I just finished watching "350 Day" documentary about Pro Wrestling. One of the interesting parts about it were the wrestlers explaining how they had to develop their character even if it was a different ethnicity or culture.
My point, is with a documentary like this, maybe Mattel can understand why it would be ok to release a Cheif Jay Strongbow, just like other wrestlers and their gimmicks.

I’ve got no dog in the fight but I find it interesting that the figure was A okay for the year or so period of planning & development. So take that for what it’s worth.
They made a safe call and pulled it. We should all understand why whether we agree or not

I might be in the minority (but I'm not sure that I am) - I've been watching wrestling since the late 80's..... and I don't even remember Chief Jay Strongbow. Why do we need this figure so bad?

Not being a jerk, it's a legit question....
No clue. Some want it to fill in the gap in their roster. I think some people want it because it wasn't released. Had this been released, it would of been a pegwarmer. I understand both sides of the coin, even though I don't want this figure myself.

With the exception of one person who provided a reasonable reason it’s cos people like to bitch and moan and want what they can’t have.
Guarantee it’d peg warm if it come out since there’s 1 other figure to go with him from a similar era
Chief Jay is a figure I would have liked to get, top 10 want No, 20 No, maybe top 30 on my list but I could live without.. The odd part is that his figure ever got off the starting line and the frustrating part is that it was at the finish line when pulled.

Strongbow wrestled in to the early 80s, and he's a significant figure in wrestling history, and WWF/WWE history, so I can see why people want a Mattel figure of him, but he wouldn't be a big seller- he's the kind of figure that should be a limited exclusive, maybe as part of a multipack. When you go back to people who had their heydays before the mid-1970s, there just aren't that many stars who would sell well enough for there to be mainstream action figures of them. I know that's not why the figure was canceled, but, no disrespect to Chief Jay, it's one many of us would probably have picked up for under-$10.00 on sale at Ringside, so it's not the worst thing for retailers that it was canceled. May and indy company can get the license to make a figure of him if Mattel isn't, eventually, liek that upcoming Lou Thesz figure (which looks very nice).

People are upset because they're being told they can't buy something.
I guarantee that most of the people complaining have never seen a CJS match.

I started watching wrestling the tail end of '83, which was kind of his last year of relevance as a wrestler. So I'd probably would've ended up getting him eventually, if he hadnt gotten recalled. But, as far as lesser known guys from that specific time period, I'd be far, far more excited for an Ivan Putski, Masked Superstar, Atlas, etc.
