Happy to have been able to get this. It's a phenomenal piece. I think it's great that everyone who wanted one, had a big window of time to get it in.

...and it's still available. I'm going to have to mercy-buy one of these.

Really interesting that only one of the Mattel SDCC exclusives across all their lines has sold-out (Monster High I think it's called, or something similar) - seems an indication that Mattel have upped the production numbers across the full range, I assume other lines sold-out pretty quick as well in previous years, not just the WWE one?
Also interesting that the much cheaper than Ali exclusives haven't sold-out yet; in fact the only one that has sold-out is the only one more expensive than Ali.

None of their exclusives were that great and probably overpriced in many people’s eyes. $30 for a hot wheel seems like a little much.

Even if they increased the production numbers for their SDCC exclusives this year, the offerings were not very good imo. Assuming the Jurassic Gates crowdfund fails(it's at 29% with 4 days left) that would be two failed Crowdfunds in a row and poor(maybe?) sales on their SDCC exclusives. Mattel Creations isn't having a good year.

Forgot about it. Happy to see this was still available. Cheers @mattel 🥃 I'm actually kind of surprised that this is still available. Not because this was highly sought after by wrestling fans, but Muhammad Ali has a big fan base, I figured they would have jumped on this solely for the boxing figure. The fact that this is still up a day after the release makes me think they made more of these than previous SDCC releases. If Slim Jim Macho Man, Sgt. Slaughter, and NHB all sold out in minutes, you would think that this would have been sold out by the end of the day at the very latest if it were the same number of units made.

I would've thought non wwe fans would get this figure as well, apparently not.

Now available on WWE Shop for $99.99.
Why would anyone pay that when they could get it from MC for $70? The Hogan/Funk 2 pack sold out on WWE Shop at $84.99, when it's still available on MC for $70. Just shows you not everyone who buys figures, knows about MC.

Just seen that they are running a 30% discount on some of the lower-priced SDCC exclusives (not Ali or the JP exclusives) - no idea how long that has been up?

I’m starting to wonder if the reason this thing still hasn’t sold out it the price point. Slaughter was 1 figure and sold for like $35. NHB had the cult following, Hogan appeal and a FTITL Zeus. Boxing fans don’t need the ref body and wouldn’t care for the packaging that celebrates wrestling as much as it does Ali himself.

I think it was pretty obvious since this was leaked that it wouldn’t sell as well as past exclusives, weird choice. Although this board doesn’t speak for the whole collector community, I’d never known such a dull reaction which did speak volumes and even some of the big name reviewers on YouTube etc were unsure about its popularity.
They may well have made lots more of this one but regardless, it’s such a small window of wrestling appeal and nobody cares about having a boxing version.
Hopefully this pushes Mattel to get back to more Wrestling central item next time but doesn’t scare them so much that they increase appetite but reduce the volume available.

Gotta disagree there... it would be crazy to have the licence for Ali and not make one in his boxing gear. Same goes with Tyson (if they ever get the rights)... even though we never saw him in his boxing gear in WWE, I'd definitely want a ring-gear Tyson (as well as a suited/Austin confrontation and/or a DX version).

I would hazard a guess that one of the big factors as to why this exclusive hasn’t generated more positive buzz is due to the set consisting of Muhammad Ali and… Muhammad Ali.
Ali fans predominantly know and love him as a boxer. Not for assistant reffing the main event match at WM1.
Two figures of the same person.. That’s a much tougher sell.

Ali, Martin, and Liberace were brought in for the Boomers while T and Lauper were for Gen X. Boomers aren’t collecting action figures and even tho Gen X remembers Ali at Mania we’re not that nostalgic over the moment.

Last thing they give a damn about is what action figures are going to be exclusives at San Diego Comic Con.
