Somebody said this in another thread way back "It was the perfect sendoff to WWF, they could have stopped right there and had that been the last show." and I completely agree. Still love plenty that came after that but it was great.

Amazing Mania at the very peak of WWF. A night when so many stars shone.

tbh at the time my friend and i, while disappointed the rock hadn't won, weren't nearly as dismayed as the next night when the rock got destroyed in the cage and the two man power trip began. then rock was gone and it was a sad time. haha

End of the Attitude Era with WCW going out of business a week earlier, Stone Cold turning heel and The Rock's last day as a fulltime wrestler on the road. I thought HHH had a good chance of ending The Undertaker's streak at this show for obvious reasons. When they had a rematch at Wrestlemania 27, it was disappointing that they did not mention the match during the buildup when they couldve used the story that HHH wanted another shot at ending the streak after a decade of dominance.

That was during the period The Biker Taker pretty much had the Benoit treatment. That era of Taker was never shown in packages or brought up on TV for quite a few years.

HHH mentioned it the night after WM27 on RAW lol but they should have mentioned it during the build up

Entire event was ruined by the Austin heel turn. It was the worst creative decision Vince ever made and forever tarnishes an otherwise great Mania.

Vince is the boss and gets full blame for allowing it. Do you think he approves every pitch that comes his way?

The funny thing is looking back at the Austin Heel Turn - it almost came across to the crowd as Vince was turning face lol
Its still a highlight mania for me, I think because I was so invested in every match - I would be curious to have seen what Rikishi would have done on the card because there's nothing I would change really going into it - out of it of course nix the Austin turn, but the hype was real huge for this one

A creative decision was the least Steve deserved for making Vince all the money. Just because Austin thought of it first doesn't mean it was a good decision. Vince is 100% to blame for it. If he didn't want it, it wouldn't have happened.

A creative decision was the least Steve deserved for making Vince all the money. Thats how JR tells it. Vince asked him to talk Steve out of it...he wouldnt budge. Apparently nobody except Austin thought it was a good idea. As JR said they owed it to him to try. NOTHING good came from it...

I don't blame Austin for it. Sure in hindsight it was wrong, but I agree he was getting stale. However not as stale as he would become in 2002.
