My unwillingness to part with $406.95 should not be the sole metric by which my interest in this product is measure. I know Matt Ryder still fancies himself the omnipotent high deity of wrestling figure collectors, but in spite of his self fancied gospel, I am still a wrestling figure collector, even if I'm not backing this project.

Even with my Doink bias, I think most can admit that despite their reservations about the gimmick the UE figure is absolutely perfect. It is THE definitive Doink that comes with all of the bells and whistles you could ask for. In my opinion, the biggest hurdle of the Nitro entrance is the price, but I think the popularity of the New Generation set is completely understated. Many people think that it only represents the dark days with Diesel on top as well as guys like The Goon and Aldo Montoya, but they completely forget or are unaware that the neon entryway debuted at WrestleMania 8 in early 1992. Guys like Hogan/Jake Roberts/Flair/Ultimate Warrior/Savage/Earthquake/Piper came through those lights. It almost acts as a bridge between the Golden Era of Hulkamania and the New Generation so if anything its appeal spans several years of WWF from 1992-1996. That leads to another big issue for me. Even though still limited, Mattel has at least been able to produce a decent amount of names from that era. From main eventers to lower talent like Mabel and The Berserker, you can build a solid display with what is available. The WCW lineup that represents their 1995-1998 peak is seriously lacking with Mattel. Very few if any midcarders have been made and, if you haven't been collecting for a few years, there are major omissions such as Sting/Jericho/Giant. There just isn't much depth. IDK. More depth than you may realize. WCW: Flair, Arn, Luger, Surfer Sting, Crow Sting, Macho, Team Madness Macho, Anvil, Bret, Goldberg, Regal, Eddie, Rey, Harlem Heat, Booker (TV champ), Shark, Kamala, DDP, Zbyszko, Giant, Malenko, Zodiac, Pillman, Nasty Boys, Bam Bam, Duggan, Sid, Warrior, Road Warriors nWo: Hogan, Hall, Nash, Syxx, Giant, Hennig, Luger, Sting, Macho, Rude I totally get your point and it's fair, but for me there are just not enough of the mid/lower tier guys from that 96/98 heyday who helped make WCW stand out as its own thing. Of course people such as the Nasty Boyz/Duggan/LOD/Neidhart/Kamala wrestled under the WCW banner, but I'm talking about people who more so resonate with the WCW brand like Raven/Juventud Guerrera/Psychosis/Disco Inferno/Buff Bagwell/Glacier/Mortis/Saturn/Chavo/Ultimo Dragon/Kidman/Scott Norton/La Parka/Fit Finlay/Alex Wright. Not huge names, but ones that undisputably resonate with the WCW brand. Of course, the fact that a lot of even bigger names are no longer available to Mattel adds an extra challenge for newer collectors looking to put together their own WCW display.

I've never seen anyone who is critical of this crowdfund tell anyone to go away or not discuss this, but I have seen another group of people say that...

With this, the Raw is War ring, Nitro ring, and the Monday Night War line launching next year I can see them using that as tool to get WWE to sign more talent from that time. I’d imagine the New Gen project is probably one of the factors of getting Bill Irwin signed and a Kama figure made.

Because if it were just the people who had backed it, there would be 5 of you just bitching why more people aren't backing it. If people aren't interested and not funding, why continue to invest time and energy into discussing something u have no interest in? Sorry this place isn't the echo chamber safe space you were so desperate to have. I backed the stage and want it to succeed, although admittedly I'm more than likely going to cancel, but I don't see why the hell people who aren't interested enough in backing it shouldn't be allowed to involve themselves in the discussion.

This is a solid point and might be a substantial reason for mattel to sweeten the deal by lowering the price (which they probably won’t do) or at least offering all the figures. A lot of those wcw guys are still around on the after market, but if you wanna fill out rosters mattel is gonna have to go deep dives. And who knows what license they have or can acquire. I was thinking the other day a sugar Shane helms figure would be cool since he has a legends contract. As it stands I’ve been in acquisition mode trying to round up all the nitro era figures I can lol.

3 backers a day at the moment.
It might be around 44% before the final day at this rate

Come on folks… When the crowdfund was first announced he commented on the announcement saying "If this doesn't get backed, we should all quit collecting and watching wrestling because we suck." People took offense to that, reading it as Cardona saying people who didn't want it or couldn't afford should feel pressured to buy it. He quickly clarified/backtracked that that wasn't what he meant, rather forcefully on social media and on the pod, but like most things people are clutching onto how they interpreted what he said the first time. FWIW, in the context of the conversation, what he was clearly referencing were people saying they were going to wait to back until the end/various levels were unlocked. Which FWIW I'm not saying Cardona was right or I agree with him, but he definitely didn't say what people online have been acting like he did.

I bet half the people on these FB groups bitching about the price are the ones trying to sell Target Bret for $60 plus shipping. saw this on FB and thought it was funny

I get a big kick out of the “helping collectors out” posts. You could help collectors out by leaving the extras on the pegs so they can get it for retail price.

Ditched that show years ago.
