To whom it may concern … Honestly I’m about at the end of my chain with collecting … I just visited RSC & realized the price jump, yet again, on these figures … Elite 101 are over $30 now & the chase Mr. America is $45 plus another $10 to ship it … Come on now, seriously?? …These figures are nice but the truth is, they are NOT worth these ridiculous, idiotic prices … I’m sick of having to pay places like that (or the scalpers on eBay) these exploited, price gouged amounts that they call “justified” but it’s either do that or don’t get them at all because you sure as hell can’t ever find them in stores for a decent & reasonable price anymore (at least not in my area) but I’m pretty positive it’s a well thought out marketing strategy to box people in so that we will continue to pay their ignorant prices online … And before anyone says “get a better job” I’m very well off at mine thank you & I have sense with my money also … Enough said

If you can find something more fulfilling to do with your money, do it. Ive sold my collection multiple times over the years because they didnt bring me the same joy they once had. Every time Ive come back to the hobby there are more characters and greater execution (TrueFX basically made my previous collections irrelevant anyway, I dont even want those figures again).

I legit thought this was going to be requests for a F.U.N.B. Hogan and the other older guys that battled the New Blood! In 2001 WCW

You just have to wait a couple of months after they hit, which is also usually around the time they hit retail. RSC is a business just like Mattel. Supply and demand sets pricing so while I don't like the $45 chases, the Andre and Mr. America are both backordered. They're selling at that price. Once demand goes down, their prices will too. My new goal starting a little over a year ago was to just preorder one set a year that I really like (elite 89 last yr, elite 100 this year) and then wait for sales or retail on everything else. Sure, there are a few exceptions throughout the year, but I don't buy a full series at preorder prices. With inflation, it wouldn't surprise me though if we see prices go up again. If it costs Mattel more to make, they are going to pass those costs off to the retailers who will pass them off to us.

As said above, prices are a supply and demand at first. RSC prices have fluctuated over the years but preorders, say 10+ years ago, we’re in the $29.99-$37.99 range
Also, it seems RSC gets TONS of stock which is why we see most figures reduced to retail, or slightly less or more. Also stated above.
There is plenty of people that like to be “first” or at least feel like they got the stuff first. And they’ll pay those prices to get the figures and be done with it and ready for the next set.
In my experience, if there’s a figure I think might be harder for me to find at retail or if I just don’t wanna deal with looking for it, I’ll go ahead and spend the extra $10. But more of than not I’ll just wait.
Example: I learned years ago to not wait too long for RSC exclusives. So I preordered 3 of the Summerslam Taker. I could’ve gotten 12 of them for the same price as 3 had I waited. But… I didn’t want to risk it. It’s just apart of the game.
Conclusion, if it’s something I want but won’t be upset if I miss out, I will wait to get it as cheap as possible. If it’s something I know I want in my collection, I’ll go ahead and get it. But I do my best to utilize free shipping with RSC as their shipping is absolutely ridiculous.

Well I got my figs @ 10 to 15 dollars this sale season, so if you have patience you don't have to worry. These figs are not worth 30 dollars so I control my nerves. I got everything at sales for very cheap.

Just be patient. You can get every figure that comes out, even Ultimates for under $20.

Your point is valid. Retail has become sooo unreliable. My life situation has changed over the last two years and I no longer have the disposable income that I used to have.... or the space.... so I've had to become real selective with what I order/buy. I can no longer afford to buy everything that I want; and often, finding what I want at retail is damn near impossible.
I'm glad we have Ringside - they are reliable and you are pretty much guaranteed to get the figures that you really want/need. But I can't afford to buy everything I want from Ringside. So again, I have to be selective.
I'm currently on the fence about Stunning Steve Austin. I really want the figure, and I fell out of my seat when I saw it up for $29.99 + shipping. And I have no confidence that I'll ever see this at any retail store.... so I'm biding my time? Maybe it'll appear on Amazon or something.
I said to a buddy the other day, I really miss the days of walking to KB Toys and digging through bin after bin of clearance JAKKS Classic Superstars..... always walking out with some amazing finds & treasures at affordable prices. Those days are over!

If it’s not worth it, don’t buy it. It’s really that simple.
It’s nothing new and has explained a billion times of why it is the way it is. It’s not going to change and honestly, over time, it will get worse.

Everyone doesn’t know this, but RSC’s first wave price is for the shipping cost to get them first. They literally fly them overnight from the manufacturer overseas. The increase is so those that want them first can pay the extra to have them a couple (or few) months ahead of retail. It’s what sets RSC apart from about 90% of other online retailers that receive their first wave of new figures after the container vessel is offloaded at the nearest port, sorted and driven over to them or their distribution centers.
That said, yes, with inflation this hobby has become painful for many of us, even at retail prices. Taking a chance with sales is one way to go, but that also depends on what you want compared to what everyone else wants and how quickly it might sell out.

Outside of new members here and people who aren’t on this forum, that’s all very well no information. No secret at all as to why Ringside logistically sell their figures/pre-orders at the price point they do. Everything is getting more expensive. Especially collectibles. It’s all just a matter of asking yourself “Can I realistically afford this?”

I'm fortunate to live below my means, but with the price hikes over the last few years I've dropped collecting quite a few lines. To me the $25-30 price point didn't justify the happiness they brought me. And with Mattel and Jazwares both hitting a lot of remakes, I'm starting to think about scaling back on wrestling purchases. Do I really want to spend $25 on my 15th Warrior or HBK figure?

I learnt the hard way around paying over the odds for figured I thought I'd never get last year. $50 for Piper They Live, $60 for Zodiac, $50 for Goon all with the scaremongering that they would be hard to find.
Fast forward a few months and I could have had all three for $60 or less.
So for a lot of stuff I wanted I learnt, made a list and then bought $25 elites and AEW for $9 each in the Ringside sale.

Do I really want to spend $25 on my 15th Warrior or HBK figure? Oh, well absolutely. What’s to gain out of a collection? Most collect for decoration. To display and possibly a conversation piece. Me, personally… I’m just waiting on the extra (EXTRA) funds to pull the trigger on some Detolfs. If those are even my best option for how I want to display. I collect for memories of a certain time period in wrestling. It’s my priority collection. With Lightning Collection being my back-up. Never got into Pop Vinyl, tried MCU Marvel Legends but I started way too late on that. So the priority goes back to Mattel WWE. But like you said, you have to just ask yourself “Is this worth it for me?” Can’t go blaming companies for increasing prices when everything has gone up. You gonna ask if eating is “worth it” at the grocery store? Haha

I think Mattel has figured out that they can only raise prices so much. Did anyone really think that Hogan & Funk would still be available on Mattel Creations 2 months later? After tax and shipping you’re paying over $40 for a figure that should be $30-$32.
Wrestling figures aren’t gas or food.

I used to be super into collecting and couldn’t miss stuff now I don’t even care. I buy here and there. I still enjoy looking to see what is coming out and seeing product but it’s hard to buy. I don’t enjoy a lot of repaints and stuff like that so I just buy what I like. If you don’t enjoy it, take a break. Most figures can be had on secondary cheap. Just have to look and be patient.

The prices of everything are going up. People are oddly acting like they haven’t lived through this before. I work in pizza and at least once a day I have to listen to someone rant about our prices going up in the last couple of years.
I know people get butthurt over being told these are “just toys.” Well they are. If something is outside your price range, probably best to not buy it. Figures are wants, not needs. Or have patience and wait for sales. I’ve seen people on here act like they have to choose between buying a figure online or eating for the day. The hilarious and ridiculous.
