I was scrolling on FB today and I saw a post on one of the groups and someone had talked about being set up at a comic con that Greg the hammer was at and that he was the only person selling WWE figures. He said that he had walked up to his booth and saw he had a figure of his and asked if he could have it. He said he was never able to get one and really wanted it. So he did in exchange for a photo.
Well come to find a lot of people have had similar experiences in the comments of the post. Like a lot. So I’m just curious. Has anyone else had similar instances of this? Cause this seems kinda messed up. Lol. Never thought he’d be so after an elite like us. Some people are just saying he’s got a good hustle and you gotta respect it, but I disagree. Just seems sleezy.

Nothing new here many wrestlers sell their own figures at comic cons all the time.

Well I am sure the guy wasn’t selling it for retail cost so maybe Greg just doesn’t want to see a scalper making money off his name. So good for him.

Wouldn’t surprise me. Dude literally looks like a potato with hair though so why would anyone trade a figure for a pic with him? Look at him, looks like a carny to me:

Greg's always been a crook. Have you never seen The Goonies?

Its hard to determine based on how you tell the story who was the buyer and who was the seller.
If it was hammer taking a pic with the seller in exchange for a figure and hammer commonly does this, id say its an easy way for him to get his figures to then sign and flip at his own merch table when doing conventions

Yeah, a little hard to tell who was who in the first post. But I will say there is an interview with Greg on YouTube in his home office and he definitely has the Legends 7 figure. Maybe he was looking for the chase lol.

The way I read that was Greg went to a stall at Comic Con and seen a stall holder was selling a figure of him he didn't have, so he asked if he could buy/have it. The stall holder swapped it in exchange for a picture with him.
If that's right, then I have no problem with that. Maybe a lot of the legends don't get their figures.
I had a conversation with Sgt Slaughter on Twitter because I posted my 1/20 and both 1/100 Classic Superstars and he said he didn't own the 1/20 and was looking for one. Maybe Greg didn't have his Legends and was looking for it.
I don't see a problem.

Do the wrestlers get comped a few figures (or even a case) from Mattel? Always wondered that.

I understood the story because I’ve heard similar accounts. Hammer tries to pull at your heart strings by telling you he’s never been able to get his hands on his own figure and then offers you something of lesser value in a trade. Meanwhile he’s got a whole pile of the figure that he slaps his auto on because there’s a bigger profit margin on the figure and what he trades you really cost him next to nothing.

I’m more surprised he was walking around. I met him back in like 2015. He was at a table with Brutus Beefcake and Tito Santana. We did a group pic and we all literally had to wait like minutes for him to finally get out of his chair and get into the pic.
I remember being at a con in 2017 and Godfather was there. He was smart. He was Godfather the first half of the day. Then, he left and came back as Papa Shango to get people to double up on photos. Anyway, someone in front of me in line was getting him to sign that Warrior & Papa Shango 2 pack. He was telling the guy that he had reached out to Mattel and WWE to ask if they could send him a pack, but he never heard back so he had to hunt it down at Target. He was like “It felt real weird spending money on a figure of myself”

Given how many times has this guy been dropped on his head throughout his career have you considered that maybe he legitimately doesn’t remember ever getting this figure repeating the cycle over and over at every con he attends?

Sorry for the confusion. It was Valentine who went to the OG posters booth and saw the og poster selling the figure. Valentine asked for it cause he said he never got the figure before and he really wanted one.

I remember when the Four Horsemen Studios were designing/sculpting the DCSH/DCUC & MotU figures for Mattel they said they didn’t even get final product from Mattel and had to hunt them down at retail.
