this is a rare case where the protos looked so bad I never gave it another thought, and the final version has me feeling some real FOMO same here, the Rougeaus actually look good (not great as Jacques' face could be better but they're actually good to see them out of the packaging and see that shine
now......
imagine how many more he'd have sold if he'd have actually put his money into manufacturing one of these figures and using that as the "preorder" hype - being able to see what the final production run figure would look like would INSTANTLY help boost his sales from those of us who are not prepared to buy a figure based on concept art, and then be let down by the finished product.
if G+G did just one thing to improve their process (actually get their PR campaign in order so the reveal artwork and the prototype look like the finished product every time!!) then people would be more willing to invest at the order stage, not the secondary market where he gets zero return on those sales
hopefully he follows your tips and can emulate your successful toyline 🙄

Got my Bulldog and Rougous, they look great. I opened the Bulldog already and I really love it, one of my favorite offerings out of any retro line to date. Looking forward to the rest of the Bulldogs, though I'm kinda worried about how that 95' version turned out with the out of proportion torso.

Epic is 2nd closest IMO, I hope with DDP and the next few releases that they come even closer. But as good as Demos and PoP were, they still had that vinyl like finish, Mitch is the only one really doing proper Hasbro sculpts and hard plastic. I don't care what he's doing, if he's 3D copying and then modifying original Hasbros, if that's what he really is doing, fine by me. These now fit in most seemlessly with Hasbros. Here's a shot of my Bulldog, might honestly be my favorite Retro figure of all at this point. It's spot on, and it's colorful and toyetic.

I want to pay 80 and buy the Rogeaus now -- I assumed because I could do it with Quebeckers and Mero, etc. I would be able to do it here. Also drnickriviera995 -- your HBK custom is fantastic. Same guy who did your others?

Want to support Mitch, especially after his recent personal tragedy.

The prototypes/renders looked rubbish though. He's punishes people with use of their eyes? People with sense? Doesn't matter too much for me cos Rock and Roll Collectibles don't inflate the prices after the pre order for in stock purchases.

That custom HBK is infinitely better than the recent Mattel version which looks like utter shite.

I tend to think the pricing is way over what it should be in general, though. Nearly £60 for a ZST on average, around £40 for G&G. I just don't really want to be paying that out for figures, especially when some of these figures have QC issues.

I got the Quebecers after I seen the final product and very happy with them. Ditto with the Rougeaus. There's improvement but I definitely dont have enough faith (yet?) to place a pre order them.

Yeah, his figures definitely fit in more seamlessly with the Hasbro's than any other figure company right now. I think Mattel is doing the worst. That Bulldog looks great, I passed on it because it was outside the era I collect. Definitely going to get the 1995/96 version, though. And, that Owen custom is amazing. Whoever did that one needs to get in the game.

It appears you are overlooking the people who want figure representation of these characters. I didn’t pass on getting a Ric Flair figure as a kid despite the fact that he looked awful and had one of the worst action features. Most of us still buy retros despite how cost-cutting and repetitive they have gotten (along with low quality likenesses at times). R&R have inflated prices. They have to in order to stay in business. Because they choose to do so consistently is fine and I prefer that myself. But with the logic you provided, you should be just as upset every time they offer a discount code or put something on sale. If you don’t like a render or a prototype- sound off. Don’t support it if you don’t want it or don’t believe in it. But if something turns out better than expected, just be prepared to pay more. It’s as simple as that. The figures may not be free but we certainly are free to choose what we buy and when.

I would have preordered Mitch's Rougeaus based on renders, full sculpts, screen printed faces on dog turds, whatever. Having that team represented on my shelf was important to me, so I was willing to forego any facial inaccuracies (am I the only one who collected early TTLs?!), of which I saw very little, in order to have them in my collection. Sometimes, you just have to trust the process. Other than that first Godfather (it was the man's first figure, leniency required), I don't think Mitch has made a bad looking figure...and they just keep getting better.

Have been on the fence about these would love to get them as they are a hole in the world of retro style but having seen a few reviews they don’t hit the same level as Men on a Mission or Marc Mero which are the only G&Gs I have so far.
The faces aren’t really there for me, the weird revisionism people have that Hasbro was cartoon like just isn’t true, they all had a great representation, especially for the time. The final nail for me was seeing Raymond’s ‘action’ arm - it’s smaller than the torso so looks very weird. I don’t understand why the arm is too small for the body? A real shame.
