Someone answer this for me please. The last couple of years Mattel has made it clear they don't care at all about collectors that collect for value, I think we all will agree with that (Rereleases, Best of's ,ect..). Mattel can see how much Sarge and NHB are selling on the secondary market and those molds are already made....Why have they not reordered more and put them for sell on MC? There's no reason that they wouldn't except for the fact that maybe SDCC wouldn't allow it? Who’s to say they won’t? Zeus has already been re-released as an elite with some slight differences. Rip can potentially be released in white trunks or street clothes. That Sarge could be a future elite in the legends line. Heck, it may even be possible to re-release on the Greatest Hits line. No. Im saying why not take the exact same figs in the exact same packaging and just make more.

Defeats the purpose of having a convention exclusive if they’re just gonna re-release it.

While I ordered this Ali (and am still excited to receive it), I just don't think this one has that "limited & special" SDCC feel. It appears to just steadily collect dust as every day goes on. I still wonder what it bodes for future Ali releases, especially another potential boxer version for the Legends line?

Clearly it didn’t generate the same buzz as the more recent releases as Ali’s greatness predates when most of us started watching and his appearance at Mania was overshadowed by T and Lauper and Hogan and Piper. That said, the presentation of the figures do feel special and unique. Other than maybe in the Superstars line, I doubt we get another Ali fig. Like maybe in dress pants to recreate his confrontation with Gorilla but I don’t see it happening.

An interesting question: there are clearly more Alis on the pipeline. Given this sold so poorly (I can't believe they manufactured it at the level of an Elite), do they pull it from future line-ups that they still can, reduce the number of Ali figures planned, or hoped he'll sell better at retail because of casual collectors?

My Ali arrived today, even though 80s wrestling is my sweet spot I was not very interested in this set and initially wasn’t planning on purchasing. However, in hand it’s awesome, packaging is great, glad I decided to order.

Spoke with Steve at Power-Con. Said that they made a lot more Ali figures than past exclusives. Said the powers that be got excited & wanted to make more despite others voicing their concerns. That being said, he sold the same amount, if not more, than the previous exclusives.

Just towing the company line to deflect their messup for choosing such a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad exclusive that won't make me booku on the 'bay. /sarcasm

So shocking, they went out of their way to make more product available due to being raked over the coals for not having enough in years past. And, par for the course on the message board, still finding ways to complain when the flip side occurs.

As my post alluded to, a lot of complaints smacked of the Ali figs not reaching an astronomical resale value that others did.

I was totally picking up what you were layin down my friend (you even said "sarcasm" in your post). It's ALL of the previous dozens of posts that were trashing it that were in the it-didn't-sell-out-in-3-minutes-so-it's-a-bust camp! They are insufferable camp that nitpick everything.

Not sure if that’s why they produced more…maybe Ali’s estate signing cost more $ and Mattel decided to get as much bang for their buck with this release???

One stone cold has black knee braces and another has red then “he comes with different knee braces” would be a correct statement.

If I understood him correctly then the suits saw it was Ali and saw dollar signs and overprojected his appeal. But still sold well. Would’ve been a sell out if produced at the same numbers as previous figures.
