I’m dying to know what some people expected out of the Monday Night Wars line… obscure gimmicks that might sell 5 figures This line (and the Ruthless Aggression line) was clearly created to appease those collectors who constantly ask “When are we getting ______ in _______ attire?” or “Can we get new _______ with updated FX and articulation?” People have been asking for even specific looks, new Harlem Heat, new Nation Rock, etc. So they made them, but different enough to hopefully get sales from collectors who have the originals.

Both figures are incredible! Some small nitpicks on the Eddie is that I would have preferred white wrist tape, but it seems he did wear black on occasion. He’s also still too tanned. But those heads are amazing. As someone else said, how can these be by the same company that produced those Bret Hart heads?

Why does RVD have Shawn Stasiak’s face?

I’m dying to know what some people expected out of the Monday Night Wars line… Something exciting maybe? The Ruthless Agression line gave us our first Eric Bischoff, Our first Torrie Wilson, A Throwback Shelton we have never gotten before. The First RVD in like 8 years, the First JBL in like 10 years with a massive upgraded head sculp. A throwback MVP and Miz. It wasn't anything amazing but at least some things we've never seen before So far the MNW line has given us the 50th Undertaker Elite, Our 40th Rey Mysterio Elite, Hall and Nash in Street Clothes, A Straight up Repaint of Harlem Heat. A Straight up Re-Release of The Rock, Austin in Street clothes for like the 7th time, A DX Triple H which they have already made 5 of, The 25th Hulk Hogan elite in probably the least exciting attire of his career, An Ultimate Bret Hart that somehow gives us 3 even more terrible head scans, and Another Rob Van Dam Elite that has the worst head scan of any RVD made yet Really, the only things worth getting excited about are the build-a-figures like The Disciple or Teddy Long but I'm going to have to buy 8 figures that I really don't want just to build those 2 figures I do like the Ultimates in this line though (Not including Bret). Eddie is a cool figure that is at least different enough from past figures where he has more of a unique WCW look. The WCW Piper is awesome and even though that Mankind is nothing new, it's at least really well done. But the main elite line of this series is incredibly underwhelming. The only figures from the main line that got me excited in any way were Fake Diesel and maskless Rey and now Rey can't even be made.

First nWo appearance of Hulk Hogan, debut Scott Hall, Outsiders Kevin Nash, debut Lex Luger, WWE debut/tryout/ECW invasion RVD.
Even a Fake Diesel for the Wrestlecrap collectors.
All figures we’ve never seen. It’s also in Series 3. Still plenty of time to get a couple FTITL figures in.

Almost makes the dread of trying to find a Walmart Exclusive on shelves go away.

I ain’t necessarily complaining but for me personally my collection is so big right now that I don’t have room for one off attires. Nash debut woulda been an instant buy 5-10 years ago. Now it’s a pass. Same with Nitro after BATB Hogan. Luger on Nitro debut was a cool moment but don’t need in fig form. Debut Hall I woulda found room for if the fig shown at SDCC is what we got but it isn’t so it’s a pass.

I’m dying to know what some people expected out of the Monday Night Wars line… A bunch of people that aren't signed and will never be because they would rot on pegs in any line that actually hit shelves. Honestly the only thing I personally hope for is more New Gen guys like fake Diesel and for chaos sake Meng (if he signs like rumored) with WCW Hardcore title and X-Factor X-Pac with Light Heavyweight title.

Holy crap. This looks incredible in this images. Something about Mick here just isn't doing it for me. I think - and I know I'm in the overall minority here - it's another example of that fact that sift goods rarely really work at this scale outside of tee shirts.

You seem to be more selective with what you “need” and purchase. Mattel is putting out product they think people will buy. Mostly directed towards collectors who want/“need” to complete everything possible. Again, the collectors in those AFA questions. Asking for re-paints, obscure gimmicks, event specific looks. This line can help them knock out a good amount of looks without taking spots away from their other lines… or leaving another option for Legends with different looks. For a while it was just Legends and 1-2 spots in an Elite line. So much lineage to fit in those options wasn’t enough for the demand. So now we have more options. Legends, Greatest Hits, Ruthless Aggression (didn’t go long enough, in my opinion)/Monday Night Wars, the new From The Vault RSC Exclusives.

All of those figures you mentioned are only going to be purchased by Hogan, Hall Nash and Luger Superfans. Casual fans historically never buy figures of guys in street gear, especially street gear from one random moment in their careers. I'd be shocked if those sold well at all. Those are just as much of a niche want as someone wanting a rare FTITL character. How many series are they planning for this? I worry that if the first 3 don't sell well, they aren't going to keep it going and I have a feeling these won't sell very well, except maybe the Ultimates. Although honestly Ultimates in general tend to warm the shelves wherever I go
