I would like Santos and maybe Rey but the rest don’t interest me. I will probably pass but I could change my mind.
I was super disappointed in how Cody turned out so hopefully this one won’t change much.

It took them nearly 15 years but we’re finally getting cool box sets of factions. I hope this does really well and they do more. nWo & Evolution are the immediate choices, Hogan, Hall, & Nash from Bash at the Beach and Evolution from Armageddon 03 with all the titles or all in suits

But yeah, I'd like to see more - especially the two you mentioned. |

Santos is being built as a solid mid card guy they may be on trek to wrestling Rey at mania. Zelina is very over, more over than she ever has been. The other two are a lower card talented tag team designed to eat pins. |

Not the people acting like the LWO was some sacred piece of wrestling history.
I'd love that Zelina, but not sure I want to order the set and try reselling the rest just for that? I might, depending on price.
I think this is a good way to do a Creations offering, though. A box set of a stable featuring bunch of current roster names, including first-time Elites and a memorable event-specific look that probably wouldn't have made a wave, because competition for women's spots in the line is tough and it wasn't a Big 4 event. Kind of wish we had gotten Alpha Academy this way instead in the main Elite line, so we could have gotten Maxxine too.

I think this was a use it or lose it scenario. Steve has said they have two spots per year reserved for big moments when they wanna get something into production immediately. Apparently 2023 was a pretty uneventful year and never had anything worthwhile to fill those spots. So with the end of the year approaching they had to scramble and figure out something. I guess doing a box set for a midcard faction where it would be hard to find that many spots for in the mainline is what they came up with. *gestures aggressively at the completely uneventful time period in WWE that was August 2022 to August 2023* I mean, right, surely nothing happened in that time period that would outshine a midcard faction right? |

Look, here's the thing I've said in other threads. The current LWO is over, sure. But this is still gonna be a really hard sell at what I'm sure will be an absurd price point. If it truly was the snapshot moment for Backlash, sure, you'd have a better chance. But this feels like a Mashup of a boxset. Like they wanted a boxset that fits the vibe not the moment.
Which is sad because of just how big backlash was and you could potentially justify the box set for that.
But like so many have said. By the time this figure ships there's no guarantee all these people will be in the company let alone together. And five elites in a box set when theyre currently on RSC charging 100 for 3? They're gonna be asking 200 bucks for this set I can feel it.
I just hope that the number of people who buy this set counterbalanced the costs of production because I'd hate for this set to fail and doom further sets that would appeal to the mainstream. Because like said above there are a ton of factions this format would be perfect for. NWO, Four Horsemen, DX if you can swing it, he'll, even if you could somehow offer the Ministry or The Corporation, it would be great.
But this is a hell of a headscratcher for a first go and I just don't see a ton of people outside of resellers buying this. I mean, those resellers will buy them. You could easily make money parting these figures out at a premium. But the number of people who will buy this whole set to keep the whole set feels like it would be very low to me

Why do you think they brought it back? Because the nostalgia goggles are strong and people still crave the flashback/legends stuff. Between Dom, Rhea, Rey, and constant references by everyone else, Eddie's Legacy is stronger than it had been in a very long time. Of course the WWE is gonna cash in on it with a 2.0 version. And no, literally cash in, I'm half expecting product placement somewhere on this packaging. Like a little cinnamon toast guy on the back in the corner. But this is still a hard sell. If they wanted current roster talent, they could have held off on the main series Elites, added Roman and Sami, and then given us WarGames Bloodline ad the Mattel Creations set. That would have sold like crazy especially with specialty packaging. Barring that, make it a Judgement Day 5 Pack from Payback. Do the whole current gang including JD and give them every one of those belts. Shiny this time. Again, profit. I don't hate the LWO. I really don't. But as over as they are they're still a midcard faction who is getting lost in the shuffle of Judgement Day, the Bloodline, and whatever the heck they call Sami/Kevin/Cody/Jey. (I've heard the term "The Golden Quartet" used but I doubt they'll ever actually give them a name unless they end up making it to Wargames). Really though, this is a great boxset with great figures. It is just a really risky first set to put out, especially with how we failed the last crowdfunder despite all the warnings it came with about needing to happen or else. |
