Are you a collector that has to get everything in the series even if you don't really want them? For example I wanted to get a modern day Goldberg elite from the Wrestlemania series, but I didn't like the other toys in the collection but I felt like I had to get them because the Goldberg toy would look out of place MOC. Ultimately I passed on getting the Goldberg toy because I didn't want to get the others but before I have completed a series with toys that I DIDNT really want just because there were one or two toys that I really DID want in the series. I mostly feel the need to collect the full line because it ties up loose ends. Recently I got the Andre the Giant Wrestlemania basic and kept it MOC, but now with displaying it next to my other Elite boxes for a few weeks it looks out of place and like a bit of an eyesore really so now I'm thinking of getting the other basics in this series - Ricochet, Andrade, Fiend and McIntyre, even though I didn't give them a second look when I first saw them at retail, and even though it will use up some of my budget put towards toys that I don't really want, just to make the Andre toy look less out of place.
It's weird how these 'collections' work, how it can sometimes play tricks with your mind. Do any of you get the same problem?

Nah, I've got to the point where I only really need one figure of a person, unless there's a massive update to them or I'm a big fan.
Some examples: AEW 5: Only bought SCU due to have AEW 2 Mox/Page and RSC Jurassic Express, so to me, I have that full set.
Elite 87: I'm buying Asuka as it's a huge update to her original Elite
I will get multiples of HHH and Undertaker for nostalgic reasons.
I honestly think I've only completed 1 maybe 2 sets since Mattel took over

I honestly only collect what I want. I do buy multiples of certain characters because they have so many iconic looks but others I'm happy with just 1-2

I don't collect toy lines. I just collect toys of characters I like.
I am very much not a completionist, which I think has brought me a lot of joy (and extra cash) in life. Before getting back into action figures, I was heavily into board games, and the amount of completionists there who wouldn't buy a game unless they could get every expansion, promo and limited exclusive just baffled me. I was the opposite. I'd want to avoid every extra I didn't need. I loved selling excess components to make my copy of the game the perfect version for me, at the lowest price. I try to be the same with action figures. Only buying what I really want, selling excess accessories that would only end up in a drawer. I loathe having to buy complete sets for Build A Figure type scenarios.
If I was a MOC only collector I may feel a little differently though. I think MOC figures look awesome on display, especially when you have a bunch of them that match, but when you have that one odd box it really hurts the look. I have an Entrance Greats Bobby Roode that is just an eyesore. And a D'Lo Brown that doesn't match anything. So I understand that being an annoyance.

I am a minimalist. It makes me feel good to not want a figure.

I used to want every legends and flashback that came out. Now? I don’t really care if I get them or not. I’m just not into the lines like I used to be and I’m tired of having the same figures over and over

I collect EVERY elite, have everyone from elite 12-87 MOC plus exclusives & multi packs. Sitting at almost 600 MOC ELITES. I forgot about AEW too, need a few more from unrivaled 6 & unmatched 1.

Thankfully, no. I don’t know how people do it. Mattel essentially works against anyone who’s a completist, especially when they have distribution issues and something like Harley Race happens. Then to fill your collection, you’ll be looking at a crazy markup on the secondary market. I learned pretty quickly when collecting Mattel that being a completist for this toy line would be sheer insanity.

Not at all - collect favorites from various lines. I feel sorry for completionists tho..

I don't have a problem with completion. Generally I don't try, unless it's a more limited line.
I tried to get all the Retros, and I'm missing four. I'd like to get JYD, but I won't pay 100 or more for him. It's not that important. I have all the Masters of the WWE Universe so far, and I'll try to get the rest.
I definitely don't do it with ongoing lines. With stuff like Elites or Legends or Ultimates, I only get what I want. I only recently completed my first wave when I got all of Legends 11. Usually there aren't enough I want even in a single wave of any line.

No. That honestly sounds like something that should be followed by the word syndrome.

Realistically no. I buy figures that i want for my collection and occasionally that ends up being an entire set.

When I was a kid, I used to buy as much of a series that I could find. It didn’t help that I grew up during the Jakks RA era where the tag line was “don’t be a punk, get them all!”
Nowadays, I only buy multiple figures of the guys that I really like (Hardy Boyz, Rollins, Owens, HHH, etc.). Others I just get one or two of them that I like most, and unless they get a new look or new attire I really like, then I’ll update.
