They will never sell the first batch of figures as they could be on the secondary market with no indication that they are defectives (and so hurt the brand image). Hmmm, good point. Unless they did something to indicate that it was the first batch - like maybe put a sticker on the bottom somewhere that indicates that. But that is a good point though, it would be hard to differentiate them. Also, TWC put out another Email today offering $10 off per figure if you buy 3 or more, bringing the total down to $69 per figure, if you want them. I am hoping that based on the speed these are coming down in price, we get to the $50 range within a few weeks. I would bite on the 3 I need to open then.

If TWC isn’t Powertown did they give them their mailing list or something? I don’t remember singing up for TWC and everyone who ordered from Powertown seems to get their emails

If they don't at least sell the Belts and accessories separately from the defected figures they're missing a trick

If they don't at least sell the Belts and accessories separately from the defected figures they're missing a trick I agree. Unless they write it off as a tax thing, they should be selling these somehow. If they go the route of writing them off as a tax thing, then they legally cannot do anything like pull the belts out. However, if it were me, I would put some sort of sticker on the bottom of the box, stating something like FIRST RUN - DEFECTS, and sell those at a discount. Like $35 or so per figure. I am sure MIB people would be perfectly happy with those, at least some would. I already have all 6 MIB, and also Brody, Hansen, and Von Erich as openers, and now that I have them in hand I regret not having the other 3 as openers. If this were to give me an option to get at least Gagne as an opener (MIB the defective and open my Gagne), then so be it, I would be all over that. That said, I am also hoping the prices keep coming down from TWC as if they do get to a certain point, I would get the remaining 3 that I need to open. But $69 each is not there yet.

Do we know when the Matt Cardona/Brian Myers 2-pack preorder ends? Assuming the Series 2 lineup will be revealed after the preorder is completed.

But hopefully after that we get news on Series 2.

Yeah, I’ve been patient waiting on news for S2 & I know the major pod/ bro 2 pack is up (but that’s not the classic guys we are waiting for) and they got the remco style next but they really need to at least announce the lineup or pre order date for ultra S2. The excitement for these are high & I worry powertown is trying to expand and do too much too soon. I agree with Cardona on his latest podcast that they are bigger & thicker than Mattel so they don’t really look great on the shelves with Mattels. Just like A Mattel would look off on a shelf full of power town. So Powertown needs to start churning out some more releases and capitalize on the demand while it’s still hot.

So now that Series 1 has been released & shipped, it is surprising not to get any information on the Series 2 lineup, at least, by now. It doesn't look like we will see anymore Powertown figures (besides Cardona/Myers) for quite a long time. It's going to take around 350 years to get those 200+ wrestlers that Powertown signed into figure form at this pace.

I’m hoping that series 2 is about done, so that when they announce, it’ll be ready to ship asap. Although, it’s probably wishful thinking because they will have to go through pre orders, find out how many they’ll sell, then start production.

I would guess they would start production before the preorders end, and base things off the number of orders from Series 1. I have to think with all he positive reviews they have received from Series 1, that the next few series would be bigger sellers, so hopefully they get something out there soon.

I was under the impression that after the initial wave, they’d have a faster turn around for pre orders. I still think they will. I believe they claimed they’d do 2-3 ultra waves per year. But that sounds wishful thinking. We’ll Be lucky to get a 2nd wave in hand by end of year at this rate. Lol

Lol Steve Rosenthal said exactly that in a (somewhat) recent interview - maybe the one where he confirms Madusa in wave 2. They have been going not much over a year now, so maybe once they get into the groove. I also wonder if this whole Matt Cardona/Brian Meyers figures threw a bit of a wrench into their process. To be blunt, it feels like these two figures were produced as a vanity thing for those two - as a trade-off to get them to talk more or better about Powertown and get Powertown more exposure. If that is the case, I fully understand why they did it, but it does seem at odds with the rest of their 'mission' - to financially help the wrestlers from the 60s-80s that may need the financial help now. Once this is done, I am hoping to get back on track. They have promised to introduce the Remco line, and that hopefully has it's niche (it just isn't mine personally). A perfect world they can alternate waves - 1 wave of Ultra, 1 wave of Remco, then repeat on down the line.

azraelmsAgreed & I am hopeful you are right that they can alternate between ultras & remco style once they get the first wave of that out and be a little quicker in releases. Interesting & likely take on the cardona & myers 2 pack. I too get the exposure of having those guys hype up the Powertown brand. Like you said A) they don’t really fit the company message & B) these are the last 2 guys that need new figures asap. (Regardless of How much you like or don’t like them.) So likely a way to show off powertown’s capabilities with a pair of modern guys who don’t wear plain single colored trunks like many of the legends from the 60s-80s wore. I’m chomping at the bit for how many legends they can do from the “territory days” in the ultra line. So frustrating it’s taking so long for an announcement on S2. Guess that helps our wallet for now. Ha

I think the Cardona / Myers figs are a flex / “hold my beer” moment for PowerTown. These are two guys who have had figures done by almost every company out there and the majority have been well done. Instead of being possibly intimidated, PowerTown comes out with renders that easily top any previous Cardona / Myers figs. Assuming the actual figs live up to the renders, it will help build the brand. PowerTown can be past and present just like Mattel.

I just hope they don't get too into 'Present' and stick to the 'Past', but that may just be me. I watch WWE and AEW. None of their current wrestlers will be represented, obviously. Getting figs from the 70s and 80s territory days ticks off so many boxes, that I hope that is what they stick with,.

Honestly, my hype for these has gone way down since I got series one a few months ago.

Honestly, my hype for these has gone way down since I got series one a few months ago. I totally get that, but for me that is mainly due to the lack of news. The last rumored lineup for Wave 2 (from last October) was this: Gorgeous George Wahoo McDaniels Ivan Koloff Nikita Koloff R&R Express Robert Gibson R&R Express Ricky Morton But this could change as Madusa was 'confirmed' by Steve Rosenthal a few months back. If these 6 or 7 figures were confirmed, and they looked as great as the first wave, my excitement would be right back just as it was after seeing the first renders of the first series. I just hope when they get a pace going and leave us with more to anticipate to keep the excitement going. What I mean is to announce Series 2, with renders or pictures, and also announce just the lineup for Series 3. Then maybe after Series 2 starts to ship, show the renders/pictures for Series 3, and announce the lineup for Series 4, so we always know 2 lineups, and am always looking forward to what is next - either the next lineup announcement or the next images to be released.
