Fully Poseable also dropped a clue on their podcast. The picture looked to be a white robe that fit into your collection nicely if you collect golden era. He wore the robe during the weigh in with Inoki so Iβd say we have a winning. Which would be rad to me.

I get Muhammad Ali is legendary enough to just make a toy of, but why would Mattel make him in boxing attire? Did he wear anything but a referee shirt during his time in the WWF?
He wore green pants and no shirt when Gorilla Monsoon gave him the airplane spin
He wore boxing gear when he did the "Wrestler Vs Boxer" against Inoki but its not WWF promoted or even a piece of history WWE has much referenced
I don't really see why they would make Ali in anything but what he wore in the company. There is no correlation between WWF history and Muhammad Ali in boxing gear. It just seems odd.
Rodman or Tyson makes much more sense to me. Keeping with the MNW theme for the new line and you can actually make a gear that is related to wrestling and that people want to buy.
Kaufman would also be wonderful.

Ali vs Inoki was treated like a big deal in sports history. So it makes sense why if they have Ali, theyβd go with that look. And if they do have him they could just do a Ali Wrestlemania ref fig in the Wrestlemania elite series.

Kaufman and Rodman are far more known for their roles in wrestling than Muhammad Ali is for wrestling. And Kaufman and Rodman both wrestled under properties owned by WWE, at minimum are in the conversation about entertainers crossing over into wrestling. Not that Ali isn't but the only notable time he was involved in wrestling was as a referee or in a foreign event that was not promoted by anything related to WWF and in a moment that has no importance to WWE And I won't for a second entertain "Vince Sr promoted it." Don't kid yourselves that that this diminutive detail is wrestling history that anyone remembers/cares about/will ever discuss again I just see it as Rodman -- on Nitro during wrestling's biggest boom era, wrestled a PPV main event for WCW during peak business, tons of looks to choose from and will go very well it the Monday Night Wars lines Andy Kaufman -- had a regional wrestling angle that was so hot it made it to David Letterman, played a huge role for regional wrestling, history with Jakks of having well-selling figures in wrestling lines, just went into the WWF HOF ~2 months ago Ali in boxing gear -- wore it during a Japanese half shoot/half work fight from 55 years ago that WWE has never talked about except in a 20 sec clip of Inoki's Hall of Fame induction promo in 2010 Or just Ali in a blue button up shirt and some slacks, I guess Muhammad Ali is not obscure. But a boxing gear Muhammad Ali in a WWE figure line is...missing a few connected dots.

Its just obscure! Its hardly a wrestling figure at the point. Its a legendary athlete and will make for a cool toy. Lets have Jazwares put it in the Luminaries line then. AEW has just as much business making a Muhammad Ali in boxing gear as WWE does, as far as I'm concerned. Muhammad Ali has shown up in boxing gear the same amount of times on WWE/ECW/WWF/WCW that he has on AEW. They showed the match on a screen to end a WWWF event. That's all it takes? Lets get a Jared from Subway figure. He at least was AT an event. There's photo evidence of what he was wearing while being live at the event. You cannot downplay Jared from Subway sat front row at WWE once.

Kaufman would also be wonderful.Β Its also who you can license as well. Rodman or Tyson can be off the table for numerous reasons. Plus, you wouldnβt want them to be limited SDCC exclusives where only a handful of people can get their hands on. Ali in boxing attire makes perfect sense as he is an iconic figure who will bring eyes on the product from fans outside of wrestling and will appeal to wrestling fans of that era as well. For those who donβt want him should be a sigh of relief as they can easily not buy it and forgo dealing with the stress of having to obtain one.

Could they make a Mania 1 referee/boxer Ali 2 in one?

Could they make a Mania 1 referee/boxer Ali 2 in one? I donβt see how. Soft goods pants over boxing shorts would look weird. Plus they probably would want to make the most of the license and sell the ref fig down the road.

Just because it wasnβt in a WWWF ring, doesnβt downplay the importance. It also has massive crossover appeal. And can people stop suggesting men who have slept with minors or men who have tried to? Even as a joke, thatβs a really odd person to pick.

But SDCC exclusives seem to be more about crossover appeal and creating a buzz among outlets outside of the bubble. The fight itself, yeah not overly important to WWE history but, it is a historic & legendary match(snoozefest really)on its own, with some calling it the birth of MMA,etc, etc. So yeah, i don't know, I think it's cool if it's true. Not sure how I will fit them in my collection, Inoki was relevant to the WWE until about '84 so I guess he fits in with my collection. Or maybe it's time to start a side collection with the Powertown stuff, where Inoki fits in better.

And if Inoki is included as well then he is technically a former WWF champion even tho itβs not officially recognized.

There's maybe 10 other celebs I'd like to see figures of because of their accomplishments/moments/matches with WWE or other properties under the WWE umbrella. If we need to get this far off the path then maybe we can just go back to making WRESTLING characters that people want.
