I was telling my buddy at the toy shop today that I think the new figures like Harley Race, nWo Macho and all pink Bret Hart are fantastic. It gives newer collectors another chance without breaking the bank. He agreed but also told me he didn't think the older figures would crash too much. He claimed that the ringside exclusive nWo Macho from years ago was still selling for over 150 while the current ultimate edition has been in retail for a good while and the all pink Bret was selling for close to 300 with that ultimate edition being announced months ago and close to being at retail. He said some collectors especially MOC people would probably want both. What do you guys think?? Also I've had good offers for my legends 1 Road Warriors for awhile now and I'm wondering if I should sell those now because I feel like The Road Warriors will be back sooner or later. Think I should I sell??

Thank you theman. I also am curious about this. Recently I’ve been tempted to open and actually opening older moc elites I have held for years because of rereleases and wonder if there’s much value left to sell vs opening. My latest would be Mankind. I have the e17 mankind moc and I’m thinking of opening. What should I do?

At the end of the day, I think it depends on the collector... what they collect, how they collect, why they collect. If you're just after a certain figure for your loose collection, then the rereleased version is great. If you want to have the original figure though - especially MIB - then having it rereleased won't really make any difference (ie. you'd want the original figure, regardless). And figures like the RSC all-pink Bret and especially the black & white Macho are different enough that a lot of collectors/completists might still want them... even the new Harley (like the other Greatest Hits figures) will have the new elbow articulation and True FX, so will be easy to tell apart from the original.

I think MOC items will hold prices but loose figs will loose it's value. Greatest hits line is awesome and updating prior elites to ultimates is an amazing step.

Depends. I don't see why the NWO Macho would lose value as it's a different attire entirely to the new Ultimate.

If you have the original figures MOC and you are a serious collector, I would keep them. Unlike the straight re-release of the ultimate hbk and brock, these are updated and not them same.

Collectors who missed out on Harley Race when people who own Harley Race are complaining about them rereleasing Harley because it will devalue the original

The people that get worked up over the “rarity” and “value” of their toys is hilarious. Idgaf what you have and what it’s worth or how you feel about it.
Unless it’s a crowdfund, it’s all fair game imo. Rerelease all the sought after stuff. Give everyone a chance to get something in their collection.
Take your feelings.. turn them sum bitches sideways…

If you already have the figure and love it I do not see how a re-release of it affects your enjoyment of it at all. If anything, if you have a rare figure that you think is awesome wouldn't you be happy others can get it and see why you hold it in such high regard?

As someone who collects figures because I like them and not as an investment, I welcome releases of older hard to find figures.

I want a Fit Finlay release. I have the Elite but want another. It's a great option to use to slap the Jazwares Owen head on (skin tone almost matches) then customize to the Owen colors. But I don't want to pay over $40 on eBay for one.

As someone who has all the older figures...I say...Bring it on. I have Harley Race and I was cheering when they showed a new one. HOPEFULLY we get NWA Champion Harley and Manager Harley. Hell, I'll even get new King Harley with the updates.

Toys aren’t an investment when the company (Mattel) is still producing them and can rerelease anything. That’s not Mattel’s fault that someone overpaid a couple years ago they can get for $22 next year.

I’m not a fan of rereleases and never have been. I don’t collect for value because I never sell or anything like that but I like having hard to find stuff and having stuff that maybe some people missed out on. I have even missed out on some stuff myself that’s worth a lot more on the secondary market. I hate that I don’t have stuff or have to pay high prices but it’s part of being a collector. What’s the point of buying originals if stuff is just going to keep getting released? I also don’t love repaints over and over either though
