing a couple but do you think twelve is too many?. I can't think of any other promotion that had almost every wrestler on the roster tied to a faction, to me 4 or 5 is probably enough, hell the attitude era and Vince Russo WCW era didn't have as many as AEW today..
What do ya'll think?..
- The Elite - Inner Circle - The Pinnacle - Dark Order - Jurassic Express - Best Friends - The Nightmare Family - The Factory - Team Taz - Death Triangle - The House of Hardy - Dolph Zigglers' Brothers Faction(forgot the name)
Hell, at this point it's criminal that AEW don't do some kind of "gang wars" style match/themed ppv with all the different factions waging war amongst one another to find out who's the dominant super group running the show.. then again, the Elite/Bullet Club 2.0 would come out on top i'm sure..

Personally, I freaking love it. One of my favourite parts. I wish there wasn't as much interference from it, but that has been improving lately.
All a matter of taste though, for some it may definitely be too much, and I get that. Going back to being a young kid in my fig fed days, I loved making factions, and loved the idea of a best faction belt, so this is right up my alley.

That's what happens when you constantly hire anyone that you see wrestling on the indy feds and then don't have a clue what to do with them. You put them in groups!

Yeah it’s a bit of overkill but I guess it works considering how many people they are signing. They have so many very good tag teams that are just randomly in factions, I don’t like it.

I'd be all for a gang war storyline.

I don’t mind the amount of factions, but I don’t need to see teammates accompanying each other to the ring nearly every match. Just my preference.

I like having lots of factions and sub-groups. When WWE had that going on in like 98, it was awesome. Compare it to WWE now where a lot of people are on their own. 2 guys feud and they have rematch after rematch after rematch. It gets so dull and drags. Meanwhile, if you have factions feuding, there’s so many different combinations of matches you could do. It just gives a story some more legs in my opinion.

AEW is set-up perfectly to introduce a 6-man World Tag Team Titles. Great opportunity to get more talent exposed and in big time “title” matches. Then occasionally have the World Tag champs win the 6man belts as well to really put them over.

They should have an entire PPV of Elimination Matches with all these factions.

They should have an entire PPV of Elimination Matches with all these factions. They can call it… Survivor Series.

Isn't it a nod to Japan to do so many factions?

You can never have too many factions. Keeps things interesting IMO.

I am in favor of people running together. If you think about it the Heenan Family was a faction, Jimmy Hart’s stable was a faction. Just being in a faction doesn’t mean that they have to all be up in each other’s business constantly. Besides, some people just can’t be interesting enough on their own. Who cares about Shawty Johnson or Aaron Sallow on their own? Being in the Nightmare Family and Factory respectively give them at least some type of backstory, built-in logic for being plugged into the card somewhere, and some more popular allies to send out and get a reaction instead of crickets.

I love it. The use of factions and managers has been fantastic overall. It's an element of wrestling that has been missing for a long time.
It also just seems...logical? If you're in a competitive environment where people are beating the crap out of each other, it makes total sense to have alliances and a group of people working together for mutual benefit. It's a subtle, but effective, piece of logic. Obviously wrestling is totally immersed in suspension of belief. But some of those subtle details that make it feel more "real" really go a long way for me. It's also an easy way to get some extra time for folks and make use of their full roster size.

I like how fluid it is, like yeah they're factions but they're not always featured together, the alliance is there but guys are doing their own separate business too. Its why I think a trios championship would work really well for AEW.

It's simple, just create a Stable Championship. Belt, cup, recognition, etc. Then you can have factions face one another, etc. and there's a reason for them to be there.
