I think their lack of leverage has been exhibited here with the 78% funded but why does it matter whether it’s a crowdfund or not? If Mattel is pulling out of the crowdfund pool entirely with WWE then it doesn't really matter. All I am saying is that if they do plan to release future projects like this, people will be even more hesitant to back it if the figures will just be released at a later date regardless. I understand, but this crowdfund failed without any idea of whether the figures may be released at a later date. I’m really asking: If we get the figures we want, what’s the difference whether it’s a crowdfund, made to order, regular release, etc.?

What’s even worse is they were gonna go to the effort to make a giant scale stage, but then use the incorrect scale ring with wrong ring posts and everything just to pimp out that Bischoff. WCW rings are 2 sq ft smaller and have weird posts.

WCW rings are 2 sq ft smaller and have weird posts. You have a point. I mean if a company is going to market these things to the hardcore collector and charge absolute top dollar for them, you can't turn around and tell those collectors things like "small details like ______ only appeal to a small section of collectors, so it's not really realistic to make." If we're going to be paying for premium products, we should expect premium quality right? In the case of this WCW ring, it's a bit tricky though because I'm sure at some point Mattel would want to sell ring conversion kits but because not enough of the New Gen rings are out there those kits can't be offered yet. So changing the WCW rings dimensions would certainly complicate the rollout of any conversion kit for fans. Not saying this is the main deterrent from Mattel making a truly accurate WCW ring, but as fans have been asking for ring conversion kit (and Steve and Co. have been listening =D), they kind of have to stick with the same formula for the ring in order for kits to ever become a thing.

I legit was going to pay the $400 for just the Rey before Steiner was added. I could have just bought the figure on secondary for a lot less had it got funded but wanted to help the stage get backed for those that wanted it too.

Look at it this way
Only roughly 2500-2750 people wanted this set. Maybe even less.
How does that make you feel?
Niche of the niche.

I mean, not taking into account those that couldn’t afford it or those international buyers that didn’t want to pay the extra or those that couldn’t justify spending that much right now. I personally think WCW was a 70% garbage post Hogan signing and I still wanted it. I don’t think niche is the problem.

You’re a true wrestling collector brother I respect that. I backed 5 stages to keep 3 and sell 2 for people who missed out. It’s pathetic we couldn’t get 5k behind this project people will make any excuse they can but reality is this one will be a regret of our community for years to come. Mattel did an amazing job with this stage unfortunately the audience they have isn’t.

And CLEARLY way more people WANTED it, but didn't order or couldn't order. Examples of these people and their reasons are numerous on this forum, and everywhere else online where this project has been discussed. To say only 2500-2750 people wanted it and maybe even less is flat out ridiculous and has literally been proven to be blatantly and vastly incorrect.

And I'll tell you what's pathetic - the figure offerings, charging $400 for a bit of plastic truss and some LED lights, charging International customers $200 more on top. It shouldn't be a regret of ours, it should be a regret of Mattel's.

It was cool at first, but quickly soured once they had like 50 members (and jobbers), every match ending in a DQ, and the belt always going back to Hogan once it seemed like they were going to go in a new direction. I much preferred early-mid 90s WCW (Dangerous alliance, Hollywood Blondes, Ron Simmons, Cactus Jack, Vader, Abdullah, etc.). With that being said, I backed it because the stage was awesome and was okay with basically spending $400 on just the stage. Warrior was the only figure that I really wanted and knew we weren't going to hit. I wanted Steiner too, but we are going to get multiple UEs in better attires I think.

Final thoughts on simple reasonable adjustments that coulda have made it successful:
1. Stage needed a 2 in 1 feature. Give it nWo Nitro parts to swap out.
2. Pump shoulda been the early bird. Also make him 2 in 1. Plain white singlet, bleached hair and Billy Graham style goatee, alternate dark hair and goatee head, swappable white left boot, tag belt.
3. Wait to reveal the first tier until it was close to funding and each tier thereafter when the previous one is approaching being met.
I think the most important thing is having a 2 in 1 component on the stage and figures. You needed to give people with the means a reason to buy more than one and that just wasn’t there. You had that with Macho and the ring skirts with New Gen. Other than alternate heads that wasn’t present there. And showing off all the tiers devalued the stage in many people’s eyes because they assumed none of those woulda been unlocked. Had they not known it woulda been easier to sell the value of base offering and the tiers as bonuses adding to the value once it was funded.
4. And less important as the 3 previously mentioned but still worth bringing up is DDP woulda been a better base offering than Rey. He was the People’s Champ of this era and being a first time UE with new heads woulda gotten people more excited than Rey.

Nah people bitched and moaned about more figs more ultimates please and Mattel gave us 5 potential ultimates with this crowdfund. And even added a second to the base cause everyone was complaining. Yeah all the LEDs, plastics, lights whatever costs money to produce this is a business they need to make a profit so I don’t see the problem with that at all. Thousands of fans who saw this stage years ago were all over it and when it came time to put your money where your mouth is they didn’t. That’s pathetic to me 100% I’ve stated many times on the thread that I feel for my international brothers and offered MANY times to back a few more for the TRUE fans that really wanted it and got no response. It will be a regret for us not Mattel they make millions off the WWE line they didn’t have to offer us the stage they offered it to us cause we said we wanted it…

Just because I'm not clear: Does anyone think that this Crowd-Fund might have been more successful if they had not charged excessive fees for International buyers? I feel like this hasn't really hasn't been talked about.... I am telling you the uk is a big wrestling fan base. So if they where not have been charged an extra arm and leg for shipping, this crowdfund would have succeeded. Even at the way too high $400 price, a lot of people over there and even a few businesses would have ordered this. At least enough to get over the hump, but mattel once again does not take the uk seriously.

Yeah I backed it partially to help those that wanted it to get it, but mostly because I wanted the Ultimates. Plenty had reasons to not back it and all of those are valid. It’s up to each individual person how they spend their money and they shouldn’t have to spend the money just for someone else to get what they want. Sucks it’s not getting made, but doesn’t mean those that didn’t back it aren’t “true wrestling fans.” Except fans of Lex Luger. They clearly hate wrestling.

I know Rick Steiner signed before Scott and they wanted to get an elite out right away so they went with his WCW singles run. I wonder if the E104 figure was announced as the 5K goal in Ultimate Edition form with the stage and then Scott Steiner as the 7K goal and the early bird goal if that would have made a difference. So if it was backed in a week, you got Scott and Rick at 5K and then they announced a new 7K goal. If not, then Scott would stay at 7K and they wouldn't announce the 9K goal until that hit (or maybe each week, they announced the next goal regardless of the backers). E104 Steiner could have been his numbers gear to match Bron. If Scott never signed, then you had a fake Father/Son team in matching gear.

This GI Joe vehicle and figure was $300 -- it had SO much less value than the Nitro stage. It had more than 25,000 backers. I think we need to accept the wrestling market is pretty niche, especially when people aren't bored during COVID. Had this been 2020, I'm convinced the stage would have easily funded. hasbropulse.com/products/g-i-joe-classified-series-cobra-h-i-s-s
