I don’t understand why Mattel insist on keeping WCW ultimates behind ridiculous paywalls. Why can’t they have released that Bischoff on his own for those who don’t want the ring? Have 2 options: since plenty of people collect figures without rings and nobody collects rings without figures then why not sell the figure on its own as an option and the ring/figure bundle as another option? They’d make more money and reduce the chances of scalper ring prices on eBay etc sold by those who only bought the pack for the figure. I’m from Australia and instead of paying 75 for the figure, this pack is going to cost me 354 AUD because it includes a hunk of plastic paperweight  |

That’s kinda been their thing for a while now. People were forced to purchase the Main Event Raw ring for a FTITL Goldberg. Want a new WWE champ Jinder? We’ll gotta buy the ME SDL ring. Help us fund a new ring and you’ll get Diesel. Can’t have this Kane unless you buy a Raw UE ring. And they’re not the only ones to do it. Jazwares have locked a ref, Sting, and Omega to their scale rings as well.

My only issue is that there isn’t any specific tooling for the WCW ring. It’s just a WWE ring dressed up in a WCW setup. I would of liked to have seen some proper WCW ring posts and turnbuckles. They were one of the more unique looking ones that I can remember in the last decade or so. I also understand that the ring would sell regardless, so they’re not going to spend tooling just to satisfy fans :/

The idea is to re-use the mold from the New Gen/RAW is WAR ring to get their money worth. Placing Eric Bischoff as the figure will help drive sales. Leading to more profit for Mattel.
How are people still not understanding this approach? Honestly.

I feel the plans for this rings release with Bischoff were already in motion when the crowd funding took place for the WCW Nitro arena. And in case it failed they still had the Monday Night Wars line to fall back on that's coming out regardless as well. Either way works in conjunction with one another. Let's face it, some talent will be blocked by a paywall with rings. In which they made a mold of the ring that was "thought" only to be exclusive for the new gen arena at the time. Talk about giving someone the buisness.

They reached the goal to find it and made the required units to sell without losing profit. Literally not losing anything if they made two options for this release. a solo figure release and a ring + figure combo. More people will buy both of the products that way instead of having the set shelf warm in the RSC warehouse. |

That's how Mattel operates. Bundling sought after figures with rings, making entire lines store exclusives, and my favorite, drip feeding their customers the least requested attires first to string us along until hopefully, eventually, the most requested version of a superstar gets made.
Saying that Mattel is a customer centric, customer forward brand would be a stretch for sure, especially when it comes to WWE.
As far as I'm aware, this crap isn't pulled with Barbie or Hot Wheels.
"Hey you can get this new Lamborghini hot wheel with a special paint application and rims, but you need to buy this 20-car bundle to get the one! Enjoy!"
