I'm still thinking a little less than half of the New Gen sets were actually backed to be flipped. Those people want to see what kind of return they'll get before backing anything else. So it's definitely worth it to Mattel to hold off on announcing the next one until the New Gen sets are out.

Well looks like we won’t find out at SDCC which is fine for me. nope. too bad. was hoping to find out what it was. I am assuming they want to make sure the new gen is delivered and people are happy before getting into the next one. Smart decision. Agreed.

I really hope it's just figures/accessories and not a giant set piece. They said they don’t need to crowdfund figures. The point of these is to go all out on and make huge play sets or stages that they couldn’t sell in retail

And I’m talking regular elite style figures or ultimates. Yup. Steve and Bill commented on this months ago. They said there's no need to crowdfund figures. They would just make them and put them in the Elite or Ultimate line. They're using the crowdfunding for things retailers wouldn't carry or larger items that would be otherwise impossible to get out.

But, for many backers, it was the figures that were the biggest selling point. It would have been interesting to see if the project would have been funded without Macho Man.

I think crowd fundings are going to have to be something big. I mean the next 3-4 projects are almost no brainers. Hell in a cell, elimination chamber, smack down fist, and some version of raw stage. All 4 of these come with so many options for ultimates that would sale. And I think getting backers wouldn't be as hard as the new gen. I wish they would have actually let us vote on the next project or the one after that. But we just have to see what's next

And anyways, 85% of those “votes” will be people who wouldn’t fork the money over anyways when he time came.

They should crowd fund figures of wrestlers that aren’t under a legends deal. Jeff Jarrett for whatever reason works for WWE but isn’t under a license deal. Have Mattel work directly with Jeff and add the cost into the crowdfunding of an ultimate Edition figure.
For example charge $40 for an ultimate of him with light up glasses and coat with a guitar. If it gets 10,000 backers then Jeff will get $5 for every figure sold. Something like that.

If they were able to do that y'all would probably be sick of Jeff Jarrett figures by now.

Yeah... there's no doubt it was the figures - and Macho in particular - that sold this set. I (and no doubt many others) only bought it because of the figures... I'll probably end up selling the ring and entrance thing. I'd much rather have figure sets over rings/playsets etc.

I'll probably end up selling the ring and entrance thing. I'd much rather have figure sets over rings/playsets etc. I don't think it's that cut and dry, but I do think without Macho and with a Haslab style rollout, the project either falls short or just clears the 5k mark, but no stretch goals. The rollout was a hot mess, and they turned away a lot of buyers trying to collect payment up front. There was no incentive to back the project early and leave money tied up even longer, so initial numbers were terrible. That made the project look like a loser that wouldn't get funded, only further making people think they shouldn't back it and have their money be tied up. It was a catch 22. They modified the payment process AND added Macho, giving people an incentive to back the project early on if they were interested. Compare that to how Hasbro is handling their current HISS Tank crowdfund - the early bird figure is available to everyone as long as it hit X orders by Y date and payment is collected at the end of the project. It blew by the early bird goal and all the stretch goals in a matter of days. I think what Macho did show is that collectors want premium figures of key characters, and they value number of figures figures in the core offering. The Doink figure was great, but was a stretch goal. And a Diesel UE that we've essentially gotten multiple times over as an Elite didn't move the needle. Hopefully they take notes for future projects and there's more emphasis on number of figures, desirable names/looks, mixed in with some deep cuts and fan service type items.

It has to be that Attitude Era entrance they showed off before.
The question is, which wrestler to add to the set? 🤔

I'd love some Headbangers figures with it or some other FTITL tag team, but who knows if it's possible. Maybe an Attitude era Vince or Commissioner Slaughter too.

Mattel is adding the talent fee onto the price of the crowd fund….So Mattel isn’t paying extra out of pocket. Jeff Jarrett is getting extra money for doing nothing and isn’t beholden to a legends deal. All parties win.

WWE as the licenser dictate who they will allow to have figures made and in most cases what looks they will sign off on. If they wanted a Jarrett figure out there with their logo on it, in a look that he wore on their product, they would get him under a Legends deal. It’s just part of the contract. Mattel isn’t going to go against the contract just to add someone new to the line. Regardless of how it’s funded.
