Adding Hogan in might not "move the needle" but it makes the price tag a lot easier to swallow knowing you're getting at least 2 figures....especially since it was already budgeted into the 5k cost. This:) This and that.

I can see what stage of grief this thread is in The longer this thread goes on the more I think of this comment lol. I'd say we are firmly in the (literal) bargaining phase with a few still in the anger phase.

Wonder if people cancelled Saturday after Hogan was off the table and it's just now catching up because of the holiday.

Wonder if people cancelled Saturday after Hogan was off the table and it's just now catching up because of the holiday. That's likely the case as I'm sure there is processing time involved when something is canceled. I doubt numbers are in real time, at least in regards to cancelations.

Probably, today may actually be a day where it ends up with less backers than it started. I didn't pay too close attention to the ghost rider crowdfund, how is this going compared to that?

Lol we’ve got almost a month left We'd need 100 backers a day to make it to 5k in a month. It's currently getting 10ish a day and today may even be in the negatives.

That discourse last night completely blew me away - not even just the tone people took with him, but the wild insinuation that because someone has worked in front facing/customer service related capacities, they were somehow qualified to assess his job performance and comment on how they could/would do it better. I think people forget or have a poor perception of the fact that Steve's account here predates his employment with Mattel - he was a fan and a collector before he ever was ever "Steve from Mattel". There's a lot of talk being talked here, but very few, if any of us here can say we've walked the walk quite like that. The fact he was a fan on here before getting that job should tell you that we are MORE than capable of coming up with ideas and things. All I did was echo what was said on here. And yes I was my own boss for years doing video and audio transfers, some of them for some quite known people. So I do know a thing or two about listening to your customers. What we DON’T NEED is a bunch of toxic ass people to come on here and bully us for sharing our voice on what we need to make this better. This kind of crap is why I don’t do message boards. You have a bunch of keyboard warriors who done nothing with their lives who rather than engaging in meaningful discourse to get something done, choose to be bungholes to people instead. So stop trying to be big man on campus, put your dick away as no one asked to see it, and if you aren’t going to help us try and come up with ways to save this thing, kindly off. Your replies are the ones full of hostility and vulgarity, but I'm the toxic one. Steve being a member here before landing the Mattel gig is probably a fraction of a fraction of the story, at best. It's hardly the precedent - "it happened to him so it could happen to any of us as long as we...I don't know...post hard enough and get all heated when people try and rationalize the conversation some"? Maybe that's a new thread idea: "Mattel WF Job Fair 2023!"

I collect ML figures very rarely and haven't been paying attention to that crowdfund either so I'm not in a position to offer any sort of opinion on it.

You waltzed in rude as hell to Steve and presented the dumbest solutions we've seen so far and now you're crying because people called you out on them? You worked in customer service and somehow you think that makes you qualified to know what decisions Steve and Mattel should make? Christ all mighty lmao

The ways to save this might not be feasible. Maybe if they could get a segment on Raw and Smackdown having wrestlers pimp this thing. As Gorilla Monsoon would say…”Highly unlikely”. And the other way would be to switch around the tiers, maybe have Scott Steiner as the base offering or add him to the base offering with Rey, but I don’t think they are willing to do that.

What we don't need are people who don't fully grasp the economics of the situation offering their uneducated opinions. Steve doesn't need to come here to break down the nuts and bolts of why this project was offered the way it was, but he's doing so on his own personal time I'm sure and out of love for wanting to see this project succeed. Offering something you're passionate about is totally fine, but simply echoing what others here have said doesn't make those opinions true. If you truly cared about this project being funded and want to offer an informed suggestion to Steve and the community, maybe do a bit of research first instead of regurgitating the same childish, narrow-minded statements that some members here have ignorantly thrown out. Because that's all this is if you don't bother to read what Steve has shared, or if you don't bother to learn how this all works -- it's ignorance.

Probably, today may actually be a day where it ends up with less backers than it started. I didn't pay too close attention to the ghost rider crowdfund, how is this going compared to that? I didn't follow it in real time, but it made it about 56% of the way there (5,060 backers out of 9,000 needed). By comparison, this one currently sits at about 40% of the total backers Ghost Rider got. That's another one where I feel like the stretch goals (Pryor, Hellstrom, and Mephisto) were all more appealing than the baseline offering.

It's not that they're not willing to offer Steiner in the base goal, it's because they can't. These stretch goals aren't some arbitrary number they pulled out of their a*ses, they're factored into how many units they'd need to sell in order to make enough of a profit to justify the new tooling necessary for the figures. These suggestions of moving figures around like they pieces on a board game simply aren't feasible yet they keep getting thrown around and I think that's what is frustrating people the most

The increments are evenly spread between each figure (2k backers, and $800k in funding), but I'm not presumptuous enough to assume that because I once ran the HI department for a failed American retailer, that means that each figure only costs $800k in production costs and that their position in the campaign is fluid and irrelevant.
