Yeah I think this is DOA and maybe unsalvageable. Mattel killed the international market and the winds gone out the sales. And there’s no ace up the sleeve Sorry what? No, I don't think so. I get you're upset about the unfair shipping costs but this thing is far from dead. Hopefully they find a way to make shipping more manageable for international buyers but at the rate this is going, I'm confident we're hitting the 5K on April 7th. Will we reach 11K? That's a tough call, but definitely, this thing will be made.

We’re day one and the backers have crawled to about 2 dozen an hour. There’s no macho man to come along and save it. Maybe it’ll limp to 5k but this won’t get near 11k without something major happening. I’ll absolutely attribute it to the Hogan rerelease being a terrible early bird and the momentum going out after 30 mins of being up because Mattel made it impossible for non Americans to buy.

Thinking about backing this. They don't charge your card until it's backed, correct? So basically I can back it without being charged right now?

We need to see the different heads and hands and accessories on these figures this weekend hopefully. That should push the needle a bit.

I think some people will stop complaining if they show the figures at Access with the accessories and they look good
The international costs I got nothing for, totally valid frustration there

I really hope they can help out all the international folks in some way. At the very least get the PayPal payment option up and going for them.

This needs to get at least to 1,500 before I wake up tomorrow to even have a chance at 5,000 by April 7. And even then it’s still gonna be tough Depending on when you wake up, Axxess reveals are tomorrow. So I imagine if more WCW is revealed, and this thing is on display, it jumps up quite a bit. You'd really hope it won't be physically on display. That's a double-edged sword. If people see it in person, they may think it looks cool, but the sheer size of it might put a lot of people off.

How else are you gonna make it appeal to people without them seeing the physical item? They already showed the stage last year anyway

Good point, I forgot about axxess Plus apparently we will get a little bit Friday and even something Sunday. It’s going to hit 5k for sure. If only Nitro debut Lex was the first figure, it would have been backed already...

As an international fan (Ireland) it seems to me that there is serious money to be made by someone out there in the US offering to buy this on behalf of the international fans and ship it out afterwards.
If you charged an "admin" fee of $20 (ie; charged international customers $420) and then worked out a bulk shipping cost with your local post office or whatever next year, and didn't charge customs/etc. in advance, you would assume that you'd get a few thousand international customers willing to back it via you?
You'd obviously need to have good logistical skills to get all the parcels shipped out as they arrive to you, and somewhere to store them (although you could literally re-ship them out as they arrive with you, same-day) but there must be a few thousand dollars to be made offering this service. You'd have 2-3 weeks of mayhem next year when all the WCW boxes start showing up at your door, but it would be well worth it.

I'd imagine tens of thousands of people are going to be in the WM Store this weekend. I don't think they generate thousands of new sales, but I don't think it's absurd to think that it moves the needle. A lot of these people are hardcore fans with discretionary income. We'll see how it plays out. But I think this is a really smart move by Mattel. And having Bill, Steve, and company at the event should only help.

Yeah but last year it was some random display that looked cool. Now you're looking at it through the lens of 'would I actually buy it'. I don't think many people here are appreciating just how fecking big this thing is. The sheer size alone will put tonnes of people off it, because they won't have anywhere to put it.
Having it on show digitally (ie; the advert for it repeating over and over with the QR code and such, and have figures or such on display) would be much more sensible, in my opinion. That way you get all the glamour of the TV ad without the realisation setting in that this thing needs a dining table to display it on.

They put a hold on your card and it goes through once the campaign is over. They also have a pay in 4 plan available as well.
