Blows my mind that there are people in here lamenting the state of this crowdfund while dismissing the the problems of an extremely large group of potential backers.

2,094 Backers with 17 days to go! So far, Mattel has $837,600.00 for this project. I am going to love it - and I mean love it ... when Mattel pivots again and with a week left, says ... "Thanks to all of the believers of this project. It's a project that we truly believe in. Therefore, we have decided to honor those believers and anyone within the final week who chooses to get it either way."
Several things will happen that I would love to see.
1. For those who want the project and believe in it with their money down, get this very cool WCW entrance stage along with the figures. 2. The exclusivity of it, KNOWING it is going to happen either way, will make so many others jump in. In my mind, it would be at least 5,000 but probably more. 3. It will prove that Mattel can be creative and pivot yet again to help those who want it can get it. 4. It also teaches future campaigns that if they want it, they shouldn't wait to see what other people do ... be a leader and do it. 5. I want to watch the people who have no interest in this set - who wasted an ungodly amount of time and energy vomiting their negativity on something they didn't want ... to know now it's going to happen in spite of them. WOW! Will that be fun!

Not sure if you’re serious but that is absolutely not happening. 5k isn’t an arbitrary number it is the minimum order quantity needed in order to make it viable to move into production at the price you’re currently paying. This isn’t even at 50% yet.

We'll get to acceptance soon enough, probably shortly after the campaign ends. Some of us are already there though.

I love the enthusiasm but I have to keep expectations in check. 5K units is not only the number needed for financial viability (tooling investment, development costs, cost to produce, etc); it’s the minimum order quality negotiated with the factory to get the rate that allows this to be $400. This is it. We have to hit at least 5K to bring this item to life.

This stuff ain't cheap! They're making a completely brand new set of tooling for a giant toy set. I have *no clue* how much it would take to tool something like this but I remember that about 2 years ago, a smaller toy company wanting to make an unlicensed cage that would fit like a Hell in a Cell over the Mattel scale ring, and had to back out of the idea because he was quoted something like $25,000 to tool the piece and produce a small handful of prototypes along the way. That cage is pretty much repeating plastic cage mesh with some edges and clips. If that story holds any merit, I can't imagine what tooling a set like this would entail with all of the pieces, electronics, all of the different materials used, and just the size of the set. Add on the development, marketing budget, cost to produce...and then the company needs to make a profit to reap the rewards of the work put into producing the item. $2 million really doesn't take you as far as you'd think.

You are probably gagging on the fact that you spent time creating a thread that you don't even support and laid out negatives from the beginning. Who has time for that? You then tried to talk people into following your thread over someone else's ... then mocking people throughout ... and this is probably the biggest thing that has happened in your life and the reality of knowing you only have a few days left for your thread to be relevant is making you gag. Man, I hope this thing gets made because then you will really be gagging. All in fun! I'm enjoying it. Who loves everybody? I do

I made it as clear and as vibrant as I could because I knew it would be the first introduction for some people. I've been supportive and critical since page 1. Just because I like a few things about it doesn't mean I can't point out the flaws. Just because I discuss the flaws doesn't mean that I don't think it looks great.

A little update on Scott Steiner’s development process from Design. If funded, final product WILL have some additional deco/logos in addition to the star. We’re looking at his late March 98 gear roughly that would give the figure an additional graphic in the star plus the text logos on front and back. No Superman logos of course. All pending licensor approval but that’s the latest plan.
