Yeah what CMW said above, both were signed in a window where they didn’t have a legends deal Just to make sure Epic were not going to upset the apple cart they got everything signed off by WWE before starting production FWIW I don’t thing Mitch has done anything illegal on purpose if it is, just might be a bit naive in accepting an estates word that they aren’t in an exclusive deal (which they are) and is already 5k in the hole after paying for the molds and production I am sure nobody but Mitch know when he signed Sherri and Jake in relation to when they signed their legends deals so accusing him of operating illegally based off of assumption is kinda irresponsible

Looks very cool! Always love seeing the WFW belts. I really do want this figure but I’m just have no desire for the Diana figure in my collection nor would it be worth much to sell. Thanks man, and I can empathize. I've got her still in the bubble, no clue what to do with her.

There’s also the issue of the WWE-owned rights, i.e. the likeness of the character of say “Duke ‘the Dumpster’ Drose” regardless of the name used. That seems like a very “grey” area, and it wouldn’t be just Mitch. That would be literally anyone making a figure of a guy who ever had a wwe gimmick. I think that one has been decided though. WWE must not own the rights to the look in terms of it being represented in figure form. Just the name

How many pages of law advice have we now accumulated from people that are not lawyers? My goodness!
I'll try again to redirect the conversation (likely failing). What do you guys think Mitch could do moving forward to improve the line? I've suggested numbered figures like KWK does. Perhaps he could make a hugger or stomper? I'd like to see these to make the line feel more Hasbro esc.
I'd love to see some enhancement talent, but I know it's a long shot. You can't really do the Golden Era justice without them though. Some of these guys would be using pretty generic parts, so reusing parts could help bring down there cost making them potentially profitable. I think he should at least look into someone like Mike Sharpe or Duane/Dwayne Gill. These guys are pretty well known.

I’m sure other companies that had been contacted by the same estate and actually looked into it further before making a figure would know the contract status

I like the direction he's going in with regards to the names, and the figures are getting better and looking good. Numbered figures don't really matter to me, but I'd be interested in seeing some different Hasbro style poses, although I dunno about huggers unless it makes sense for the character, and I dunno if he could do a stomper justice without the action feature. I'm always up for enhancement talent, as guys to squash were always missing from the Hasbro line. I'd like to see someone explore a Hasbro style line of fictional "jobbers".

It is a relevant discussion…but we reached a point where people were repeating opinions that aren’t realistic. Numbering figures that aren’t limited edition feels unnecessary. Mitch’s current mix of parts seems to be working well enough for my taste but I welcome almost anything that isn’t a headlock, a jumper, or that boring pose that Zombie has been doing a bit too much of. Former WCW wrestlers as well as talent from Japan and Mexico feels like a winning choice. It would have to be a selective list but I could see 4-5 of each. Enhancement talent is welcome but there are only so many guys that would sell.

Admittedly jumpers aren't my favourite, but a jumper without the action feature seems like a waste of a sculpt. I'd hope one of these independent companies could revisit Ricky Steamboat and the Rockers

Mitch is technically liable if Mattel sues him -- but the moral and ethical issue is really with the estate. Mitch is not entitled to see other contracts. He has taken it in good faith that this person can sign the contract with him. Again, he is legally liable if Mattel sues -- so on that front, he should check if he cares. But the real party in the wrong here is the estate for breaking their contract with WWE, and likely not informing Mitch they are doing so. AND -- if Mitch would insist on seeing the person's contract with WWE, he actually has no right to see that if they don't want to show it. Technically, he could have something in his contract with clients saying he is taking them at their word they can legally enter into the cotract, and if they've misrepresented the situation by signing with him, they're the ones who are liable if he gets sued.

Can everyone please get back to talking about the figures? I'm living vicariously through you all buying these retros as I just don't have the room for another line.
As interesting a topic as it is, the figures are much more interesting 👍
How about those Grapplers and Gimmicks, eh? Bulldog looks great. Diana is also a figure.

Sherri was announced a week ago tomorrow so I guess we will get the next announcement tomorrow too? My guess is Jake but I noticed he has Savio at his booth. I wouldn’t mind another Savio Vega figure but I would probably stab someone for a Kwang!

If epic was able to sign ddp at a time when he wasn’t under contract with wwe, Mitch could have done the same with Sherri. Unless you know for a fact when he signed Sherri… do you? He could have signed her 7 years ago for all we know… I’m purposely using a ridiculous number to illustrate the point. If you don’t know when Mitch signed her, you can’t, in good faith, accuse him of anything illegal.

I most definitely don't have the room for many more wrestling figures, or anything else in general... But I just seem to keep throwing money at things! 🫣

I wouldn’t mind another Savio Vega figure but I would probably stab someone for a Kwang! I used to use a Galoob Rick Steiner with Blu-Tac on his head for a Kwang when I was a kid. Not sure why, but it did the trick... I think. I'd love a Kwang.

Sure….unless he didn’t start until 3 years ago and the legends contract has been valid from 2019 and is still active until next year with a clause to not have any action figures made outside of WWE
