Leave my man alone. I’d love if Hammer walked up to me. I’d make him put me in the figure four

"wrestlers have a right to prevent people from making a few measly bucks off their mass-produced plastic toys because they're making money off their career" is officially the dumbest take i've ever read on this site and i've sadly been here for almost 20 years My thoughts exactly.

But I never said he had the right to, I just said if I was Valentine I would be pissed. I am not even saying he is or was, but rather if I was him I would be pissed at some nobody trying to capitalize on my name. But in the 20 years I have been here l’ve never changed my stance about my thoughts on scalpers. As far as collecting goes third party sellers buying newly released items solely for the purpose of flipping them while trying to rip everyone off with their 100% markup are the second most scummy people ruining the hobby. Only swappers are worse. But I won’t feed a scalper. Never have and never will. So when I read about someone taking advantage of one it puts a smile on my face. What is it everyone on here who defends scalpers like to say? Capitalism? Supply and Demand? Well, Hammer just found a way to do what they are always preaching at a lesser out of pocket cost…so good for him.

Funny af to see a scalper complain about being shafted 🤣

He's a wrestler from the territory days and the son of a wrestler, it's basically a given that he's a carnie.

Although I don't like scalpers in general, what you've described is just retail sales.
I'd also argue the point about anyone making 'something off' his name. Greg would be getting paid for those figures being made in the first place. He'd have cash in the bank from his name/likeness/etc. being used. Also, at what point is someone a scalper? Some older elite figures sell for a lot of money nowadays. Is everyone that's selling for above the RRP a scalper? It's a difficult one to distinguish.

No it’s not difficult at all. And that’s not retail sales. Retail sales are $21.66 after tax here in NY for a Valentine at Target. And I said what a scalper is above. It’s not someone selling off their older figures. It’s buying newly released items at retail just to flip them right after at an outrageous markup. So good for Hammer beating the guy at his own game.

But retailers buy a product, mark it up 100%, and sell it on. That's retail sales.
What's being described by the OP here sounds more like some guy buys lots of figures and sets up a stall selling them at conventions and such.
Doesn't sound like a scalper at all.

Props to Greg. If you're DUMB enough to fell for his schtick, you deserve to lose basically zero profit on a figure in trade for a possible picture worth zero value. You guys are acting like he stole some kids cancer medicine. Let the washed up star from like 30 years ago have some fun ... in the meantime ... stop caring about WWF stars from 30 years ago. Move on.

What's being described by the OP here sounds more like some guy buys lots of figures and sets up a stall selling them at conventions and such. Doesn't sound like a scalper at all. Mass retailers buy the product from the toy manufacturer and stay within the MSRP. RSC is a specialty store who also buys their product from the toy manufacturers and have it shipped to them overnight. They don’t send employees to every Target and Walmart in a 50 mile radius to buy every hot/popular figure on the pegs like the biggest scalper store does here in Rockland NY. So I have no problem with RSC marking up figures because they are paying extra to get it shipped to them from the manufacturer. So their markups are paying for their buildings maintenance and operating cost (employee salaries, power, water, etc) and the extra cost of the overnight shipping. As well as to make up for all the pegwarmer/unpopular figures that will sell for under MSRP during their sales. This guy went to Target or their website and bought it for the sole purpose of flipping it for more than the MSRP. You can try and spin it any way you want but the guy was a scalper. If the guy wants to sell figures then he should get an account with the manufacturers and open a store and sell all the figures in the sets. And I am done wasting my time on this.

Its 2021...If you dont slap your thigh 37 times and cant do at least 13 flips or dives in a match, you're just not cool to these kids any more. There's wrestling & then there's gymnastics in tights...Some people just prefer gymnastics in tights
