Outside niche collectors there’s not the market for ecw legends - if there was business would be done
People can talk about how some of their wrestlers extra curricular activities may put wwe off but they’ve shown time snd time again if money is to be made they’ll do business - unless the outcry is too much
Ecw wasn’t a good product without wrestlers who passed through going from wcw to wwf (austin) or a glorified training centre / somewhere for wrestlers coming back from injury to get the rust off or work on a new gimmick (Al snow etc)
People talk about the big 3 during the wars era but wwe was bankrolling ecw for a period and had a working relationship which is the only reason it lasted as long as it did
Watch back the product now and it’s not good, hasn’t stood the test of time and the only wrestlers people want (other than a very niche collector audience) hsve more iconic looks in wwf/e (eddie, Rey, austin etc).
People have rose tinted glasses looking back or were not watching and have only heard about the ‘experience’ of the ecw arena. I get the ecw dvd did big business and they had the couple PPVs but that sheik was nostalgia and rose tinted glasses looking back at the past.

And it gets way worse than Boogeyman and The Goon.

At this point I’d be happy with just Raven for my WCW roster.

Taz is a big want of mine.
Ditto with Public Enemy & Dudleys but I'd prefer them in WWF attires.

I will fully admit I didn't see any ECW myself until after it was gone, but had read about them in the early days of these here inter webs. However, the names I think of are Raven, Dreamer, Sandman, Taz, Sabu, Funk, Shane Douglas, The Dudleys, The Gangstas, and the bWo. I had written this in another thread a few months back, but I don't understand why WWE doesn't just put almost any and all legends under some sort of Legends deal. Most of these guys seem to be in a spot where even a low-ball $ amount for a 2 year contract would make it worth the deal for WWE. Sign all these guys to a two-year contract, enough time for Mattel to get out one or two figures per wrestler, along with a shirt per wrestler, and I can't imagine that it would not help the WWE financially. Admittedly, I am looking at it with an eye towards getting figures, but I would guess it would be worth it.

It will never happen, but I'd love a Dawn Marie. The Al Wilson storyline was the most ridiculous, hilarious, out of control thing I have ever seen on television and I have a great affection for it.
I'd take her in a two pack with Lance Storm or a three pack with Justin Credible, but I'd prefer Al and Torrie.

Not sure about the dead comment? New Jack, Balls and Axl. Um, who else? Every wrestler besides Kronus is alive from their first PPV. Bam Bam Bigelow, Mike Awesome, New Jack, Chris Candido, Balls Mahoney, Axl Rotten, Johnny Grunge, Rocco Rock, Woman, Kronus, Pitbull #2, Tracey Smothers, Hack Meyers, Terry Gordy, Dr Death, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Brian Pillman, Big Dick Dudley, Eddie Gilbert, Louie Spicolli, Doug Furnas, Nicole Bass, Jimmy Del Rey, Hayabusa, Bobby Duncam Jr, Mass Transit Ok. You literally named every guy that stepped foot in an ECW ring for a match. Might as well have tossed Scott Hall in there. The OP said originals. Arguably some of those guys are “originals” but certainly not the majority that folks are looking for in figure form.

Count me in the "niche" group that would love ECW figs then. They production and quality may have been low, but they had great story telling and lots of big names gitting repackaged, or soon to be big names come through. Plus I want to add to my shelf.

Most were with the company for years, and more than half of them won championships while there. Just say you only know ECW from the McMahon produced documentaries and keep scrolling, ya wiener.

A WWE-centric view of ECW will have people thinking Paul E.’s ‘yes-men’ were the main players. Not entirely the case.

Most of them are just too niche and/or problematic to bother giving legends deals to. ECW was, despite being bankrolled by WWE, kind of like an outlaw club. A lot of the roster had trouble with drugs and the law and just never became stars. There are definitely some that would be worthwhile as toys - Raven, Sandman, Sabu - but I don’t think there’s ever going to be much money in dolls of Nunzio, Super Crazy, Shane Douglas, Francine, Justin Credible, Tazz etc.
And for the ones who did become big league stars, like the Dudleys and RVD, there are more iconic versions of them in their WWE looks that would be more profitable.

Honestly jakks did us good, Mattel has really dropped the ball on alot of things. Idk y they can't sign ppl like jakks use too, we always got new stuff from them no matter what the figure was. Hell at least WWE should do new gen and attitude era but they won't even touch that much either. They just keep giving us repeat after repeat and think it's "okay" smh do better mattel
