For very many years, I enjoyed the "Fig Hunt in The Wild" for wrestling figures. Every week, I would search Toys R Us, Walmart, Target, etc. for the majority of my figure needs. I did shop Ringside for items that I could not locate at stores. Now, with retail prices so high these days, my trips to the store have been mostly eliminated. Now, the majority of my figure purchasing has been waiting for Ringside sales (especially the Black Friday/Cyber Monday) & Ebay. I'd rather not buy figures on Ringside right away, when they are released because those prices are too high for my liking. Gotta get a deal all day long. Has the high retail prices changed the way that you shop for your figures? What is your primary method of buying figures?

I’ve cut back my figure buying by about 95% lately, and its not just because of the high price of figures, its the high price of everything else. Just as an example, not long ago, if I went to the store with $100 and my groceries cost $50 and an elite cost $15, hey I can get both no problem. Now the same groceries cost $95 and the elite costs $22, no figures today. 🤷🏼♂️

Its all about Patience & avoiding FOMO...Too many people are over paying for things thinking they are going to miss out or have to have it first. Just be patience and you can get a lot of things for less than retail.

I usually wait to find stuff at target or when Amazon gets the newest stuff.

It's Harley Race syndrome. People think if they pass, they'll never see it again.

Not with wrestling figures or McFarlane DC figures their prices haven’t really gotten any higher. But the way Hasbro has raised their prices I am getting much more selective on what ML, SW & GI Joes I purchase now.

Part of it is the price...a lot of it is just what they're releasing from the MCU standpoint

It's Harley Race syndrome. People think if they pass, they'll never see it again. Yup, I passed on two opportunities to get an early Strongbow, thinking he’d be the next Mae Young in retail. FML.

To be fair, if he had the release that Mae had (meaning Walmart put stock out), he would have been a shelf warmer too.

Between WWE Mattel and AEW, outside of store exclusives, I am now in the Ringside Sales Camp.
Every regular release will go on sale and on GOOD sale on RSC eventually. Everyone was worried about getting Elite Adam Cole with chase camo trunks. That thing is on RSC now for retail price.
This goes double for AEW figures, especially moving forward.
Oh, and in Chicago, WWE Ultimate Editions are $38.99 regular price at Target. I almost had a heart attack at Target. Bought Roman Reigns for $23 off Amazon on sale. Regular release Marvel Legends are $29.99 at my local Target. Retail stores aren't getting my money.

TBH: Online stores somewhat ruined "the hunt" long before the current price hikes. Why should I get out when I can just order it off of Amazon for around the same price as Target and Walmart? The biggest problem now is hoping you can find enough to meet minimum free shipping.

I do a lot of figure hunting videos, so I still hit the brick & mortar stores. However, I only buy wrestling figures when I see a rare/variant figure or a clearance sale. I've watched figure prices explode in several areas, so it's made impulse buys for figure reviews or trade bait much more difficult.

I don’t buy nearly as much as I use too mainly because we get very few older wrestlers that I’m into. I buy every legends figure but now I wait until they’re $5.99-$9.99 at Target.
Mattel also releases way to many figures, exclusives and other items. It’s impossible for someone to collect everything.

I usually buy online or a second hand store. Prices are what they are sometimes and if I want the figure bad enough I just buy it. Hunt still works out so far.

I saw the new UE Jeff Hardy at Target tonight for $39 but got one last week on Amazon for $24. I've had a lot less interest in going to stores lately. Either they have nothing on the shelves, or they have stuff at prices above what I'd pay at RSC or Amazon. Even with some of the store exclusives I've been able to find them online for close to retail price and save the time and gas. The only exceptions are when I find stuff on sale/clearance. I miss the days of figure hunting in stores, but back then the figures and the gas were both a lot cheaper!

The last time I bought a figure in stores was pre covid probably elite 72. Now I just cherry pick and pre order what I want online through various sites wherever is cheaper.
