That ZST Savage head sculpt easily rivals Megoβs Andre for the worst Iβve ever seen. How could you put that much effort and money into a figure and show it off looking like Earl Hebner at a Halloween party?

Interesting about ZST statement though I don't think he has anything to do with the Macho Man cancelation unless he really paid for that attire rights exclusively. Though he would have stated he had exclusive rights to him if given the opportunity to claim that. I don't collect that retro style at all so that announcement does nothing for me. I'm going with production issues.

If ZST is making a 7" Randy Savage figure, that would be confirmation Mattel lost the license. Exactly! People are quick to panic. Likely a production issue that couldnβt be resolved in a reasonable time to fulfill commitment to retail. If cost is the issue, a Repackage ultimate 2 pack with Liz or Sherri would be welcomed & worth it.

Of all the way for this situation to go, I did not expect it to be ZST swooping in and dropping his version the day after the cancellation announcement.

WOW, ZST making a Macho Man tells me that he's willing to get a C&D from the Poffo estate (if they even care or notice), but definitely does not want to fight the copyright giant that is WWE. Cease and desist on the behalf of an estate just means "please don't sell that" but WWE legal can get really involved, I've seen "bootleg" merch designers get really tangled up with WWE legal over unlicensed merchandise. Tells me that WWE did indeed lose the licensing rights to Macho Man. But in all honesty this is just odd. Edit: Also, if ZST was ready to drop that like the next morning, I wonder if this Macho Man news has been quietly making the rounds that the license was coming up and negotiations were tough. Its quite suspect that ZST had this thing ready to post the next day after finding out that the UE Mach' was canceled.Β Randy Savage and Andre the Giant are licensed through CMG so ZST would be working with them. Thatβs how they are both in the WrestleQuest video game as well as have other figures.

I wouldnβt be surprised if ZST is just capitalizing off the buzz of the UE being canceled and decided to announce it right after
Iβm still betting itβs just a production issue

Iβm hoping that information soon comes to light. Although I was looking forward to this one, I was/am FAR more interested in the Colosseum Collection version that has yet to be announced. Iβm more into the trunks looks anyway, and we are still waiting on an Ultimate trunks version. CC Macho and Liz seems like something that needs to happen. Letβs hope Savage isnβt completely off the table.

If ZST is making a 7" Randy Savage figure, that would be confirmation Mattel lost the license. Not necessarily. S7 has been making Andre figures at the same scale as Mattel. Someone announced a βhasbroβ R&B Valentine roughly around the same time as Mattelβs retro. Seems like WWEβs legends deals are a lot more flexible than theyβve previously been.

Remember, Fig Heel or whatever, has Macho for their Bone Cruncher Superstars line so people other than Mattel can make Savage figures. I remember Cardona saying theyβd love to have him for their line but that the license is so darn expensive. Plus, Macho merch is on Pro Wrestling Tees along with WWE Shop. The Macho license is not an exclusive one.

I think the Zombie announcement is just a capitalising on the news of the day situation. If Mattel have lost him, then is what it is but as said he's got a Bone Cruncher and a Retro coming from FC and Wrestling Trader does he not? It's not like Mattel are the only ones doing Macho Man figures right now.

I'm honestly good on paying $40+ for figures that are more statues than action figures (my opinion, no disrespect intended to those who do whatsoever). And congrats to the people who get to make them, seriously it's cool if I was you I'd be over the moon. But for my collecting desires this just ain't it. Call me a mark for corporations, I'm sure we all have our contradictions, but I see it all as kinda one lineage. LJN to Hasbro to Jakks to Mattel, that's really what I'm interested in with the ToyBiz and OSFT for nostalgia. If he is gone from the line I'll focus my attention on filling out the things from those series' that I don't have, but that's just me.
That said I'm still holding out plenty of hope that this is just a bump in the road for this particular figure and Mattel still has access to Mach as they should. I'm really not trying to act like I'm on my soapbox here but if Mattel lost Macho Man to a start-up company that's a tough look on them. Do we not buy enough of your Macho Man figures? Did this pre-order not go into back-order despite almost all mainline Ultimates being available for months afterwards? I'm not trying to be over-the-top but that would hurt my feelings lol. Losing Sting was pretty tough, but he went to another wrestling company. Disney doesn't lose Mickey Mouse, WWE can't lose Macho.

I feel very, very certain that this ZST announcement was something they already had deep in the pipeline (as evidenced by all of the people they claim were involved in it) that got rushed out to capitalize on the UE news. There is no way that WWE/Mattel is completely losing the rights to one of the most famous wrestlers to ever live to a small company that caters to a niche within a niche of online collectors.

That figure from ZST looks like trash. This is extremely specific, but it looks like one of the old Round5 MMA "figures" back in the day.

If ZST is making a 7" Randy Savage figure, that would be confirmation Mattel lost the license. Not necessarily. The estate could have renegotiated with multiple companies like Warner did with the DC license. We wonβt know anything for certain until Mattel says what happened with this figure.

ZST only has the exclusive rights to announce Macho figures and show concept art.

I'm going with the production issue angle here.
ZST is capitalizing on the buzz and given the big name drops in the IG post, this was a deal that was in the works for a while, not just "Mattel canned their WM 7 Savage, better slap together a Hasbro throwback"
Considering Savage has had other figures beyond Mattel like the Micro Brawlers, it's likely not a rights issue, maybe Mattel flying to close to the sun with their UE, looking at just how much stuff that figure was going to come with

Bold Prediction: They canceled because the production cost is too high and will sell it instead on Mattel Creations at a higher price point.
