I wasn’t following wcw at this time - was it well known and mentioned in tv etc that this was Brutus? Or was it supposed to be a mysterious new character? How come nobody ever talks about his “the butcher gimmick”?! He got a main event title shot

Mattel did a great job and nailed this one. But I have no desire to own this one.

I love WCW, I love wrestlecrap. I'll still buy this figure, but it's probably not in the top 10 of Brutus gimmicks I wanted.
I think the disappointing thing for me is that it looks very similar to the first Beefcake they made. Wish they would have picked a more colorful attire for that one, since there were plenty to pick from.

Wrestlecrap is perfect for the limited edition store exclusive thing because I don’t care if I get it. Jim Neidhart was a bad choice. Kassius Ohno was a bad choice. Pete Dunn was a bad choice. Bob Backlund is a hood choice. The Zodiac is a good choice. Kama I’m on the fence about. The Fighting Machine or whatever it’s called is a better choice for that than Nation of Domination Kama would be. I’m still waiting on him to complete the Nation. Also need an all black Godfather with short cornrows.

You guys talking about Wrestlecrap has just reminded me that I wanted to make a custom of "Super Shane". Because if there's ever an absurdist moment in WWE history for me to commemorate in plastic, it's when Shane took a level in Barbarian, activated his "RAGE" ability, and bested three legacy main eventers at once.
I mean, I love the guy and all, but... why?

They put 'ying and yang' on the back instead of 'yin and yang'.

This is a great deep cut. With the Shark -- if we can get a few more and Kevin Sullivan -- the Dungeon of Doom would be so amazing

Little known fact, Zodiac debuted in 1993, during the opening credits of Mr. Nanny.

I’m still confused about the random bump on his stomach. Can anyone explain?

OMG -- yes! I forgot about Mr. Nanny. I put a question for Action Figure Attack in the Q&A -- about why we didn't get Suburban Commando, Mr. Nanny in the movie line. I assume it was due to rights issues, but those figures would have been so popular

I had to google who this was. Thought it was some NXT guy. I figured it was a jobber from early WCW. Couldn’t believe this was Brutus Beefcake

Looks superb. On the other hand that Trish face looks terrible and the attire lazily slapped on.

How come nobody ever talks about his “the butcher gimmick”?! He got a main event title shot Maybe because it was short-lived. Thinking back on it now, that was the perfect name change for him. Since he was a heel, and he couldn't use the Barber, the Butcher made perfect sense. Usually, when you get a bad hair-cut people say you got "butchered", so in this case it works perfectly for him.

1994-1996 was a pretty strange time for WCW, they tried to bring in as many former WWF talents as they could but they couldn't use the gimmicks that got the guys over in WWF so you saw a bunch of silly gimmicks like Zodiac. I liked Zodiac, I liked Shark, I don't know why but something about those gimmicks stood out to me. Maybe it was because of how awful the gimmicks were yet both guys gave it everything they could.
Brutus went from Butcher to Zodiac to Booty Man in like a year and a half. I don't remember it but apparently it was mentioned Booty Man was a Hogan friend who went undercover in the DOD to help Hogan. And he technically wasn't the same character as Butcher who disappeared after a loss to Kevin Sullivan at Slamboree. I am a huge Kevin fan, I would say he is one of the top nicest guys I ever met (I'm talking legit, no money exchanged with anyone, no cameras around nice-not "you pay to meet me, I'll the nicest guy you ever met" nice like some guys) but what the heck was he thinking with some of things he came up with in the mid 1990s WCW?
Edit: I just realized Zodiac wasn't even Sullivan's idea, it was done earlier in Mr. Nanny so Hogan's friend could get a spot without being able to use the Barber gimmick. Still, I know Kevin came up with some of the DOD ideas to make Hogan happy and get to re do some of his 1980s, 90s feuds.

When I see stuff like this, I just get myself into a frustrated mood.
For the Zodiac, we get soft goods tassels, two new really good head scans, a perfect choice of parts and seemingly flawless paint apps.
But we can't get the correct boot molds, paint apps, or decent headscans for current stars. It took two years to put the right boots on an Elite Gargano. They ruined Karrion Kross' first Elite with huge calves and big kickpads. They put little Kalisto arms on the first Elite Riddle. We are somehow working backwards with the new RSE Ciampa figure and taking away the ripped torso and changing it out for an elite Daniel Bryan body.
I just wonder where priorities are sometimes.

The priorities are on the Legends. It's what most collectors want -- and given the age of the designers, I bet they feel the same way. You think they get excited to make Karion Kross and the nth Gargano?
