I’ll try to get him, he will just be wrestler Ali rather than boxer in my little imagination universe of figures! If I miss out not a big deal. He may get another release somewhere down the line.

Man, it's been a few years since a SDCC exclusive has caught my eye, but that boxer Ali?  One of y'all can buy my ref if I'm able to get it. Red trim works better for me on the boots/socks, since I'm definitely gonna pose him yelling at (an invisible) Sonny Liston. |

Tragic that they couldn’t get Inoki and make it a 2 pack. I would think it’s do-able, since Inoki is in the wwe hall of fame. Oh well. I’m sure Mattel will take advantage of having Ali in the line. Chances are he will show up now in other lines. Retros and the Walmart superstars line come to mind.

Gonna pass, maybe make a custom ref figure if I ever come across someone getting rid of a head - but otherwise no need for it in my collection. For those who want it I’m happy for you.

  Interesting angle they took this year. It's a pass for me. I feel like it's out of place in my wrestling collection, for some reason. Agreed. I don't care for boxing, and I wasn't even born yet when he reffed at mania. So this really does nothing for me. |

Passing….it will sellout but will be easily available on the secondary market. Especially once collectors realize they have zero attachments to a Ali figure

It's a cool concept, and I love the execution of the packaging and etc. Most likely not something I'll try for, though I'm slightly tempted as a I have read a ton on Ali over the tears. Their tooling of that Ultimate ref body opens up a lot of possibilities for other names going forward.

Great figure, I might get it depending on how I feel.
Second, I hope this opens the door for more UEs with a superstar with two attires.
Third, Tyson boxing and in the dx fit would be a phenomenal UE!

I think this is really well done a creative way to release a two pack of the same person. I also like that there’s an Ultimate Edition referee now. Referees have always been underrepresented with both Jakks and Mattel. The different referee hands are a nice touch.

Trying to think of any one else that they could release two different UE versions of the same person that would make sense. Tyson in suit (Raw) and WM14 comes to mind. Boxer Tyson would be cool too but there’s no connection to wrestling with him as a boxer. Maybe LT in suit (RR95) and WM11 but doubt many would want anything other than WM11 LT.

I like how so many comments are lukewarm..... "I really like it! Looks great! But not for ME....."
Really curious how well this sells..... I'm in agreement with others, it just seems out-of-place in my wrestling collection. There are other things I could add to my collection with that $70 that would make more sense for me.

Cool presentation but awful comic con exclusive choice.
Crossover appeal figs should appeal to wrestling fans as well. Feels like it’s from a totally different line.

Not sure I would care to have an "ultimate" ref, when even a basic ref would suffice in most cases. |
