Has anyone noticed this? It’s either painted skin tones on dark plastic figures or still using old creeky joints for the upper legs.
Painted skin tone hand molds Kama had a painted lower torso which scratch’s off if using the abb crunch to pose around. Just got Col.Mustafa and again the whole upper torso is skin painted on dark green plastic. Looks terrible. Latest Dusty felt like it could snap at any minute when using the legs even after bathing it in hot water.
Mattel just seems to really cheapen out on the Legends line or Legends in the elite line.

That's how they've been doing singlet torsos for ages now. It's not just legends...right off the top of my head, I know the E64 Pete Dunne is the same way.

I got the new Dusty and his legs didn’t bend at all. So I returned it and got a new Dusty. His legs bend, but pretty much just bend all the way forward and all the way back almost like a cheap ratchet joint with only two positions. But that’s the same way my E60-something Dusty is. The complaints you’re making have been that way for a few years now. Most parts are 10 years old and Mattel had to figure out a way to cut costs as the cost of manufacturing increases. I assume it’s cheaper to cast black torsos and paint them flesh colored. I haven’t had any problems with paint chipping off yet.

While I absolutely understand your sentiment and frustration, I realistically don't think Mattel would cherry pick which figures have better or worse "raw materials" (as opposed to which ones have noticeably more detail, a higher budget, etc.). The issues you're describing I have noticed on some of our figures that we sell, and I view it as a quality control issue more than anything. The joint situation is almost unpredictable from figure to figure, but 98% of the time, I find no problems.
If Mattel were to up their QC, that would result in higher costs for all of us. For the value they offer at their price point, I'm fine with the loose joint/QC mistake here and there.

Prices going up, but they keep doing this crap. It's horrendous looking. In a year after a child gets ahold of it the part is damn near all black.
I don't understand it. Maybe it's a business move? The toy gets scratched to hell, and you gotta buy a new one? Gotta prove me wrong on that one. If the piece was casted in skin tone, it's a lot easier to patch an area of black instead of taking time to match skin tone.
If a singlet is black, I can understand if the bottom piece is molded in black, but the top needs to be molded in skin tone.
Look at the new Trish, instead of just making her outfit past her shoulders, they put a sliver of skin tone on tip of her shoulders and it just looks like garbage. Nevermind her face sculpt.

My Bam bam feels kind of cheap and so does Vader. I think it’s just the figures in general. I remember my survivor series coming with half his shoulder unpainted. Btw, does anyone else fear that the rubber or soft plastic used on the ultimate edition sockets are going to wear out over time or change color?

I don’t recall them having rubber or soft plastic on the sockets. I am worrying about the AEW figure’s rubber being used on the torsos drying out and disintegrating over time. I am pretty sure someone posted on the AEW boards it’s already happened to one of his figures. dont worry, the price of Legends figures just went up to $21.99 My local Target is selling Elite LEGENDS for 27 DOLLARS!!!!! While I have read toy manufacturers needs to raise the prices because it’s costing them a lot more to ship containers now because of the pandemic in this case that’s Target raising the prices not Mattel. We have one Target here that on average is $5 more than every other area Target on ML, WWE, McFarlane, SW, GI Joe’s and AEW. Anytime I go there and get something I have them price match the website or other Target’s prices.

I'm a bit concerned.

I wonder on the scanning v sculpting cost ratio.
I’d wager a lot of the legends which are sculpted rather than scanned for various reasons have much higher costs?
The cost involved in someone sitting there meticulously sculpting v a machine you sit in and it’s done in seconds

I think we are going to hit the $40 dollar prices really soon. I heard conversations thann many manufacturers have seen 20-40% increases across the board that they have been eating for the last few months. Be prepared to buy less and be selective if you want action figures I guess.

oh yes . its a glaring issue for me. check out Razor torso differs from the arms/legs, HBK WM BAF elite same thing arms dont match the torso. HHH has the same issue, theres prob more ive just yet to look at them under my good lighting or take a picture of them with the flash on. lol. but it seems to be way more common there not matching the tones even with molded skin tones like HHH and HBK. And the new headscans on basics arent even close to matching elites of the same person. the Ghostbusters HBK had a all white tone. series 100 HBK almost matches it but wont match any of his original elites.. its a like playing skin tone roulette now.. Hell even Austin UE has a more slightly tannish tone than his regular elite and the Milk o mania elite which is the whiter tone.
