I’d like to apologise to Mattel, Steve, Bill and all the crew. I give you guys some stick and you do make some real bad, frustrating errors at times but WOOF!!!!! I’ve just seen a whole bunch of Jazwares releases and yet again they would make Jakks absolute sweat figures look true to life.
In all seriousness, they’ve actually made me feel grateful and lucky that is WWE collectors have Mattel, on the whole, knocking it out the park.

I'm all for respectful, constructive criticism, but to compare Jazwares AEW figures to Maximum Sweat is completely unjustified and disrespectful to the people who worked on them.
They look pretty good to me, really good in fact. Good details, good likenesses, good proportions, good articulation, good accessories. What more do you want? They're at least close to Mattel. And miles beyond the days of Jakks and Toybiz (as much as I loved them at the time).
Bizarre topic.

Mattel is amazing, but of course they have their 'questionable' decisions... A lot of them.
Jazwares are really hit & miss. I've wanted to get so many figures from the line, but the final product just doesn't look good.
I'm really hoping the upcoming Jay White doesn't disappoint. He's one that i've wanted a figure of for years.

Mattel is great. Jazwares still has to work the kinks out

Jazwares figures arent terrible. They have 2 huge issues. Distribution (worse than Mattel if you can believe that) and most of their heads look way too cartoony which is surprising seeing as how Jeremy headed such a great line with Jakks that had amazing heads.

Both can be good. And it’s tough go judge on renders and prototypes. They’ve done some really good work for AEW. The new CM Punk in the MJF set is amazing. And every figure from the Supreme line has been awesome. Compare Cody Supreme to Cody Ultimate …
I’d say Mattel is obviously out in front but JW has definitely done some really good stuff.

I think the cartoony style probably stands out more now that face printing on mass market figures is so detailed. The relatively saturated paints, especially for the eyes, on Jazwares AEW really hurts them, but they might not have access to the kind of production processes Mattel and Hasbro use when they make figures of real people.

Jazwares has been far from perfect. But they've launched a new line into existence that has its own style and identity, while fitting in well enough with existing lines. Not an easy task. My issues are more with the production/distribution side of things than design. If it's not your taste, so be it. But like any line, they have some home runs and some real clunkers.
Mattel was in a huge rut, imo, before Jazwares launched the line. Since then they've been knocking killing it. Improving the UE line, adding double jointed arms, consistent use of cloth goods, largely ditching the stiff rubber coats and shirts.
Competition is good for everyone. There were things Jazwares did better than Mattel when the line launched. Mattel upped their game and showed why they're the top dog. Hopefully Jazwares gets their crap together and can take a step forward again. But each line can be praised or criticized without necessarily dragging the other.

Completely agree with distribution being the main issue over figure quality. I haven’t really noticed or thought the heads were cartoony. Any in particular that stand out? And yes, for all the crap Jakks and the old RA/CS line gets, those heads were great. A good bit of them still blow out what Mattel does. Just the heads … nothing else.

This may be a hot take - but Jazwares' torso articulation actually looks better than a lot of Mattel's Ultimate Editions... and there wasn't anything shown that screamed out "WTF!?" like the recent UE Eddie monstrosity.

Mattel figs sucked from 2010-2015ish. Terrible likenesses, inconsistent scale, bad paint, awful rubber jackets. Yet people couldn't praise those figures fast enough.
Jazwares has many of the same problems right now, but maybe they'll improve with time like mattel did.

Jazwares figures are not nearly as bad as some are making them out to be. Both companies have churned out absolutely fantastic figures and clunkers over the 3 years the lines have been running simultaneously. Jazwares issues is distribution and time between sets right now.

Considering their age - and price - nearly all 2010-2015 Elite figures still hold up really well. Sorry, bud.

Both companies have churned out absolutely fantastic figures and clunkers over the 3 years the lines have been running simultaneously. Jazwares issues is distribution and time between sets right now. It’s mainly the heads for me, likeness is really poor and even those that are ok are far too cartoon like. The Hooks I’ve just seen look like PlayStation/Pokémon style heads IMO. The lower body always looks weird to me too, again very Jakks like and as weird as it may sound, the ass area always looks off, like they’re wearing some weird diaper.
