Here's my issues with this crowdfund,I backed last year's without hesitation (and I didn't grow up in the newgen era), I did however grow up during the Monday night wars so SHOULD be all over this: 1) Price, £509 / $633 is just too high for a stage. We Brits really do get scr*wed on pricing here. 2) LEDs - with 100 of these, how easy will these be to replace / what will be the longevity of this set? The newgen stage was much simpler and still had limited issues with the LEDs. I can see the nitro stage being a big issue unless QC is ramped up a notch. 3) Features - I realise the licensing issues, but c'mon the music was KEY in this era, this playset needed some entrance tunes at this pricetag. Remember titantron live / TTL? We're nigh-on 30 years on, we should be able to blow that out of the water at this point. 4) The figure selection is poor. Adding Steiner to the base offering, whilst a move in the right direction, is still too little too late IMO: - The Rey is boring - elite 100 is far more interesting. - DDP, as everyone has said, shouldve been jeans / bandaged. Putting in jeans warrior adds insult to injury. - Steiner is great, shame no "S" logo and wrong boots, but otherwise solid. - Warrior has his fans but is unnecessary imo, the least toyetic attire of one of the most toyetic wrestlers. - And the Hogan is just a minor variation on the Amazon Takeover one. Reminds me of Smithers in the Simpsons on the new malibu Stacey - but she's got a new hat! Lol Would love to justify the cost but just can't. Hopefully next time they strike a better balance. I think personally, for me to back it, I'd've needed: Tier 1 - stage with UE Outsiders Tier 2 - Jeans DDP (and I'd've backed here if it reached this tier) Any further tiers a bonus at that point, maybe keep in Steiner at 3. My 2 cents A solid 2 cents! Everything you mentioned was on point. Especially with the Outsiders (Hall and Nash) being at tier 1. Those are the most essential individuals to the Monday Night Wars. That to me would have been a no brainer. Especially since there is already a nWo UE Hogan to be paired with. As much a Warrior fan as I am, Warrior's time in WCW was just too brief to add him to this (great figure nonetheless). Steiner and DDP are great choices but I would have swapped Rey with Eddie Guerrero w/ LWO shirt. That being said, No one knows what goes on behind closed doors over at Mattel and the reasons why they picked the talent they picked. I think Mattel/Steve should have a Poll to have somewhat of an idea of what talent to add to these things. Similar to the WWE/Amazon polls. But yea, UE Outsiders was a missed opportunity.

While I don't disagree with anything he's said, this isn't necessarily a Monday Night Wars set. This is a WCW Nitro set and the figures given do cover most of the Nitro run (Hogan - 1995, Rey - 1996, DDP - 1997, Steiner and Warrior - 1998). If they put Steiner in one of his shorts attires, that could have been a 1999 look. But no matter who the five figures are, people would find a way to complain about it. I could definitely see people complaining if they put DDP in jeans behind a $400 paywall. Personally I like the Warrior figure, it was his debut look on Nitro, so it does fit in this group. I would have been fine with the Outsiders in Tier 1 with the stage, Steiner at tier 2 (with airbrushed designs on the white singlet like AFA said was coming), Warrior at tier 3 (same attire as what has been shown), and DDP (in jeans or how they have him now) at tier 4.

While I do agree with some in the line up not being from that era, Mattel is promoting it as a Monday Night Wars era set. Here's the description as written on the Mattel Creations website. i wonder if they moved the DPP in , if would it at least hit 5k. i think they overestimated the backer inquiries. id scrap the Hogan or move Warrior to 5k also.and then do Hogan at 7k.. since hes the least one people want..
they need to pull some more levers for 5k. i dont see another 3k funding this within 15 days if something else doesnt come along to help it.

If they put DDP in after already adding Steiner some people would no doubt jump on but others would be waiting for warrior to be added imo The goal posts have been moved from the beginning. “Put Steiner in and this hits 5K, guaranteed” “Put Jeans DDP in and this gets funded straight away. Guaranteed” “If this was UE Outsiders it would already be funded” The goalposts have been moved and no matter what Mattel did the consumer base would’ve continued to move those goalposts. Win, lose or draw, Mattel have effectively hurt themselves with the last two crowdfunds. No matter what they do from here for future crowdfunds there will always be holdouts to see what Mattel add in to sweeten the deal.

TL most wont read incoming, Value is of course subjective - is it worth $400 to me? Probably not- which as an international buyer will eventually go to well over 550-600 (whether these are reasonable or accurate shupping and import costs I'm not going to debate, based on responses from the staff they certainly believeits not over the top).
Is it worth the price tag in terms of purely what's produced? Probably the stage certainly looks beautiful, mind you it has to be considered that there are other difficulties the stage brings - you need space on the wall or space to fit it in your collection room etc.
What I don't like is the pressure from certain collectors & influencers that everyone must fund it or you'll sabotage further crowdfunds - were it any other industry, where you're told fund X or I won't produce Y I don't think itd be seen favourably, and I don't see this in A favourable light personally from a business standpoint, where you expect collectors to fund something many don't see a need for just to receive something they want in the future (ie you must buy the nitro stage to get the raw one, which hasn't been said definitively but has certainly been alluded to). Thered be a word starting with B i could use to describe the above but I won't because no doubt someone would find it offensive or report me for it.
Can't just pass the buck & put all blame on the buyer which is regularly done, its a combination of a cost crisis but also I don't think overly well chosen figure or timeline to appeal to most people, and a lot won't see the need or appeal to fund it. Is it valued appropriately? Probably. Do I think its valuable enough for a lot of collectors (especially non WCW fans) id say no.
Irregardless of the above The world is going through a big cost of living crisis where many are reducing their spending. To ask for especially international collectors 500-600usd, was never going to be an easy ask, no matter what the crowd fund was. Do I think with better chosen figures or even a different chosen CF altogether would that price have been easier to stomach? Sure, but no matter what it is many just won't be able to fund it.

My Econ prof always said that value is what someone is willing to pay. What will ultimately determine whether this set and add-ons is worth the "cost" is if people believe it is. The numbers will tell us.
