Been thinking about the production numbers on these types of releases. My guess is production is more then an SDCC exclusive, but less then say a RSC exclusive. I completely agree it sucks that collectors miss out on these, but I’d suggest the last thing Mattel wants is a large inventory of figures to store… that costs money and creates supply chain and production issues. Mattel has to find the balance, sell through quickly, reasonably meet demand and create excitement for future releases.
Hopefully these are like the retros, easy enough to get if you’re aware of timing.

Makes a whole lot of sense to do a Piper and Orndorff set to go with Hulk and T Ultimates. I’d buy something like Heenan and Andre from Mania V. Obviously Harley. Or guys we don’t have yet like Haku, Captain Lou, Ventura, etc., but I’m not expecting that. If we get LJN Steamboat before Chi Town Rumble, I’m going to be pissed. All good suggestions, but Piper and Orndorff would be amazing.

Not sure expecting collectors to pre-order their figures with 9-12 month (and let’s face it, it’s likely 12 months) delivery timeframes is sustainable for all online items. That would be the concern.

In case anyone missed this in the AFA Q&A thread: Will the Coliseum Collection pre-order date be revealed in advance? Yes, of course. Hopefully it lasts a while like the Retros set did.

LOL no way are we getting most of the names mentioned in this thread. The safe bets are: Orton Sheik Volkoff JYD Savage Okerlund Piper Andre Etc A Hart Foundation would be awesome though and well within expectations. Maybe a Hart Foundation with Chases. The Chase being their Blue and Black Attires.

Where are we going to be able to purchase these from?
I hope they will be made easy for everyone world wide.

I loved LJNs when I was a kid, and I REALLY love this idea now. Especially if it ends up getting a King Harley Race in my hands!!

Would be great to finally get Bam Bam in his 87-88 attire, which I feel is his most iconic. He’d be really lacking in accessories though. I guess pair him with DiBiase. Cloth suit over wrestling attire, money, belt, etc.

Why does this line exist, I do wonder?
I mean, surely anything that fits in this line, would not be out of place in the general Legends line? Don't get me wrong, not complaining as I like that international collectors actually stand a chance of getting these, but it seems mattel are making lines, kinda for the sake of it?

Nostalgia for one. People really loved the Slaughter packaging. Also people have been begging for more ultimates and this is a way to get more out. And it’s a way to get some less popular guys who normally wouldn’t get an ultimate by packing them with a big star.

It’s a way to take advantage of Mattel Creations, make niche wrestlers as Ultimates that would never see the light of day at retail, and appeal to niche LJN collectors on top of that.

I think they made the Slaughters and really loved how the packing turned out and wanted to take advantage of it while also giving another line to get more Ultimate figures out. So it’s definitely win/win in the eyes of most.

Simple fix make whatever small run they make for an SDCC then keep the orders open a week as well. Instead of missing out you just go to order run 2. I’d have been fine waiting for shipment two on Zeus.

Dont even call it the special SDCC release. give us the same thing, take away something so it is not the same for collectors (I am a collector) and sell it to all of us who want to buy it. that simple. Put it in another card and half of us will be happy
